As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I’m no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the President comes seeking a favor to protect his niece, I find myself on the fast … fast track back to the Oval Office.
Simply put… she’s beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn’t believe she’s in any real danger, the President isn’t willing to take chances with her life.
As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, I decide taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation, and attraction ensure we grow closer than I’d ever thought possible. When I realize I want to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with my job and everything to do with the woman I’ve fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell I’ll rain down on those that threaten her.

Code Name: Sentinel is the second book in the Jameson Force Security series. In this book we meet Cruce Britton. He is new to The Jameson Group, recently retiring from the Secret Service. Cruce is hired by the current president to protect the presidents niece, Barrett Alexander. Barrett is a really brilliant scientist that is on the brink of making a breakthrough of something to do with fusion energy. Someone doesn’t want her sharing what she knows and they’re after her.
Cruce and Barrett’s relationship starts fairly slowly. Just one man protecting another. But while protecting her on a private island they spend a lot of time together and quickly fall in into bed and in love. I really liked both characters immensely. I enjoyed watching their relationship blossom. And I really like the suspense and action factors of their story. I definitely recommend this book to everyone who enjoys some action and suspense with their romance.
CODE NAME: SENTINEL, a romantic suspense standalone, is available now from Sawyer Bennett!
She’s an energy scientist on the verge of a breakthrough (and the president’s niece)
He’s new to the team at Jameson Force Security following a career in the Secret Service (and just happened to save the life of the then vice president)
Now he’s been hired to protect her against a suspected kidnapping plot
What could possibly go wrong? (Hint: EVERYTHING)
Code Name: Sentinel is available now in digital, print, and audio (narrated by Jason Clarke and Lucy Rivers)!
When the President of the US asks for your help you cannot say no. Leaving the Secret Service behind and joining Jameson Force Security, Cruce cannot help but drop everything and become the bodyguard for the President’s niece Barrett when her life is in danger. The genius who works 16 hour days is not happy about having a watch dog, but when an attempted kidnapping is halted and Cruce whisks her away she has no choice. Can time alone together bring out more than just the hero complex? Can Cruce open his heart and Barrett’s mind to something real? I fell in love with these characters from the opening pages. The quick turning plot and the instant connection were a joy to read. I cannot wait for more in this series.
Another great addition to the series.
CODE NAME SENTINEL is the second book in this thrilling series.
If you love the bodyguard kind of trope then your in for a treat.
Cruce Britton is one of the task force at Jameson Force security, he’s already saved the presidents life once when he was a member of the secret service and now he works for Kynen along with other members of the newly established team. Kynen’s own romance and story is in the first book of the series CODE NAME GENESIS not too dissimilar to this one but with more of a second chance romance trope.
Bennett Alexander is one of the world’s leading energy scientist and she’s getting close to changing the world with clean energy, she is also the Presidents niece so when her life comes into jeopardy the President calls in a favor once again and Cruce is the one detailed to protect her.
There is instant chemistry between Cruce and Bennett and although they are totally different characters it worked.
Bennett is the type of woman who spends all her time dedicating herself to her theories and work, hiding herself away in a lab or in her office, she isn’t very worldly and hardly ever does anything outside of work.
Cruce is all action, a real action man, and he gradually persuades Bennett to take time out and have more experiences in life, of course, she has no choice when she is taken away to an island for her protection but just getting away despite the threats she is under gets her out of her work bubble.
Bennett’s eyes begin to open a little more as she begins to spend more time with Cruce, she also begins to fall hard for her protector.
There’s danger, action and adventure and a heartwarming romance that develops between Cruce and Bennett. There are great secondary characters too with other members of the Jameson Security team and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Another exciting addition to this addictive series. Can be read as a standalone and told in first person pov.
Read: 9/10/19
Code Name: Sentinel was the second book in Sawyer Bennett’s Jameson Force Security series.
Cruce Britton was a former Secret Service Agent. He became a national hero when a heroic effort saved the VP’s life. When the VP was elected President, Cruce moved on and began working for Jameson Security.
Barrett Alexander was a genius scientist working on a new exploration that would change the world. She was also the niece to the President and when her life was threatened, Jameson Security was hired to keep her safe. Not only was she intelligent, she was beautiful, independent, and singularly focused on her job.
