What Detective Brady St. John really needs is a relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, just as the sun is setting on his second day at a friend’s cabin on Lake Henley, he hears a scream and races to rescue a woman from her would-be killer. When the killer escapes only to return to finish the job, Brady vows to utilize all of his many resources to keep her safe–and catch those who would see her dead.… dead.
Financial crimes investigator Emily Chastain doesn’t trust many people. And even though she let the detective who saved her life in on a few pertinent facts about why she was being attacked, there are some things you just don’t share with a stranger. Little does she suspect that the secret she is keeping just might get them both killed.
Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason sends readers on a race for the truth in this heart-stopping story of risk, regret, and redemption.

A perfect combination of romance, suspense, and returning God into your life. Detective Brady St. John has just begun his time off at a friend’s lake cabin when he hears screams from the water. Running into the water he jumps in to save a woman who is struggling to get loose from her captor. This meeting of Emily Chastain who is a Financial Crimes Investigator for a bank and Detective Brady St. John begins another great book in Blue Justice series. Along with other members of Brady’s family they search for Emily’s missing friend Heather and try to solve the crimes that are connected to what Emily and her friend were already investigating. While Emily and Brady are slowly becoming friends Brady is slowly returning to God with the help of Emily. There are plenty of surprises in the storyline. This story is fine to read without reading the others.
Code of Valor by Lynette Eason is the third book in her Blue Justice series. The story starts off with a bang and keeps you on the edge of your seat till the end. Detective Brady St. John just wants a few days of peace, quiet and rest. Instead he rescues a damsel in distress. Emily Chastain has no idea why someone is trying to kill her all she knows is that she must escape. Then Brady comes to her aid and she finally has someone she can trust. I liked how Emily was able to change her view of herself with help from her friends. It shows how surrounding yourself with the positive can affect our attitude. Lynette draws her readers in and doesn’t let them go; even after the book ends the characters linger with you. For lovers of romantic suspense, this is a must read!
I received this book from the LibraryThing in exchange for my honest review.
This book is awesome. Detective Brady St John is trying to relax and unwind when he hears a scream coming from the lake, near where is is relaxing. He jumps into the freezing water to rescue the girl who has just gone into the water and the action, mystery and suspense begin. In this book you get to see more of the St John family and the closeness of the family. The banter between the “boys” lightens the suspense a little but as the story progresses and things get really tense it is all seriousness. It is a plot with lots of twists and some surprises and lots of suspense…and romance, of course.
Boy, that was intense!
In 48 hours, Emily Chastain has been kidnapped, shot at more than once, hit by a bullet, almost killed, and the list goes on. And you might be wondering how she comes out without being traumatized for life? Well, it’s merely impossible if wonderful souls haven’t shown up in her life, one of those souls being detective Brady St. John.
I really have been enjoying a lot this series! The dynamic, the relationship between the St John family, and the suspense. Though this book is mostly plot-driven, I’m impressed by how Lynette Eason masterfully draws out the personal side of the characters, letting them grow through the story.
I’m looking forward to reading Linc’s story!!
I loved this story. It was full of twist and turns.
Go on vacation expecting to have a relaxing time on the lake Brady hears a woman’s screams. Then the action truly starts & there is no relaxing time. Emily is a financial crimes investigator and now she’s in trouble. Dead bodies, kidnapping, arson, and the action keeps on. Emily is fortunate that Brady comes from a family of crime fighters.
I bought this book (pre-ordered) from a local bookstore and no one asked me to leave a review. All opinions expressed are my own. Lynette Eason is one of my top 10 favorite authors and she has never disappointed me. There is action, suspense, faith, the books are clean and there is a touch of romance. Highly recommend anything by this fabulous author.
Lynette Eason does it again. She reaches into the world of suspense and wraps me into a story filled with non-stop tension and loveable characters. Some new and some returning from the previous two books in the series. My favorite part of the novel was the last twenty percent when Eason hiked up the tension and captured my attention even more. Fans of high action suspense should pick Code of Valor up. Eason created another keeper for fans of suspense novels. I anxiously await for the fourth book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of Code of Valor by Lynette Eason from Revell Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
3.5 Stars
For those who have been following the St. John siblings in Lynette Eason’s Blue Justice series, it’s Brady’s turn. This time, he falls into his situation while on a much needed vacation.
As usual, Eason’s main focus is on the investigation with a few romantic moments in the mix. I appreciated Emily’s strong faith set against Brady’s doubt and questions. Both characters are easy to like and connect with.
There is a lot happening in this one. The book even opens with a different character than Emily or Brady, and at times, there are almost too many bad guys at cross-purposes. Add to that the St. John brood, some dive team members (fans of Lynn H. Blackburn’s Dive Team Investigations series will recognize a few friends), and readers who are new to this series are apt to find themselves a bit lost from time to time.
