As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I’m no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the President comes seeking a favor to protect his niece, I find myself on the fast … fast track back to the Oval Office.
Simply put… she’s beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn’t believe she’s in any real danger, the President isn’t willing to take chances with her life.
As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, I decide taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation, and attraction ensure we grow closer than I’d ever thought possible. When I realize I want to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with my job and everything to do with the woman I’ve fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell I’ll rain down on those that threaten her.

That was a nail biter!!!
Sawyer Bennett once again delivers a fun, steamy, suspenseful and amazing story! I loved that these are two characters who are on the opposite end of the spectrum but they had this amazing connection. And I loved following their story! Towards the end was fantastic! I was on the edge my seat with anticipation wanting to know what was going to happen!
But the author did a great job creating this story but also creating this entire world and I am looking forward to seeing what is next!
Holy wow! Bennett did it again. This book has it all. There’s a brilliant woman, alpha male, and lots of action. Get your mind out of the gutter (well, not really) cause this book is a thrill ride. Can’t wait to see where this series goes next!
Whimsical and steamy with amazing character development and action!
HOLY CANNOLI THE SUSPENSE! After successfully saving the president’s life, Cruce retires to Jameson Force Security for a new adventure. But when the president reaches out on his private account asking for a personal favor, he can only agree, no matter the favor. The favor turns out to be protecting his niece, Barrett, who has been working on a sensitive project, which is brought up on chatter from the country’s enemies. Devoted to her work and not happy with any change in her routine of constant work, Barrett is confused that her uncle would hire private security especially to protect her of all people. Indulging him, Barrett follows along with letting Cruce protect her, not believing in any threat to her life. But when there is an attempted kidnapping right under her nose, Barrett is shocked and realizes the threat and Cruce’s protection. Through protecting Cruce, he is immediately attracted, but is determined to focus on her safety rather than his budding feelings. Going to a safe house of sorts in order to fully protect her, Cruce starts to break Barrett’s shell of living and breathing work, and makes her experience more of life and less obsessing over work, and she decides to act on the increasing feelings towards him. With new insight, she finally cracks the code, and against everyone (especially Cruce’s) wishes, she reaches out to her uncle and her assistant letting them know, and when it leads to a successful kidnapping of Barrett, Cruce does anything and everything he possibly can to get her back and safely. This series from Sawyer just keeps getting better and I can’t get enough! The suspense and romance is off the charts and I thoroughly enjoy her writing. Total sidebar, also partial to this series because I’m born and raised in Pittsburgh, and of course have Pittsburgh Pride! Can’t wait for the next installment in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Welcome back to the Jameson Force Security family!
This is the 2nd book in the series and a stand-alone, but as always I would start with the first book to get to know the characters.
This story is about Cruce, former Secret Service agent, now working for Kynan. He used to protect the VP, now President. Who has a niece, Barrett, who could be in danger. And needs protection.
This story fascinated me from the first to the last page, and had me glued to my kindle. As all books of this author, I like the connection to the characters I have. They are likable and lovable. They both have a lot of chemistry, and I could totally vision this story in real life!
I kindly received an arc for an honest review
Wow. What an amazing story. It is unusual for the female lead to go through physical torture, but that is what happened here. Cruce went through mental anguish, but Barrett had to suffer the physical consequences. My only criticism was we didn’t see the mental/emotional fallout from the physical abuse. But that could be a book all by itself.
Being related to the president and a brainiac are tough jobs. Barrett has always felt removed from the dangers, but now danger is her middle name. She doesn’t know how to have fun and relax, but Cruce will make sure she learns. Cruce is good for her. He loosens her up and yet challenges her. Barrett makes him want more out of life than he thought was possible for him. Everyone else can see they are in love, but they are denying it. Until …
I am enjoying this series so far. I’m looking forward to the next book to see who falls, for whom and what kind of trouble or danger they get into. Bring on more Jameson Force Security.
Code Name: Sentinel was a very intriguing and interesting book. The storyline sucked me in and had me curious. Cruce is a strong, smart, and tough guy. He’s very protective of Barrett for obvious reasons, but he’s also very caring and gets her out of her bubble. Barrett lives in her own little world, basically just consisting of her work. She’s a bit of a mess at times, but she’s entertaining. Her and Cruce are very cute together. I love how they work together and just seem to fit. The whole Jameson group is a great bunch and I can’t wait for more from the series!