Although Code Name: Sentinel demonstrated the relationship development between Cruce and Barrett, it also had a suspenseful plot as the focal point. It was a fast paced, entertaining, (mostly) lighthearted and quick read.
True to form, Bennett’s supporting cast was strong. We had quick glimpses into Cruce’s teammates, setting the stage for future books in the series. Next up is Cruce’s best friend at Jameson, Saint, in Code Name: Heist.
Book 2 in the Jameson Force Security Series and this is Cruce and Barrett’s story and boy oh boy do they have a story to tell !!
Barrett may be the niece of the US President but she lives her life on her terms working as scientist with no real political interest so why is her life suddenly threatened. The President knows only one man capable of keeping his niece safe so he reaches out to Jameson Force Security and the man who once saved his life Barrett Alexander. Will Barrett be able to keep Cruce safe ……..
Guess you are going to have to read the book to find that out.
This author knows how to write romance but she also knows how to write a suspense thriller woven with love and passion and you get it all with this brilliant read. It’s a interesting story with just the right mix of mystery, intrigue and love and once you add in the chemistry her characters share you get a book with all the feels. Looking forward to the next instalment in this exciting series.
He stands as her Sentinel
Cruce is former Secret Service and saved the now President when he was assigned to him. He’s received an email from him asking him to come to D.C. to meet with him. Not sure what to expect, Cruce tells Kynan the President is expecting them the following day. It turns out the President has a very important job for Cruce…..protection for his niece Barrett.
Barrie has no idea why her Uncle has requested to see her, but when he arrives with two men in tow, she’s not happy when their purpose is revealed Now she’s on the run with Cruce and working to finish up her theory, to ensure they are no longer in danger, whilst losing her heart to a man who could very well be her future
Loved this storyThe ending was amazing and I’m super excited to see what Heist brings with Saint
After serving as a former Secret Service bodyguard to the Vice President now President, Cruce Britton has decided to try something new. He accepts a job with Jameson Security and moves to Pittsburgh. But when he’s urgently summoned by the President of the United States, he can’t say no.
Barrett Alexander, niece to the President, is a brilliant scientist working to perfect the formula to provide free energy worldwide. After losing her parents as a teen, her aunt and uncle took her in and treated her as their own daughter. Barrett has spent her entire life focused on work. She doesn’t have time for a relationship. Although Barrett hopes to revolutionize the energy industry, some people don’t want her to succeed. When chatter comes through the President’s office that Barrett may be a target for terrorists, he places a call to Cruce.
Amazing, amazing, amazing. Nothing else to say that would adequately describe this novel. Fast-paced, on the edge of your seat romance! Barrett is a strong, highly educated woman who, with Cruce’s help, learns that work isn’t “everything” in life. I love how supportive, yet firm Cruce is with Barrett. Combustible passion. The ending was twisted and surprising! I loved that I couldn’t figure out the ending, like so many other novels. Sawyer Bennett’s stories are gritty, but romantic. Quite possibly the best novel yet! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
With high octane action and steamy passion, Sawyer Bennett has given us another outstanding story in her Jameson Force Security series. Cruce Britton may have left his post with the secret service but when the President calls asking for a favor all you can say is yes sir. Babysitting scientist Barrett Alexander should have been easy but Cruce soon discovers that protecting her is just as difficult as resisting her.
You don’t want to miss this fast paced page turner, it should be on everyone’s must read list.
Sawyer Bennett does it again with Code Name Sentinel book 2 in the Jameson series.
We first met Cruce in Kynan’s book and I fell in love with him. An ex member of the Secret Service who just happened to safe the life of the current president. The President’s niece Barrett is developing a solution to energy and her life has been threatened and The President hires the Jameson group and more specifically Cruce. The attraction between Barrett and Cruce is off the charts but Cruce cant act on it- until Barrett makes her intentions very clear. Now he finds himself falling for the sexy scientist in the most beautiful setting in the Caribbean and then one night everything changes.
I love Jameson Force Security series and Ms Bennett spins another fantastic story. Told in dual Povs we get to see both sides of this great story with classic Sawyer Bennett dialog and set up. We also get to see other members of the Jameson group which is great fun.