Thankfully, I’ve read the other Blue Justice Books (as well as the Blackburn’s books), so keeping track of most of the characters wasn’t a huge issue. And while this was an enjoyable, entertaining read, it wasn’t my favorite in the series. But that’s okay because there are two more single St. John brothers!

I loved it!!!!
This is the third installment in the Blue Justice series, but it’s definitely a stand alone story. This book is action packed, fast paced and pulled me in from the first page and kept me turning the pages until I finished it at 3 am. I considered this a one sitting read, because I just couldn’t put it down. This story contains elements of mystery, edge of your seat suspense, romantic tension, faith and love.
I believe this is my favorite of the series.
I immediately fell in love with Brady St. John. After a bad break up he threw himself into his work to try to forget some bad decisions and a broken heart. I think he was more embarrassed about the bad decisions than the broken heart though. He doesn’t question his ability to do his job, but does question himself when it comes to women. His sister convinces him to take a much needed vacation to get his straight and his heart right with God. Very good advice which he takes and lands him in a rental on Lake Henley with his dive suit, fishing poles and his bible.
Emily Chastain finds herself in a strange predicament, tied to a boat with a gun pointed at her head. For the life of her she can’t figure out who this man is or what she’s done to make him so mad as to want to kill her. With the sudden intervention of a stranger Emily finds herself free from one stranger, but suddenly unsure of who she can or should trust. Emily works at a bank as a financial crimes investigator and to look at her you would think she has a life of ease. Well, it’s anything but that. She grew up in an abusive household, ended up homeless and living on the streets. I love that her strength of character comes from her faith in God.
Emily and Brady suddenly find themselves in a run for their lives while trying to figure out exactly who wants Emily dead and why. Brady has help from members of his family, but he takes a personal interest in not only keeping Emily safe, but also bringing those to justice who have hurt her.
This is a book I would recommend to anyone who likes suspense or mystery.
*I received this book from the author via the publisher as part of their book bloggers program. I was not required to write a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Code of Valor is the third book in Lynette Eason’s Blue Justice series, but it can be read as a stand alone novel. Lynette Eason does not disappoint in her latest book. She wows her readers with a thrilling, action-filled romantic suspense novel that keeps you guessing! I was totally surprised on who the mastermind was in this novel.
Detective Brady St. John is at a family friend’s lake cabin for some time away to relax when he finds himself rescuing financial crimes investigator Emily Chastain from an attacker who is trying to take her life. Their search for answers of who is trying to kill her leads them both into danger, and even a chance at romance for Brady and Emily.
The book reminded a lot of the TV show Blue Bloods, which is one of my favorite shows. The St. John family is large family in which 5 of the 6 St. John siblings are involved in law enforcement, and their mother is the chief of police. I love the family dynamic between the six St. John siblings and how they still get together for family dinners despite their busy schedules.
This novel deals with criminals who are involved in human trafficking, but does not get into specifics like the second book in the series did. This book mainly focuses on the financial aspect of it as the hero and heroine are investigating the transferring of large sums of money to various accounts as it relates to the storyline. Once again, it was evident that Lynette Eason had done impeccable research when writing this novel. Code of Valor focused on the themes of forgiveness and redemption. The St. John family’s strong belief in God helped them face the difficult situations they encounter in their daily lives. During the difficult situations, some of the characters questioned why God let certain things happen, but they came to the realization that people have free will and make their own choices, whether it be good or bad.
I also liked the fact that the heroine of the story was not a size 2 blonde. She had chin length brown hair and was a couple sizes bigger than the typical heroine described in books. Her self-esteem issues throughout the book are issues that many of the readers can relate to.
I know readers will fall in love with the St. John family just like I did. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series when Linc St. John gets his own story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and Revell Publishing and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine. (After reading the copy from NetGalley, I enjoyed the book so much that I also purchased my own paperback copy!)
What a fabulous book to start the year of with!! I have loved this series about the St. John siblings, but this has been my favorite! Brady and Emily’s story is filled with heart stopping drama that leaves you on the edge of your seat on minute and grabbing for tissues the next.
Emily’s life has not been easy. She has had to overcome many challenges but still suffers from self image just like many women do. Her pain tugs at your heart strings while her strength you admire. She has to overcome many obstacles but her faith is strong regardless of what is thrown at her. I hope I would have the strong faith she demonstrated to figure those who hurt and harmed her.
Brady St. John is in law enforcement like his mother and siblings and also part of the dive team. He displays the integrity we have come to love from this family yet is struggling with his faith. He finds himself thrown into danger while on vacation to refocus. His chance encounter with saving Emily leads him and his family on a wild adventure. Along the way, he finds himself revisiting his faith and opening back up to God.
I loved their story and anxiously await catching up with Brady & Emily in the next book. I found myself challenged to have faith as strong as Emily’s and to learn to turn off the negative self image voices and see myself through the eyes of others but most importantly, God.