Whilst this is the second book in the Jameson Force Security series, this can be read on a stand alone basis.
This book was fast paced, full of action and a real page turner. The romance element was a wee bit predictable but that aside, I loved the chemistry between Cruce and Barrett and really enjoyed the build up between them.
I’m really looking forward to the next book from this series.
When you are smart and are working on a mind blowing formula for free energy of course someone wants to kidnap you .. duhhhh
Barrett Alexander also so happens to be the Presidents niece sooooo who better to guard her but the former President’s Secret Service Agent .. your friend Cruce Britton .. will do anything the President ask’s including babysitting his niece.
I have to say this was the most INTRIGUING book I ever read of Sawyers .. I have to say some parts were so descriptive I felt like I was on the pages with Barrett !! The writing in this installment of the Code Name was so well done it gave me a book hangover !!
Can Cruce and Barrett fall for each other even though they are included in a business agreement ?? I SAY YES !! There chemistry and liking being out of the public eyes suits them both just fine but when a explosive with bright flashes throws them for a loop .. a ride for there lives is what they get !!
Edited after listing to Audible version. Kudos Ms. Bennett for writing this fabulous story, and to Jason Clarke, Lucy Rivers for performing the story so phenomenally!! Congratulation on this fabulous corroboration.
After reading a good many books by Sawyer Bennett, I have come to the realization that she does not know how to create a character that is less than phenomenal, be it a lawyer, a hockey player, a club owner, or as in her latest release Code Name: Sentinel, the 2nd book in her Jameson Force Security series, a secret service agent and scientist.
The heroine in this fabulous book is Barrett Alexander. She is the scientist of this duo. She is one kick a…butt smart cookie. The latest project she is working on will have the capacity to help the world. However, someone does not want to help the world and will do anything they can to stop her, including kidnap her.
Cruce Britton may have retired from the Secret Service, but the President knows Cruce is still the man to protect his niece, Barrett. The President calls in favors and requests Cruce and Jameson Force Security to protect Barrett when intel comes to the President indicating that she is in danger.
I really loved this book. I especially liked the big, bad, take no prisoners, secret service agent, Cruce fall. Fall in love that is. I really got a kick out of watching Cruce do everything he could possibly think of not to fall. I also loved watching him go all “mother hen/papa bear” on Barrett when she barely came up to breathe or eat, let alone rest. She is one dedicated woman!!! And, Cruce is determined NO ONE is going to get near her to kidnap her. But your know what they say about the best made plans….
I do know that when I was gifted with a copy of this book, and read the blurb, I could not wait for it to hit my Kindle so I could start reading it.
And after reading it…. I could not wait to listen to it yet again!!! It was just that good!! The narrators, Jason Clarke, Lucy Rivers were pure perfection telling the story. They brought it so much more to life. I could actually see what was happening in my mind. Someday, this may get me into some major trouble when I really start seeing the scene and I am say driving…
In my opinion, this book is phenomenal, and I can’t wait to read and listen to the rest of the series. All of the characters we have been introduced to seem so interesting and I cannot wait to read more about them. I wonder who will be next.
Thank you for reading my review. I really think that if you like romance, with a side of intrigue, this Audible book is definitely for you.
Loved it! Code Name: Sentinel is the 2nd book in Jameson Force Security. This is Cruce Britton and Barrett Alexander’s story.
Cruce works for Kynan McGrath the owner of Jameson Force Security (also Kynan was the lead character in Codename: Genesis – book 1). The President of the United States wants Cruce to protect his niece Barrett. She is a energy scientist working on something that other countries may want the formula that she is working on.
What unfolds is some pretty hot chemistry between Cruce and Barrett while he is protecting her.
There’s romance, there’s suspense, there’s action and there was also a little RAMBO-esque happening here. Yep, you can find the meaning of Ramoboesque on the internet. But if you watched Rambo you will know what I am mean.
I love how Sawyer Bennett intermingles some of her other series in with her books. The Carolina Cold Fury and Arizona Vengeance were mentioned in this book.
