I was all in.Down on one-knee. Love you forever. ALL in.But I destroyed it.Because that’s what I do.The worst part… town during the off-season.
Forced to do penance or I’m no longer the Dires’ goalie.
But Sophie’s still there and she’s not buying my acts of atonement.
Why would she?
I broke her heart.
She has no reason to forgive me, but I can’t skate this time.
I remember how it felt when we got under each other’s skin.
So does she.
Hot. Wicked. Hypnotic.
Maybe if I tell her the truth, we can start over.
Or, maybe I’ll lose her all over again.

This is book one in the Cold Love series. This book contains a very powerful story that kicks this series off so strongly. Meet Roman and Sophie, they were a great couple at one time but split up. Roman is the goalie for the Dires, hockey team or at least he still will be if he follows what his manager and coaches have him do. Roman is sent home and instructed to seek professional help if he wants to remain on the team. When he returns home, he sees Sophie. It has been four years but it doesn’t feel like these two have missed a beat. Can Sophie help Roman without getting her heart broken again? Can these two get a second chance as the truth unfolds or will it shatter everything? This was such a great story to read, I hooked right away. The story is strong and flows smoothly and the characters, they both will tear at your strings and make you feel all their feelings on this journey they are on. I cannot wait to read more of this series. Enjoy!

Sophie has loved Roman since they were in college together and before he made the NHL. He broke up with her for no reason just before he made it to the nationals.
Four years later, Roman is back in town. Roman still loves her, but she is fighting him. He eventually wins her over. There is a lot of conflict and things that occur to try to keep them apart, Sophie is attacked, Roman is threatened and taken by his Russian family, he makes deals to win, but this time, Roman is fighting for his love and doesn’t want to let Sophie go.
They finally get married and Roman wins his game. A great book to read.

I liked this book but I also had some complex feelings about it. I found the storyline entertaining but I had issues with both the characters. It was kind of a shame because I did like these two as a couple and they did have some cute and sweet moments together. I just simply found them annoying. I so wish that Sophie had been a character with more backbone. Her waffling and basic lack of self-respect was a huge turn-off for me. Can you say Doormat? What she said and how she acted were often in direct opposition of the other. Now normally, I would feel bad for a heroine that was treated the way she was. Unfortunately, I was eventualy forced into the position of she doesn’t care, so why should I? As for Roman, I felt he was so typical he was practically a cliché. From him I would have loved to see more emotion. I know his past and everything played a part in who and how he was but for me he came off too detached and I had a very tough time believing that his feelings for her were deep or meaningful. Add in that the story itself unfolds in such a way that left me wondering if she was simply his fallback plan or second choice. That for me was a fatal flaw in this book. I will be fair and say though that there are some good moment in this book and I felt it was a good read if not a great one.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is such a heart warming second chance story. I loved it. Yes there is heart break but the way that Sophie and Roman come back together is amazing. How she supports him even though she doesn’t want too. She still loves him after four years of being without him. It takes a major break down for Roman’s team manager, coach and agent to push him to seek help. They gave him no choice but to return back home and to seek help from a professional. Until he did that he wouldn’t come back to the team. When Sophie and Roman it’s like they were never apart.