All in all, Sentinel is a great addition to the series and I cant wait for Saint’s book.
I am really enjoying romantic suspense! And this second book in Sawyer Bennett’s new series is really hitting the spot.
I am hooked on Cruce! This guy is 100% male – rugged, tough, protective, and alpha. He’s a take-charge individual, which is good for his line of work, but underneath that protective instinct is a man who loves just as hard as he protects. He’s so sweet and giving, loyal, and unbelievably sexy. It’s impossible not to fall head over heels for him.
I really liked Barrett. Despite being work-obsessed, she’s actually a fun person when she wants to be. She may seem reclusive and standoff-ish when we first meet her, but it’s nice to watch her loosen up a bit as the story goes on. She’s smart, determined, and way tougher than she gives herself credit for.
I love this story. It definitely packs plenty of heat (which I’ve come to expect from SB), and I love the suspense that comes with unraveling the mystery surrounding Barrett and Cruce. In addition to all that, there are plenty of tender moments that pull at your heartstrings too. This is a well-rounded story that I think you’re going to have a hard time putting down until you’ve read the very last page.
5 BRILLIANT STARS
Code Name: Sentinel is the second book in the Jameson Force Security series. If you read, and enjoyed Genesis, you’ll devour this one even faster. Cruce Britton is thoughtful, strong, and has many skills, and he’ll be using all of them to keep the president’s nice safe.
The story is well written, clever, interesting, intriguing, intense and captivating, all wrapped around a great plot, and a passionate romance.
I love Cruce & Barrett’s witty banter, but their chemistry, and connection is just plain perfection, and more fun when you’re listening to the audiobook so brilliantly narrated by Jason Clarke & Lucy Rivers!
I highly recommend this fascinated series!!
I just love Sawyer Bennett and all things she writes!
The Jameson Force Security team is a security team that you’ll enjoy getting to know. In this book, we learn about Cruce. He used to work on the Secret Service detail and once even foiled a plot to shoot POTUS. After that, he felt he needed a change and moved to Pittsburgh to work for Jameson Force security but quickly gets a phone call from POTUS needing his help. How can you say no to POTUS?
It turns out that POTUS is worried about his niece who he’s raised. Barrett is a young brilliant scientist who often gets lost in her work forgetting about everything around her. She’s working on a way to provide free energy which doesn’t make those who stand to make millions on charging others very happy. But she doesn’t think there’s anything to worry about and is mad when Cruce arrives to tail her.
Sparks are flying as these too are stuck in close quarters. Once she realizes that the threat is real, she’s more accepting of having Cruce around. Cruce forces her to explore more of life and take breaks so that she’s not all work and no play. Barrett is so close to finding the answer and is willing to take chances contacting her team without Cruce’s knowledge.
When the bad guys catch up to her, will Cruce be able to protect her or will he let down POTUS this time? What happens to him and Jameson Force?
Another great read by Sawyer Bennett!
5 Stars
Code Name: Sentinel by Sawyer Bennett is the second book in the Jameson Force Security series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I do recommend reading the first one as well. I LOVED the first book but honestly, this one was out of this world amazing too. Code Name: Sentinel is so addicting, fast paced, and kept me on my toes the entire time.
After being a hero in the secret service, Cruce is now part of the Jameson Force Security. He’s smart, focused, and dependable. So when the president calls in a favor, he can’t say no. He was not expecting his entire life to change…
I absolutely ADORED Barrett! She is a successful scientist and has been working on a really important formula that can change the world. Problem is, someone doesn’t want it to happen. When she meets Cruce, sparks fly. But he’s only there to protect her…
I loved this story so much! The chemistry between Barrett and Cruce was HOT as hell!! The plot was fantastic and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
3.5 Dramatically Different Stars
When you read a Sawyer Bennett book you expect certain things; interesting characters, steamy scenes and well written stories.
Code Name: Sentinel has all of those with the added bonus of pulse pounding suspense that keeps you turning the page.