Sawyer Bennett is easily one of my go to authors when I want to read a great story, that will drag me in and not let me go until I read The End!
5 stars for Code Name: Sentinel!
Code Name: Sentinel is the second book in the Jameson Force Security series by the ever-talented, Sawyer Bennett. I have been following her series and spin-offs for years. It’s so much fun when she starts a new spinoff series and connecting the books. That being said you can still read each book as standalone. I did meet Cruce as the new hire in Code Name: Genesis and was excited to find out that he was getting his own story. The synopsis explains it perfectly so this should be fast.
Cruce left Washington D.C to start fresh in Pittsburg at Jameson Force but after only one assignment he was back. When the president calls you answer. And when he asks you to protect his niece? You don’t let her out of your sight even if she doesn’t want you to be there.
Barrett is so close to figuring out the formula that can change the world. She didn’t have time to be in any kind of danger. She didn’t even believe she was until one thing led to another. Now, she was with the intense and intriguing handsome Cruce twenty-four seven. It was not a hardship but it was hard to keep her hands to herself.
I can’t really get into more than that but I will say that I loved every minute. Well, not every minute. You will see the minutes I didn’t love when you read it. Anyway, I enjoyed Cruce and Barrett’s story so much. The way they get to know each other. The obstacles. The sweetness along with the sexiness.
Overall…it was fantastic and I can’t wait for the next book.
Quotes:
A too-damn-attractive Cruce who’s wearing a tuxedo way too well. Eyes widening, I freeze, idly wondering how long I can stare before it becomes truly awkward.
“Your eyes are on my ass, aren’t they?” Barrett’s voice penetrates my thoughts, and I stumble again. I right myself, guiltily lowering my gaze down to the path so I can walk straight, but I mutter an admission, “Just a man, Barrett. Not a saint.” She snorts in reply, so I defiantly look at her ass again, the whole way down.
Only one word comes to mind with this one—domination.
Jameson Force Security’s Cruce Britton has some serious background experience, as he comes from Washington D.C. as a former Secret Service Agent to the former Vice President (now President) himself. He left Washington to work for Kynan in the private sector, at Jameson’s Pittsburgh Office. He gets an unexpected phone call from President Alexander, who is worried for his niece’s (Barrett’s) safety. Barrett Alexander works for The Praemium Group and is right on the cusp of discovering the formula for Fusion Energy, which could provide the world with clean, efficient energy. The President has caught wind of some vague intel, which mentions Barrett’s name & her research, but not enough to warrant a full military or intelligence investigation. President Alexander asks Cruce to take on the role of Bodyguard for Barrett, while the other members at Jameson will dig in to see if this threat is legit. Cruce can’t say no to him, as he has amazing respect for the President, so of course he says yes.
Barrett is the quintessential scientist, who’s whole life has been nothing but schools, degrees and her work. She lives, sleeps, eats & breathes her Research to the point of being anti-social. She thrives on routines & independence, so when her Uncle shows up at her house for dinner with 2 men (Kynan & Cruce) and 2 Secret Service Agents, she knows something’s up. Shocked to find out the reason he’s come is because it’s about her & not her Uncle, Barrett is definitely less than thrilled that these people will be intruding in her life to provide her with additional security she feels is unwarranted.
From here, the story takes off as Cruce and the Jameson Team try & keep Barrett from getting kidnapped, while also trying to discover who exactly is behind the threat to get hold of Barrett’s work before the U.S. can claim it.
This book was Ah-Mazing! Sawyer does a fantastic job of dealing with the intricacies of government agencies with power & money who think they can do whatever they want, while watching the relationship between Cruce & Barrett slowly begin to develop. It was really sweet to watch! I was cheering for them through the whole story!
Loved this book!!! (And p.s.: Cage, from Jameson, is a Hoot & a Half!!!)
Cruce and Barrett’s story was phenomenal! Her level of commitment to her job was astounding. Honestly, I go to work everyday and can’t wait for the time to clock out. Not Barrett. She forgets to eat (something I’d NEVER do), forgets the time and everything. Cruce was very good man. He’s done some questionable (yet honorable things) that he kind of held on to, even though he would tell you the opposite.
