As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I’m no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the President comes seeking a favor to protect his niece, I find myself on the fast … fast track back to the Oval Office.
Simply put… she’s beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn’t believe she’s in any real danger, the President isn’t willing to take chances with her life.
As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, I decide taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation, and attraction ensure we grow closer than I’d ever thought possible. When I realize I want to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with my job and everything to do with the woman I’ve fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell I’ll rain down on those that threaten her.

This is the second book of this series and I have to tell you that they keep being better and better…
The action and romance here is well leveled and balanced, characters are great with many layers and so human (despite being bad asses!) and the story is engaging and thrilling.
Cruise is a former workaholic secret agent who have in a matter of seconds saved the vice president of United States (now president!) of an upfront attack. President now needs his help to protect his niece Barret who is a super intelligent researcher in the field of energy and is near to a breakthrough that will help the world. Jameson Force is hired and Cruise is the one in charge of her protection.
From the beginning he is the one who protects Barret from work too much, from living her life and the love that begins with these people is undeniable. But, the action is so good! We can read the characters of the first book and know a little about them and in fact this is a book that you have so much going on that it is impossible to put it away and not read the next page or chapter.
I loved this book !
Twists and turns and intrigue takes us from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. to an island in the Caribbean. This series is quickly turning into one of my favorites of this author! Cruce was brought into Jameson Force Security after leaving the Secret Service, after all once you save the Vice President’s life while on the campaign trail and you decide to leave the SS what are you going to do next, but when the President calls and requests your help, you show up. His niece Barrett, a super intelligent chemist, is working on a formula which will allow for free energy and there has been chatter she is being targeted. Cruce and JFS have been called in to protect her. After a kidnapping attempt outside her home in Washington, they are sent to an isolated island. These two have a special chemistry and when they are forced to be alone it is hard to deny. So much fun watching these two learn to co-exist and watching Barrett learn to relax. I cannot wait to see who is up next. It is going to be so much fun to watch Saint fall…
Cruce is former secret service and a member of Jameson Force Security. His next job is a favor from the President, from the man whose life he saved. This time his job involves protecting the Presidents niece, Barrett.
This book was packing the heat in more ways than one. Cruce and Barrett are complete opposites but they were not lacking when it came to chemistry. Barrett is stubborn and doesn’t think she needs all the protection her uncle has provided, however, when it comes to Cruce I don’t believe she minds too much.
Code Name: Sentinel is full of the steaminess that I’ve come to love about Sawyer Bennett’s books, but this is full of suspense and throw in a super exotic location and it’s the key to one super steamy romantic suspense story.
I can’t get enough of the Jameson Force Security crew and I can’t wait for more crazy, steamy, suspenseful stories in the future!
I couldn’t put this 2nd installment of the Jameson Force Security series down! (Its a small miracle anything got done today….)
Cruce is a character we have met before and it was fun to get to know more about this former Secret Service agent while he protects the president’s genius scientist niece. Barrett is an equally likeable character. She’s smart, sassy, and doesn’t seem to have a clue about the impact she has on Cruce when they are near each other.
This well written, fast paced read takes of us from Pittsburgh and meeting the more fully formed Jameson team, to Washington D C and the Caribbean. I enjoyed seeing Cruce and Barrett thrust together and the struggle/slow burn that is the beginning of their working relationship. The evolutions that occur leave the reader feeling that even though the calendar days they know each may be few, the emotions and experiences are very real.
Ms Bennett does an amazing job of maintaining and continuing to build the world around Jameson Force, but also maintaining the integrity of Cruce and Barrett’s romance. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
Code name: Sentinel (Jameson Security Force #2), by Sawyer Bennett tells the story of Cruce who we met in the first book, although this book can be read as a stand-alone.
Cruce has joined Kynan’s security team and receives an email from the President, whom he protected when he worked for the secret service. The President is asking for assistance in the protection of his niece, Barrett, a brilliant scientist who has been working on a top-secret formula. Protecting Barrett becomes difficult for Cruce, as he is also very attracted to her and is concerned this will impede on his performance.
Barrett is intelligent, beautiful and hard-working. She also is no-nonsense and tells it like it is. The chemistry between the two is palpable and mystery and suspense are included keep the story flowing.
There is no cliffhanger and the story is complete with a HEA.
There are hints at the end for book 3 and I look forward to the next story in the series.
Good 4 stars read with suspense and heat. It lacked the heat and passion I’ve found in this author’s earlier books. By no means is it bad, it’s easy to read and entertaining.
This is the second book in this series and it can be read as a standalone.
Barrett is a scientist with a brilliant mind on the verge of discovering something groundbreaking but her life’s in danger. Cruce is hired to protect her and he gets to be more than a hired help….
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Well described characters
Hot love scenes
Happy ending

