With Fletcher as a father- who needs enemies? Cold Bastard is an original tale woven in intrigue, peppered with complex characters, and sprinkled in mystery and suspense. This is the first book I’ve read from India, and I was not disappointed with her ability to capture and retain my interest.
Zoe represents a resilient heroine who is sexy, smart, and sassy. Archer, the tycoon, suffering from past demons, has an icebox for a heart. When their worlds collide, their chemistry is instant and explosive. Archer helps Zoe get over her insecurities concerning her body and Zoe obliterates the ice in Archer’s heart.
I had fun reading this novel- if you require a much-needed escape from reality- grab a copy of Cold Bastard- I promise you won’t be disappointed.
I started this series this week and I have sucked in the books as I would air. This is the second book of the Dark Sparrows series. Archer and Zoe’s story had me on the edge of my seat needing to find out what was happening next. Zoe is my kind of girl. I love it when the heroine doesn’t need a man to save her and Asher is a sexy alpha male. I seriously enjoyed the book. Now onto the next book.
This was an amazing book. The characters had me feeling all kinds of things. I even cried. So many twists and turns, I was on the edge of my seat. The intensity is palpable between Zoe and Archer. Zoe comes to work for Archer as a dark sparrow to keep an eye on him. Danger is close as he tries to close a deal to sell his Oil and gas refineries. Finch is always in the background in this novel as well. Pulling strings and trying to bring down a bastard son of his. If you loved book one you will fall in love with this book as well. Be prepared to not want to put this book down though. I pulled a very late night. Onto book 3 as I can not get enough of this fabulous author and series.
Zoe and Archer, are they who we think they are? The Dark Sparrows seem to be all full of secrets. Zoe seems to have left another life behind. Finch ends up kidnapping her. Can she and Archer work out the issues and get out of this mess? Can their love survive? This is one tough couple that I enjoyed watching get through the challenges life threw at them. They just blasted through them. Definitely a recommend.
This is the second book in the Dark Sparrow series and I loved it as much as the first. There was lots of action and suspense, and it kept me turning the page the whole way through. I love the way the author writes her characters with a lot of depth and complexity, as it makes for compelling stories. Highly recommend.
This book gripped my from the start and ia were there reall chaos begins thrown into a battle of blood and money. Zoe and Archer both have pasts that will come back and haunt them. This is very fast paced novel that has you guessing at every turn.
Zoe is a highly intelligent, curvy, and with bit of a smart mouth. Her newest assignment is Archer, a tattooed, suit wearing, and distant business man. The banter between these too is electric! Archer is determined to protect Zoe while unknown to him that is her actual job at Blackwood Corporation.
High paced, never dull, and so hot you’ll need a glass of water to cool down. Book 2 was just as amazing as number 1.
Book 2 doesn’t disappoint, guys! The world building is never ending. Archer and Zoe are just perfect together. While some may be put off by his cold demeanor, I couldn’t get enough.
The characters that India Kells writes are so well thought out that they just jump off the page. They’re more alive than most characters in series similar to this, and it makes the story that much more enjoyable.
This second installment is a bit darker than the first, so be prepared, but all in all, I’m ready to dive into the 3rd!
When you have had an ability to solves puzzles all your life, will a man be just as easy to solve or will being tangled up with him be dangerous.
Zoe is a translator who is well credited within her industry, until one day she receives a call she has not expected ever really but when these words “Dark Sparrow” is spoken she knows she has to get involved in something dangerous.
Archer is a billionaire but he has his share of pain, losing his wife and unborn child he has locked away his feels and emotions away forever it seems but he requires a translator when he is selling part of his company, so Zoe steps in and turns his world around.
This is the next installment within the Dark Sparrow series and we learn more about Finch’s son’s when even more are introduced and the story starts getting darker and more violent as he tries to kill or ruin his bastard sons.
I absolutely love this series, it is not often you get to see a female character be the hero rescuing the alpha male and believe me these guys are not weak male figures. I love the way the story twists and turns and that the secrets are starting to reveal themselves with each of the sons stories coming through. I do have to admit I loved the character of Zoe and how she had to overcome things to show the love for Archer in the end.
I would recommend that you read the first book in this series as it sets up the underlying storyline but I believe it can be read as a stand alone but also. I can’t wait wait to read the next book which relates to Kai the loveable Hawaiian guy.
This is a great read! I loved that Zoe is nerdy and snarky. Her wit is fabulously executed. The way she doesn’t back down from Archer creates spectacular tension between them. I loved the reappearance of the two neighbor characters. The odd pairing adds a little comic relief when they bicker with each other. The complexity of Archer’s character is excellent. The fight scene in the club shows his demons a bit. Cold Bastard is an excellent reading adventure. It’ll keep you turning the pages.