Awesome story and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Cruce is a former Secret Service member who saved the Vice President’s life. Now, the VP is the new President and his niece, Barrett, is in danger. Barrett is on the edge of figuring out some cutting technology that could help save the world. The President has asked Cruce to be Barrett’s personal security. Over time, Cruce and Barrett grow closer together because they spend a lot of time together. They get to know each other personally, and also realize they have an attraction to each other they just cannot deny. This is truly a story where the nerdy, quirky girl gets the hot guy!! Their chemistry was hot and the story line was exciting!
Cruce Britton used to work in the Secret Service protecting Jonathan Alexander, then Vice President of the United States. Now Jonathan is the President of the United States and has requested that Cruce and his boss, Kynan McGrath, owner of Jameson Force Security, fly into Washington D.C. for a private meeting.
The President is concerned about some chatter that was intercepted regarding the groundbreaking work that his niece, Barrett Alexander is working on and would like to hire Cruce to be her personal security. Of course Cruce agrees.
Barrett is used to being in her own little world. Most of her days are spent doing research and that is fine to her so when her uncle informs her that she will be have 24/7 security she is not happy but agrees. As Cruce and Barrett spend more time together the sparks begin to fly! When a kidnapping attempt is made, Cruce decides to take Barrett to a hidden destination which happens to be on a private tropical island…..now the real fun will begin! Being secluded together will push them just enough to give into their desires. Just when it looks like they may have found their perfect match, outside forces come in to blow everything apart. It will take two very determined individuals to be able to win against this danger so Barrett and Cruce and finally get their happy ending.
I just adored Cruce…tall, dark and perfect! I loved how he was so drawn to the quirky, nerdy Barrett. Barrett is beyond smart and some might say naive to the ways of the world but deep down she is a good person. I loved how Cruce was able to make her see that there are other parts to a life than just work. Together they just worked.
As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I’m no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. LOVED Cruce & Barrett’s story!! I loved how quirky Barrett is! There were several LOL moments for me while reading this book! Their story was flawlessly and beautifully written. As different as they were they absolutely awesome together!
I just love Ms. Bennett’s books! Cruce works for Jameson Force Security in the Pittsburg office. He used to work for the Secret Service and saved the President’s life. The President contacts him for a favor. He wants the company to give his niece Barrett security as she has a new system that will give every country free water, and her name was mentioned in chatter with our enemies. Barrett is one smart, focused woman who can work 18 hours a day with no problem. She at first doesn’t know what to do when Cruce makes her leave work early and take breaks when she is working from home. Cruce is a great guy that is dedicated to his work and will take a gunshot for anyone he is protecting. Everything starts to heat up and we see enemies, lots of action, lies, romance and so much more. I loved Cruce and Barrett together. Their heat level was high! I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
***4 Stars***
After finishing Code Name: Genesis, Cruce was one of the characters that was towards the top of my list of favs and he did not disappoint in this baby, neither did Barrett. This was fun, smexy read with just enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages and had me wanting more when there were no more pages to turn.
I loved Cruce and Barrett. Cruce is that rare mix of laid back and intense that kept me on my toes and had me wanting more of him. He’s charismatic, determined and smexy as all get out. Barrett is focused. Once this woman takes on a task, she doesn’t let go until she absolutely satisfied. This does cause her to be a bit too focused at times and she gets lost in what she’s doing, but when she can be pulled out of the zone, she’s funny, sweet and snarky.
Their journey to their HEA was definitely intense, considering that someone was looking to kidnap Barrett, but I really enjoyed them together. While they are opposites in many ways, they are passionate about what they do and that built a common ground to build upon. The mutual respect and admiration they had for each other was strong, as was the chemistry between them. I loved their bantering and how they gave each other what they needed without knowing it.
I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was engaging and I like how it all played out, but more than that, I loved seeing how the team came together and got the job done. There are a few new faces in the mix, Dozer has definitely peaked my interest, but I have to admit that having a Fournier in the mix got me all kinds of excited and I’m kind of hoping there will a family reunion of sorts in Malik’s book, but I’ll be patient and wait for his turn to come for that to happen. Until then bring on Saint’s book!