4.5 stars–CODE NAME: SENTINEL is the second instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult JAMESON FORCE SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Jameson Force Security. This is former US Secret Service agent Cruce Britton, and scientist Barrett Alexander’s storyline. CODE NAME: SENTINEL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. The Jameson Force security series is a spin-off from the author’s WICKED HORSE VEGAS series, which in turn is a spin-off from her Wicked Horse Series. There is also a slight cross-over with the mention of the author’s Carolina Cold Fury Hockey Series, and a new agent for Jameson Force Security -Malik Fournier. You do not have to have read any of the previous series to follow or understand the current series.
WARNING: There are some scenes of violence and torture that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Barrett and Cruce) CODE NAME: SENTINEL follows the protection of scientist Barrett Alexander, the American President’s niece, and a renowned scientist whose discovery and formula for the world’s most efficient and cleanest energy, has caught the eye of international and home-grown terrorists. A call from the President finds former Secret Service agent Cruce Britton, once again, going above and beyond for the American people. With Barrett’s discovery US intelligence has intercepted ‘chatter’ and communication regarding threats to our story line heroine. What ensues is the protection and safeguard of Barrett Alexander, and the potential fall-out when Barrett finds herself at the mercy of terrorists; Cruce and Barrett’s tome together comes to a close; and the Jameson Security Force uncover the people behind the threat to our story line heroine.
Barrett Alexander is a bit of a nerd whose sole purpose is to discover the formula for clean and efficient energy. On the run with Cruce Britton, Barrett will discover there is more to life than science and work. Cruce Britton knows to get involved with a client could mean the end of his career but the heart wants something more with Barrett Alexander.
The relationship between Cruce and Barrett is one of immediate attraction but Barrett wants nothing to do with protection or security until the threats to her life and Cruce’s become all too real. Cruce has already save the life of the American President but saving the life of Barrett Alexander means so much more. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and energetic characters: the head of Jameson Force Security, security specialist and former British Special Forces Kynan McGrath and Joslyn Meyers (Code Name Genesis #1), former inmate and IT specialist Bebe Grimshaw; Cage Murdock: US Marine Malik Fournier; US Marine Saint Bellinger; psychiatrist Dr. Corinne Ellery, President Jonathan Alexander, and head of strategy Dozer. The requisite evil has many faces.
CODE NAME: SENTINEL is a character driven story of betrayal and vengeance; power and control; love, romance and happily ever after. The premise is intriguing and suspense filled; the romance is spicy and hot; the characters are dynamic and charismatic. CODE NAME: SENTINEL is an imaginative, clever
I love a good romantic suspense. Cruce is sent to protect Barrett, who came up with a formula for free energy and is now a target. And you know, of course they are on the run, in a super romantic location. With no one else around and nothing to do but get to know each other. Love is in the air! But so is a sense of danger. The action really steps up in the second half, with hearts and lives on the line.
I was surprised and impressed by the choices these two make to work it all out. This is a great series so far, but I also feel like you could read this on it’s own without reading book one.
I loved Cruce and Barrett. I loved how independent she was but still could take “orders” when need be for her own safety. I loved her strength both mentally and physically. Cruce’s protective instinct was (to me) his best quality and let’s not forget the work ethic they both possessed. I loved that he didn’t give into temptation right away. It made their relationship so much stronger at the end I think.
This series just got better! Bring on the next one – I’m more than ready to tackle the next obstical to finding HEAs for this group of friends!!!

This series has definitely become a favorite and one I look forward to everytime a new book in the series is released. I love when I pickup a book that has me so immersed in the story that I refuse to put it down because I’m on the edge of my seat with anticipation of what’s to come…… that was this book! Code Name: Sentinel was filled with twists and turns that had me gasping, suspense that had me holding my breath and chemistry that had me fanning myself on more than one occasion. Sawyer has without a doubt given us another 5-Star MUST read series!