Cold Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #2) by India Kells
This is the second book of A Dark Sparrow Novels. As the second book I’ve read by the author I can say I’ve enjoyed it. Kells knows how to capture a reader’s attention.
Zoe knows her languages and is requested by Beatrice for a favor. Keep an eye on one of Lazarus’s half brothers. Not sure what she’s getting herself into she goes. She finds herself going back to the past. The quote I chose for Zoe is: “You had love in your life, and even if you struggled and battled through some tough times, you had a choice to do something with it. Grabbing that power. I will never judge you for the decisions you made, that path on the dark side. I would have done the same thing. Hell, I’m doing it right now. At least love brought you back. You always have a choice, Archer. Never forget that.”
Archer Blackwood, moves from London to Chicago, a cold man needs someone who can translate languages for him. What he doesn’t know is his half brother is really looking out for him. Zoe has thawed the cold man a little. The quote I chose for Archer is: “Don’t put yourself in danger, do you hear me? Steer clear of Finch. You’re mine.”
Romance lovers this is one for you!

Cold Bastard is the second book in the Dark Sparrow written by India Kells is the first book that I have read by this author and she has me intrigued with this storyline/plot of this book/series. Zoe Somersby is a strong woman, independent, and sought for her code-breaking and translation skills is sent in undercover and finds herself falling for the man she has been sent to help Archer Blackwood.

I was completely unable to put this book down. This could be read as a standalone book but it includes people from other books in this series so I was looking forward to another romp in this crazy world. Every one of these books that I read grips me more than the previous one and I feel as though I may be utterly addicted to them. There is something about the fast paced adventure in these stories that keeps you flipping the pages and before you know it, the book is done, you are left bereft and looking for your next fix. This one tugged a little more on my heart strings than Wild Bastard, probably because I could see a little bit of myself in Zoe and I like that I could relate to her. As my addiction to India Kells and her writing grows, I will certainly be diving into the rest of this series with full enthusiasm.
Cold Bastard by India Kells is the second book in the Dark Sparrow series. I have manages to read the backwards but they can be read as standalones thankfully, however there are things that make more sense to me from book three.
Archer has moved his business from England to Chicago temporarily while he is trying to sell parts of his business and needs assistance which is how Zoe comes into the picture.
The heat between Archer and Zoe is off the charts and there is one scene I had to give myself a minute. Who knew a conversation could be so hot?
This book and series is a good mix of suspense, romance and comedy. There were some laugh out loud moments from a few different people, one of which I didn’t expect.
I can’t wait for the remaining books to come out in this series. It’s definitely going on my watch list.
I completely loved this book and was hooked from the first page. Its full of twists and turns, blackmail and lies as well as a romance.
Archer is a successful businessman but he is ice cold and doesnt allow anyone to get close to him. That is until Zoe turns up. Zoe is employed to watch over him as they think his father is planning to attack Archer. How wrong they all are.
The relationship between them grows but when Zoe’s brother’s life is threatened if she refuses to follow orders she has to take huge risks and decieve the man she loves to save his life and her brothers.
Cold Bastard by India Kells
A Dark Sparrow Novel
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Such a great book! The story was filled with steamy romance, drama and action making for an excellent read.
I just love Zoe. She is such a strong, independent, beautiful woman yet she is fragile and slightly self conscious. I am super impressed with her skills as a translator and kind of jealous she has such a great thing going for her with that. The chemistry between her and her new boss Archer is off the charts and I love them together. My heart breaks for Zoe, as sometimes she feels like she is not good enough for a man like him and then other times I want to scream at them both to just communicate better!
The drama that unfolds with Archer’s new business buy out and Zoe’s brother is super exciting and along with all the action, fighting and plotting, really gave the book that extra edge. The secondary characters are very loveable and just as interesting to get to know. I would highly recommend this book and I personally can not wait to read Kai and Izzy’s story.
Cold Bastard by India Kells is the second book in the Dark Sparrow series. I was really looking forward to reading this after reading the first book and I was not disappointed. The story is about Zoe Somersby and Archer Blackwood. Zoe had been brought in to work for Archer as an undercover agent.
The characters are well written and allowed the story to flow. There was lots of suspense and mystery as well as a little romance. I really like this is a well thought out story and the characters are interesting people. Everyone is not always what one would assume. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see where the story goes next.
This the second in the series I’ve read. It’s fast paced, unpredictable, complex characters, plot twists and an all-around great read. I’m looking forward to other books in this series and by this author. Great job, Ms. Kells
I love this book, it was page turner and I wanted more and more. I waiting for the next one 🙂
