Bush’s second inauguration, Randa Raffield, a twenty-one-year-old student at the University of West Florida, crashed her car on a secluded stretch of Highway 98 near the Gulf of Mexico.
The location of the wreck was hundreds of miles from where she was thought to be.
A witness who came upon the scene moments after the accident testified that Randa was fine and not in need of assistance. But when the first Gulf County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived at the car seven minutes later Randa was gone, vanished without a trace. And has never been seen again.
Can John Jordan find Randa or the person responsible for her disappearance? Or has he finally met his match? The answers will shock you!
more
Over the series, John Jordan has mutated. He is much more family oriented. John agrees to look into the disappearance of a young lady with lots of personal baggage.
The more he delves into the disappearance, the more confusing facts turn up. Sketchy boyfriend, druggie for a mother complete with a predator boyfriend, huge insurance policy on missing girl that has never been cashed in.
The current boyfriend at the time of the disappearance is in prison for life maintaining his innocence. His elderly aunt and his step-sister ask for help from Jordan. Quon was convicted on the basis of an eye-witness, since no body has ever been found.
Surprise ending with a cheat. Not really all that happy with the way I was left hanging.
Use whatever cliche works for you: a page turner; a great who done it; intriguing; suspenseful; etc. They all fit. In this volume 13 of the John Jordan mysteries, author Michael Lister hits all the right notes. Loved the story, loved the truly believable characters, and enjoyed the love between John and Anna. This one is going to twist you, but good! Enjoy!
Great read
Not for me.
Kept my nose in the book!
All of his books are an exceptional read.
Good change of pace.
Very disappointing. The investigator didn’t investigate anything. The end was confusing. In fact the whole book was confusing.
WOW!!!! What an unforeseen ending. You have to read it to believe it. What an in depth work. Great job!!!!!
Povides a look into a little known world.
Too much fighting for my tastes, not enough story
Randa Raffield wrecks her car states away from where she’s supposed to be. The car is still driveable, but Randa is gone. Twenty years later, John Jordan, chaplain/detective, helps discover what really happened to Randa. This one will keep you guessing to the end. On the downside, the author does too much back-patting on being non- racist and being a chaplain who doesn’t take the Bible literally.
Good mystery. The ending did surprise me.
I’ve loved all John Jordan stories.
Enjoy this series
A thoughtful storyline which keeps the reader guessing until the final chapters. Enough clues and possibilities that a second read made me appreciate the pacing much more.
First time ever reading anything by this author and I found that I really liked his writing style. It was a great book from start to finish and I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend this book…..
Enjoyed very much

The woman’s car is found miles away from where she should have been. What could have caused her to be there and where did she go?

Like all of Michael Lister’s books, this one is entertaining, with wonderful characters and a plot that makes it hard to put down! Great reading!