**ARC provided for an honest review.**
It was great! Full of action and excitement. Even romantic in the way Barrett and Cruce get to bond and the way he cares for her. That, is a completely dedicated man. Brave and committed, not only to her safety but to show her there is more to life than work. Barrett’s character is impressive in how strong and smart she is. She has a pure heart. That, and bits of her innocence mix with her willingness to experiment and enjoy life is what attracts Cruce. It’s what makes him think she is the sexiest woman alive. No other has gotten his attention to that extent. But she accomplishes it without even trying. She becomes precious to him. And in every page of this book you will have proof of how far he is willing to go and how much he is willing to do to protect her.
This is the second book in this series and while you don’t need to read the first book, I would highly recommend it.
Barrett and Cruce are two peas in a pod. They are both extremely dedicated to their careers and both excel at them. Cruce used to be Secret Service and is famous for saving the Vice President’s life. He decided to leave the Secret Service and join the new Pittsburgh branch of Jameson Security. That position and his bravery while in the Secret Service lead him and Jameson to an assignment that comes straight from the President himself.
Barrett is on the brink of a discovery that will change the entire world forever. She has been working no stop her whole life towards. Her work has put her in danger though, danger that will come closer than she ever expected. This danger also puts her in the care of Cruce.
These two together complement each other so well. Both are workaholics but Cruce has a few things to teach Barrett about balancing work and life. Barrett has let life pass her by for her work but when you life is in danger; your perspective tends to change.
I loved these characters, their banter, the way the affected each other. I cannot wait for Saint’s book.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Cruce Britton has a connection to the man in charge. If you’re not sure who that is you may want to start at the beginning. Lucky for you it’s only one book titled Code Name: Genesis. You may find yourself busy for a while if you want to investigate the author’s tie-ins. Whether you’re a newbie or a revisiting reader you’ll have an enjoyable time finding out about some of her other characters/books.
Barrett Alexander shows us what’s most important in her life. She’s all about business above everything else. She seems to have a hard time letting people in. Cruce has a way of worming his way past her defenses. But the author has created a mystery/suspense that makes it hard to see if anything more personal is going to develop. And that’s what had me wishing that I didn’t have to put the book down.
When you hold down a full time job, she makes it very difficult to close the book. I didn’t want to miss anything. But she also makes it very easy to pick it up again because I want to make sure that I didn’t miss a thing. Having romance between characters is nice but when you add in some suspense and mystery than that becomes my page-turner moment.
Ms. Bennett makes everything seem so realistic. It’s like the reader is standing in the background as this group have their conversations. You almost want to say, “What would you like me to do?” The way she crafts some of the scenes had me wondering, “What are you up to?” Getting to know Barrett, the ending was perfect for her – oh, and for Cruce too. It also has me glad that this series is just getting started.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Yes! Another 5 star read from Sawyer Bennett. Not sure how she does it but she sure knows how to deliver a steamy story. This was the 2nd book in the Jameson Force Security series. It has everything you have come to love from a Sawyer Bennett book. A great storyline and sexy characters with off the chart chemistry. 5 stars!
4.5 stars
Cruce has a reputation for being attentive to his duty and acting quickly to save the life of the Vice President. Now that he is working in the private sector with Jameson Force Security, the White House is calling on his service to help protect the now-President’s niece from a very specific threat.
Barrett Anderson is a brilliant engineer working to create a cleaner form of energy. She is close to the breakthrough she needs, but has received threats from a terrorist group because of her nearly completed research. The threat is taken seriously enough that she has to go into protective service and hiding in order to complete the work and share it safely.
This is a great example of a bodyguard/protectee trope. Cruce is clearly dedicated to her protection but finds himself protecting her less because it’s a job and more because it’s her. As they spend more time together, the chemistry between them skyrockets and it becomes harder to each to stay focused on the target alone.
I enjoyed the return to the Jamison Force Security world. For much of the story, Cruce and Barrett are in isolation as the rest of the team works to find the specific threat against Barrett. Their isolation becomes the perfect setting for each of them to set aside their typical schedules and priorities in order to explore the chemistry developing between them. The situation is intense, and that intensity bleeds into everything they do. But there is also enough from the team to keep the story connected to the rest of the group, keeping me invested in continuing the series.
I received this book from the author for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
