As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I’m no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the President comes seeking a favor to protect his niece, I find myself on the fast … fast track back to the Oval Office.
Simply put… she’s beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn’t believe she’s in any real danger, the President isn’t willing to take chances with her life.
As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, I decide taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation, and attraction ensure we grow closer than I’d ever thought possible. When I realize I want to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with my job and everything to do with the woman I’ve fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell I’ll rain down on those that threaten her.

Another great read by Sawyer Bennett. While all of her books are filled romance, erotic endeavors, steamy chemisty and phenonemal characters, Sentinel has so much more. It has adventure, and action as well as steamy romantic amazing characters. Cruce has to protect Barrett from people who want her energy formula but it turns to a passionate private getaway while trying to keep her safe. All Barrett knows is her work. She doesn’t have time to have a social life or even a life outside of the lab. When she is forced to go “off the grid” with Cruce he shows her exactly what she has been missing. She starts to realize what she has been missing and now that she has experienced them she doesn’t want to live without them. She wants to start living and enjoy life. She doesn’t want to regret not living. When she looks back on her life she doesn’t want to say I should have done that but I didn’t.
Sawyer Bennett gives her readers everything and so much more. You never know what type of story she is going to tell only that it will leave you always satisfied and keep you coming back for more.
As I have come to expect with this series by Sawyer Bennett, it was another rollercoaster ride of a story. I am loving this Security company series. I will admit this book took me a few pages to get into, but once the action started, I was completely in. Loved Cruce and Barrett as a couple, but even more so enjoyed the suspense and action in this book. Barrett being a nerdy scientist who is always working, and Cruce who has been tasked with watching over her. What could go wrong when Barrett is carrying around a secret formula for the country. Fun, action packed story!
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. A great mix of suspense, sexiness, and tenderness.
“Maybe it’s not those piercing blue eyes that have me disconcerted. Perhaps it’s the entire package.”.
Barrett Alexander is a young woman with a genius IQ and mission to crack the formula for clean, efficient energy that could change the world. She’s also the president’s niece. When her life appears to be under threat, Jameson Force Security are hired to protect her. Namely, Cruce Britton – the man who once saved the president’s life. There’s no one the president trusts more.
“There’s no thought to what I do. I just know she belongs in my arms, so I lean forward to pull her into a tight embrace.”
Cruce takes his job seriously, which means that he needs to squash the inconvenient attraction he feels for Barrett. When they take themselves off-grid, that attraction becomes much harder to ignore when they are at such close quarters and only have each for company. Once they cross the line, there’s no turning back, but Cruce can’t afford to let his guard down while Barret’s life is still under threat.
I loved the slow-burn of attraction between Cruce and Barrett. Both are pretty serious people and put everything into their jobs, but I enjoyed the rapport they built and the enjoyment they had in each other’s company. I loved how Cruce changed Barrett’s outlook and focus on life, and the dedication he showed to her safety and well-being. Overall, this was a fantastic, sexy suspenseful read.
CODE NAME: SENTINEL, a romantic suspense standalone, is available now from Sawyer Bennett!
She’s an energy scientist on the verge of a breakthrough (and the president’s niece)
He’s new to the team at Jameson Force Security following a career in the Secret Service (and just happened to save the life of the then vice president)
Now he’s been hired to protect her against a suspected kidnapping plot
What could possibly go wrong? (Hint: EVERYTHING)
Code Name: Sentinel is available now in digital, print, and audio (narrated by Jason Clarke and Lucy Rivers)!
4.5 stars!
Like the rest of the Jameson Group series, this book packed a lot of punch. Barrett is a scientist/physicist who is working on a big energy breakthrough and is related to the POTUS. Cruce saved the President’s life when he was secret service. So naturally, the POTUS only wants Cruce when they get word Barrett could be in danger. As Cruce and Barrett are thrown together, they quickly develop a friendship and attraction. Danger begins to unfold and things escalate.
This book has great writing as always with plenty of character development and world building. We get plenty of insight and introductions to the Jameson Group and it’s operatives. It has plenty of romance but also has a lot of suspense. Barrett is a bit of a bad ass who really impressed me.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m a huge fan of Sawyer Bennett and this series. Side note, although it’s part of a series it can be read as a standalone. Interconnected standalones are my jam! I highly recommend!