I received an advance copy of this book from Revell through Net Galley. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.
Code Of Valor is another superbly crafted novel by Lynette Eason. It opens with a bang and keeps up an intriguing and compelling pace through out the entire book. The mystery kept me guessing especially when it seemed the folks after Emily were on two different sides since one of the would be assassins were taken out by another bad guy! I really wasn’t sure how all the pieces fit and was excited to find out. And my “Dive Team Investigations” loving heart was THRILLED to see Gabe, Anissa, Ryan & Adam from Lynn Blackburn’s books make a cameo. That was awesome. This was an exciting read and I am eagerly waiting for Linc’s story this summer!! Can’t wait for it.
I received this book from the publisher and author. I was not required to post a positive review, all thoughts are my own.
Lynette Eason seems to up the ante with every novel she writes. Just when I think it is impossible for her to top her previous books, she manages to prove me wrong once again. I believe Code of Valor may be the best one yet so I am hoping she will continue the trend and make me gladly eat my words with her next book.
Featuring Brady, another brother in the St. John family, Code of Valor begins with an attempted murder and rescue that is only the introduction to a plot filled with murder and mayhem, escalating danger, and multiple secrets that could lead to death. Eason’s characters are well developed with strong personalities and convictions. I love how the members of the St. John family support each other as well as others who enter their fold. I also loved the interaction with characters from Lynn H. Blackburn’s Dive Team series. What fun! And what would a Lynette Eason suspense be without a bit of romance? The development of the relationship between Brady and Emily seemed natural even though it took place during a crisis situation.
Code of Valor is the perfect book for anyone who wants a novel that keeps you turning those pages while sometimes even dreading what comes next. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next one!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.

Another great book by Lynette Eason. An edge of your seat book that I couldn’t put down. There is action throughout the entire book. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, there was a twist. I love how the entire St John family comes together to help each other. When one of them is in trouble they are there immediately. This is book three in the Blue Justice series. It’s not necessary read the first two. But they are so good so I’d recommend them. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
I’ve come to love and look forward to spending time with the St. John family, and this time it is Brady’s turn, and most of this family at least peek in for a visit with us.
This book has it all, a bit of sweet romance, injustice, murder for greed, and non-stop action. Yes, you are going to be page turning for answers, and beware when they come you will be shaking your head, a big Wow to the Lynette Eason, I love how your mind works, I never would have come to the conclusion this book does.
I still want more visits with this family and author, this story will keep your attention for sure!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.
This was an awesome 3rd installment of this series! Brady and Emily get thrown together almost the minute I opened the book and their story grows deeper and more intriguing as it plays out. I couldn’t put it down!
There was something about this third book in the Blue Justice series that really touched my heart. I’m not sure if it was Emily’s life story or Brady’s sensitivity to her, but Lynette Eason did an excellent job in developing the characters in such a way that drew me in and wouldn’t let me go. As always, her storyline was riveting and exciting with enough twists and turns and action to keep me on my toes. I am loving this series tremendously, and this one may be my favorite so far!
I am not sure I will be able to tell you how wonderful this book and series is, but I will try. Emily Chastain has uncovered discrepancies in her work as a financial-crimes investigator at her bank. She had shared her concern, over these discrepancies, with her best friend Heather, an investigative reporter. Now Heather is missing and Emily has been abducted. Emily is minutes away from being killed and thrown in to a lake when Detective Brady St. John (just love the St. John family), who is at a lake cabin relaxing, hears her scream. He rescues Emily and from there on it is an action-packed race to find Heather and to discover why people are trying to kill Emily. Emily had a difficult time as a teenager and has become a strong and independent woman, while Brady has dealt with an issue in his own past. Brady’s family (who are all involved in law enforcement) and his “brothers in blue”, will chase down suspects until they find out who is behind this far reaching plot. I have read the “Blue Justice” series and loved each book. Ms. Eason is such a gifted author that she brings the St. John family “to life” as you get to know each character and their story. I can’t wait for the next story (but will have to as it is not due out until August…which if you have not read the series will give you plenty of time to catch up). I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Code of Valor is the third book in the Blue Justice series and may be my favorite yet. There was suspense and and action on practically every page. What I enjoyed was the banter between the siblings. I dont remember that so much in the others. There may have been and I just forgot. But I love this family!! The romance was sweet and my heart went out to the heroine, Emily. She had been through so much and was a brave and strong young woman.
Even though this is the third book I believe it could be read as a stand alone with no problem.
*I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. I was under no obligation to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
Brady is on vacation when he hears a scream, he dives in and rescues her, Emily does not know why someone wants her died, but someone is now after both of them. who can they trust. the more they try to find out what is going on the more people are hurt or missing. if you like suspense and some romance you have to read the book