This series about the Jameson Force Group is turning into a fast favorite. Each member has special qualities they bring to the table to assist on missions. Every new edition, I seem to love them even more. And getting to hear the story come to life is amazing. I truly enjoy having Jason Clarke crooning in my ear. He has the ability to be gruff and commanding as well as sensitive and sympathetic, so all the emotions. This is my first time listening to Lucy Rivers and I feel she did a great job depicting Barrett, although I wasn’t a fan of her male voices.
Cruce Britton had a successful career with the Secret Service and has now joined Kynan and his team in Pittsburgh. He knows people in high places, so when the President asks for a meeting, he and Kynan make their way to DC and see what their services are needed for. President Alexander’s niece is in danger and he wants the best man to protect her. Cruce has formed a trusting relationship with him, and there is no better man to handle this delicate situation. What starts out as a small threat, escalates quickly with no other option but to go off the grid.
Barrett Alexander is a genius. She has multiple degrees including two PhDs, so to say she’s smart is an understatement and she is now working on a top secret project for the government. She is one of those characters that is oblivious to what’s happening around her and concentrates on her job solely. She needs Cruce to protect her but she also learns he can teach her a thing or two in relaxing, among other activities to fill in the time they spend together.
This story begins with some anxious tension, leads into sexual tension and then flips into a fast paced mission. Cruce is definitely one to have on your team. He is very dependable and capable of getting a job done right the first time. His devotion for Barrett was adorable. She was super sweet too. I loved her smarts and her tremendous strength in hanging in there. She just needs to believe in miracles and other’s abilities. This book is an excellent addition to the collection and I’m happy to know there are two more books to come.
I absolutely love when the brain is the sexiest part of a person, don’t get me wrong Barrett Alexander is a beautiful woman but her brain is magnificent! She is working on a formula that can change the world as we know it, her Uncle the President of the United States, is hoping she can help third world countries but there are people out there that don’t want that to happen. Hence the need for Jameson Force Security.
Cruce Britton saved the President’s life when he was with the Secret Service so who better to protect his niece? Well, lets just say that the President didn’t expect the chemistry that the two had because both of them are such workaholics nothing seems to come before that.
The chemistry was amazing but when you add in the suspense of being hunted down and having to hide on a remote island it brings it defcon level 1. HOT HOT HOT
Code Name: Sentinel is the second book in the Jameson Force Security Series and each can be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading this series in order because prior couples are bound to pop up which happened in this book, but again it’s just a recommendation not a requirement.
Happy Reading!!!
Another great romantic suspense. I enjoyed seeing Barrett figure out how to have a balanced life and Cruce’s role in helping her. A definite winner!
Code name:Sentinel is the second book in the Jameson force security series. Cruce is former secret service and is now part of the Jameson Force security. When the presidents niece is in danger he is brought back to protect her. Barrett Alexander is a scientist that holds information that could put her life in danger. Will Cruce be able to keep her safe? I loved this book! This series just keeps getting better!!
4.5 stars
Cruce has a special place in his heart for the POTUS whose life he saved when he was in the Secret Service, and there is no way he can say no when the President wants to hire Jameson to protect his niece from a loosely defined but credible threat. Fortunately Kynan is on board, and Cruce finds himself plunged back into life in Washington DC again.
Barrett is all sexy nerd, wholly focused on her work to the exclusion of everything else. She is absolutely brilliant; she graduated high school at 16 and went into MIT immediately from there. Now her work could prove to be the key to free energy which makes some people very nervous at the prospect of losing their millions. Barrett doesn’t want to believe her life is truly in danger, and having one sexy hunk of man constantly in her space throws her perfectly ordered world into disarray until a foiled kidnapping attempt shocks her into acceptance.
There is a little bit of instalove as they fall hard and fast when they forced into seclusion off the grid while Kynan and the team scramble to find out who is behind the threat. Even as Barrett focuses on trying to complete her research since that will hold the key to her freedom, Cruce makes her realize what she has missed out on in life by being so laser focused on her work. The question is: what comes next after they are able to return to their regularly scheduled lives?
Reading Code Name: Sentinel was like slipping on a comfortable pair of shoes… it just felt right and put a big smile on my face as I settled in to get to know Cruce and Barrett! I really enjoyed their story and I am looking forward to getting know more about this intriguing team.
Just what I expected from Sawyer bennett…..fast paced, well thought out characters, great story, lots of steam and the alpha male that makes you gooey inside. Barrett and Cruce are fantastic together. Barrett is a scientist on the verge of a breakthrough and when he uncle catches wind she maybe in danger, he calls the only man he trust with keeping her safe Cruce……
A light, entertaining read with issues
Book 2 in the Code Name series, I’ve been a fan of this author’s other work—and I loved the tie to the Cold Fury and Arizona Vengeance books mentioned early on—so I thought I’d give this a try, especially since suspense romance is one of my favorite genres. I didn’t read the first book in the series, and while there are brief mentions of the events in book 1, I didn’t feel I was missing out on anything starting the series here.
A fast paced story, I liked the setup and main plot, and generally found the book entertaining but I did have several issues with it. Maybe I was just expecting too much (the most recent Wicked Horse book will probably make my favorite reads of 2019 list), but I would have liked a little more depth at points, in the development of Cruce and Barrett’s relationship for one, and it seemed like we’re being told things but not really shown them. It just felt a little superficial to me, but I came into this after a angst filled read with lots of emotion, so it could just be the contrast between the two books making me feel that way.
My biggest problem with the book is Barrett herself. While I liked that she was smart and didn’t fall to pieces at the first sign of adversity, she didn’t really SHOW she was smart. Dialogue is a key part of the story for me, and Barrett’s language never really seemed to match her education and profession. And then there was the too stupid to live moment (a pet peeve for me); I get that genius doesn’t equal common sense, but when she’s clearly told not to do something and does it anyway—honestly, my eyes were rolling so hard! She knew she was wrong, was feeling guilty about it, yet when she had a chance to come clean, she didn’t. Blech. I also found it hard to believe how fast she got over what happened to her.
The genius of this author is that I still basically enjoyed the book in spite of the problems I had with it. A good book if you’re looking for a light, fast read. 3.5 stars
B2B Kelly
Lots of action and excitement in the newest addition to the Jameson Force Security series. Previous characters from the first book appear, but Code Name: Sentinel can definitely be read as a standalone.
I really enjoyed this protector/forced proximity romance featuring Cruce and Barrett. They had wonderful chemistry and I loved the build up and tension between them. When things finally boil over with them, it was H-O-T!! I could see many of the scenes playing out in my mind like a movie. Parts of the book were a little predictable and others resolved a little too easily, but it didn’t diminish my enjoyment. The epilogue left me with a smile on my face and I’m excited to see that Saint’s story is next!

Audiobook Review
Overall 4 stars
Performance 3 stars
Story 4 stars
Jason Clarke continues to be one of my very favorite male narrators! He was amazing as Cruce and really embodied the over protective alpha hero so well. I love his range, switching from playful to serious, and also tackling both male and female voices. Even his British accent as Kynan had me swooning. Lucy Rivers’ performance as Barrett unfortunately fell a little flat for me. I have listened to other titles narrated by her, but this time it just didn’t work. I found her voice too monotone and her male and female voices were almost the same. When I read the ebook I loved Barrett (even if she does sometimes make some questionable decisions), but I just couldn’t get on board with her chapters in the audiobook. Still a compelling and action filled listen, but I enjoyed Cruce’s chapters much more.
Cruse is a former secret service agent that has joined Jameson Force. However when the President of the United States calls and asks you to protect his brilliant neice you can’t really say no.
Barrett’s a scientist on the verge of a world changing breakthrough. She doesn’t think she is in danger.
Sawyer Bennett has done it again. This story is better than the first in the series and the first was unputdownable (is that a word?). If you like strong characters, s little suspense and a great story, I recommend you read this one. But dont forget to read the first one also.
4.5 stars – I have a Cruce crush!!
So I am totally loving this new series from Sawyer Bennett and a regular dose of my man, Kynan – perfection!! Although now I have a crush on Cruce too!!
Cruce is beyond cool and so swoony in his protectiveness. We learn in Book 1 that he is a former Secret Service agent who saved then VP Jonathan Alexander’s life. That plays into this story seeing as how Cruce’s current assignment is to protect now President Alexander’s niece. Seems like a role right up his alley.
However, things get complicated when feelings get involved. This book is steamy and I love Cruce and Barrett’s chemistry. She is super smart, sexy yet nerdy and very independent. There are parts of the story that are hard to get through as Barrett goes through A LOT!! But Cruce is there to pick up the pieces!!
This book is exciting, sexy, difficult, but such a romantic ending!!
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
Wow! This series is fast becoming my new obsession. Filled with action, danger, suspense, sizzling chemistry, lust, romance, and intense sex scenes, that will keep you on the edge of your seat. No matter what the genre, Sawyer Bennett always delivers something extraordinary.
A charming, brave hero who’s as sexy as sin and a smart, independent, naive heroine, Cruce and Barrett’s story is amazing. Their attraction is immediate and mutual, as these two are forced off the grid and on the run, to protect Barrett and her fusion energy formula. But as they hide in paradise, they soon realize what is truly important. But when their position is compromised will these two make it, or will it be too little too late for a HEA? You don’t want to miss this one, so quit reading and get this book now!
Loved getting an in-depth introduction to more new members of the Jameson Force Security team and I cant wait for the next in this series!!!
This is book #2, in the Jameson Force Security series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to better understand the series, I recommend reading it in the order intended.
Cruce is proud to be a part of a new group. While different, yet still the same intention, he works well with his team and glad to do it. Then he meets his new assignment. She is sure to be a challenge, but he vows to keep her safe.
Barrett is having a hard time believing anyone would need to harm her. She barely lives – so what is to come to her to accomplish? Her ideas can be great, but until she puts them into action it still seems awfully premature. Then the unspeakable happens……
This couple was just a spark, dare I say a kiss, away from igniting. They are both professionals who take their jobs seriously. Like all of this author’s books – it is fast paced while at the same time sexy as hell. Only this one was more subtle than most. I found the story extremely interesting. While the leads playing off one another sealed the deal for me. This was a great addition to the series.

Omg Cruce is amazing I luv him !!
This series is brilliant so far. I luvd the first so much but this book was just had good. I was excited when I found out this book was goin to be Cruce. He found him mysterious in the first book and was looking forward to getting to know more about him. This guy is super sexy and a hero. No he is a hero he saved the US President from getting shot. But he has stepped down and is now working with the Jamison guys. But his first mission ends up being for the US President and it’s to protect his niece Barrett.
Barrett I luv this woman. She is so hard-working all this woman has done is work she hasn’t really loved a life like a normal young woman. Her work means everything to her and what she does is important. But now her work is causing drama cause the formula she is working on is wanted by someone else and there so long to do anything to get it from her. Even with this all goin on she is still funny at times and is up beat I really liked her and her personality. When things were getting worst everyday she still did has they asked she never fought them she just listened and did it. She might not of been happy but she just kept her head up and did it. Barrett hasnt had the easiest of lives but she has dealt well with it. The President might be her uncle but she was so close to him and after everything she has been through he means the world to her and she will do anything to make him happy.
I really enjoyed this book it kept me in my toes throughout the whole book. I was dying to know who was causing all the trouble for Barrett. It was really good to see the walls start to come down with Cruce. His work is important to him and he takes it really serious but it hard to stay that why when you have a gorgeous intelligent woman living with and near you. There attraction to each other was hot they were really great together and were good for each other. They both needed each other to take themselves away from work. It was a break they both needed. I’m really looking forward to more of this series I can’t wait for Bebe and Saints books. There characters have caught my interest and I dying to know more about them. I would highly recommend this book and series.
This fast-paced romantic suspense hooked me right from the first page and kept me entertained until the very end. I love how this author creates likable, well-developed characters and mixes that right amount of action and suspense with romance and kindle-melting chemistry.
Barrett is an exceptionally brilliant scientist who happens to be the niece of the president and her research has put her in the sights of some rather unsavory people. With her life on the line, the president turns towards retired secret service agent and current Jameson Force Security member, Cruce. Cruce is in full blown protective mode and sparks fly as these two find themselves in the cross hairs of someone who wants to steal Barrett’s free energy formula.
Cruce is everything that I hoped for as a hero in that he is strong, sexy, and very protective of Barrett. He seems to really understand her and her hyper-focused mindset, but he also helps draw her out of her work bubble. I was concerned that with Barrett’s single-minded focus on work that she would be difficult to related to, but I was very wrong. She is an engaging heroine that is kind, highly intelligent, and comes to recognize through her time with Cruce that she is missing out on simply living life. The two of them are opposites and it was fun to watch their relationship evolve into something that went beyond client and bodyguard. This book has a fair amount of action and suspense which I loved and I also enjoyed seeing of the other members from Jameson Force Security. While this is book 2 in the series, Cruce and Barrett’s story can be read as a standalone.
I am absolutely loving the guys of Jameson! Everything about this book was great. The characters, the settings and storyline. A slow burn that exploded in steam and edge of my seat suspense.
