Being a highly skilled operative for a company like Jameson Force Security is exhilarating and important work…until it comes time to date. I like to keep my profession under wraps for a number of reasons. Some of what we do is top secret, most of what we do is dangerous, and more than one woman has tried to latch onto me because she was more enamored with what I do than who Cage Murdock really … is. And since I’m more of a ‘here for the night’ than a ‘here for forever’ kind of guy, what’s the harm in a little white lie about my job?My harmless deceit has never failed me. Until now. Because I met the most amazing woman and did the unthinkable. I married her. And now my beautiful, unsuspecting, probably-going-to-leave-my-sorry-behind-when-she-finds-out-the-truth wife doesn’t know that I’m not a used car salesman like I told her when we met.As it typically does with lies, the truth is about to come out in a big way when Jaime unwittingly gets herself mixed up with some unsavory characters and I, along with the team at Jameson, have to intervene. Now I need to save my girl and hope I can save my marriage too. Let’s just say I have some serious explaining to do.

Listened to this story on Audible. There’s a male and female narrator, and both did a great job! Loved the gruffness to the male narrator’s voice, and the female narrator’s tone of voice was really nice and fits the characters well.
Super sweet with a bit of steam, and a pinch of action! Liked both Cage and Jaime; both are good people with good hearts, I do wish they were a bit more mature at times, but both are easily likable. If you have read Anna and Malik’s book, you may already know the scenario with Cage and Jaime. This book starts at the beginning of Cage and Jaime’s relationship; they meet, he lies about his job as a private security expert, they get together casually, but quickly decide there’s something more to their connection. There are some repeating scenes, but from different POV’s; I think it would be a bit better to do a bit of a fast forward on some of Cage and Jaime’s relationship because it was a bit boring to know what was going to be the problem in this book. The time could’ve been spent better on some more action surrounding the other issue in the book; the story went pretty much exactly how I thought it would. I still really enjoyed reading about Cage and Jaime’s love; I just think more danger and suspense would’ve been good. Loved getting to see some of the other security members, and meeting some new guys; looking forward to them finding love! So yeah, enjoyable, super sweet story that focuses mainly on the romance aspect.
” Oh what a tangled web we weave. When first we practice to deceive.” certainly describes Cage Murdock’s dilemma perfectly. He lies to Jaime Dolan almost from the first moment he met her. What he didn’t count on was falling for this red haired, blue eyed beauty who is caring, caring and sexy as all get out. Jaime quickly comes to care deeply for this tall, gorgeous hunk who takes her to heights she’s never experienced. It’s only when her life may be in jeopardy she discovers that she’s been “rooked” by Cage. How can she stay with him if she can’t trust him? Cage knows he has a lot to atone for and is determined to do whatever it takes to win Jaime’s trust and keep her with him forever.
Cage Murdock is a player — until he meets Jaime one night in a bar and she takes him home. For a quick getaway, he tells her he’s a used car salesman. But as continue to see each other, Cage gets more wrapped up in telling her the truth at the right time, and ends up causing a whole lotta trouble for himself. There’s no right time to tell your new wife you’ve been lying to her.
These two are very cute together, and Cage falls hard for Jaime. It’s all very out of character for him, so of course he’s going to make mistakes. Good think he has Jameson Security to help him out. Kynan gives him good advice and ends up stepping in at a critical moment.
I really liked this. There was a few ways this story could go, and I hadn’t anticipated what happened in that final third of the book. The development of their relationship was fun, with Cage a bit out of his element and a bit unsettled by his feelings after being single for so long. These two are great together, there’s plenty of heat and it was easy to want them to resolve their trust issues and find their HEA.
There’s a nice dose of action in this as well, and I really liked that part of the story. Although I had an inkling something was going to happen, it was a big surprise when it did, and I loved that about this story. And I did like that Jaime took her time decided what she wanted once the dust cleared.
Overall, another entertaining installment in the Jameson Force Security series. It was a quick read with plenty of heat and a nice bit of action. I devoured this in a day.
An ARC was provided. This is my honest review.
Finally getting Cage’s story after the explosive reveal in the previous book! After rescuing his teammate and looking to unwind once he was home, he heads to a local bar where he sees Jamie, and his world changes. Out with her girlfriends, Jamie isn’t looking for a relationship or even a date, until she sets her eyes on Cage. They both break their typical rules and go home together, and their relationship sparks from there. Spending as much time as they can together they quickly become obsessed with each other and learning everything they can. Cage’s real job is still a secret between them and while it kills Cage, he can never find the right time to tell her, until it’s too late. When she travels with him for work, they end up taking a chance and taking their relationship to the next level – getting married! Once they return home, they go about trying to find the best time to tell her family as well as his, but a mission halts all that until he can get home. Unfortunately that’s too late. Thanks to Jamie’s brother, her life is put in danger after Cage gets back from a difficult mission and before he can tell her the truth. Thankfully Cage is able to rescue his new wife, but it comes with a lot of questions that risk their marriage. Rooting for a HEA for Jamie after everything she’s been through, as well as Cage, I was so happy with the ending. I was so obsessed with this storyline after how it was introduced to us at the end of the previous book, and it totally did not disappoint. Also being from Pittsburgh, I love that this book is pretty accurate with the different spots and neighborhoods, which is an added touch for me. I cannot wait for the next installment – I continue to be obsessed with Sawyer’s books and this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Cage, aka Rook, is a member of Jameson Security. Upon returning from a successful mission, he wants to decompress by having a drink in a local bar, alone. Cage has never had any problems in attracting women and tonight is like all the others. There’s just one woman who catches his eye though, the redhead across the bar. Not wanting to interrupt her night with her friends, he decides to head on home…until he’s approached by the redhead.
Jaime works very hard and is extremely passionate about assisting abused women and children escape their abuser. After experiencing a bad breakup and having ongoing issues with her brother, Jamie decides to take her friends up on their offer for a girl’s night out. While out at the bar, Jamie takes a chance and steps outside her comfort zone to proposition a stranger, aka Cage. What starts off as a one-night stand, quickly turns into friendship, then more.
Oh man….where do I start? Jaime is a hero! She’s an amazing woman with a caring heart. When she loves, she loves fully. She’s truthful, funny, and extremely close to her family. She’s also a little scared because she can’t believe that she’s met such an amazing man-even if he’s a car salesman. Cage is your typical Alpha man. He’s the perfect match for Jamie, but their relationship started on a lie. Now it’s up to Cage to make things right. I loved that the ending wasn’t an “easy fix”. I loved that Cage had to grovel and work hard to gain her trust. The “file” had me in tears! BEST ENDING EVER! Highly recommended! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
When Jameson operative Cage Murdock spends the night with a “lucky ” woman, he tells her he is a car saleman so she won’t get all starry eyed over his real profession. You know, a tall, good looking dangerous guy is irresistible, right? So, when he spends the night with Jaime Dolan, he feeds her the same lie. However, this time he actually wants to see her again and now he’s hiding the truth.
Jaime is getting over a bad break up and also dealing with her slacker brother consistently trying to borrow money so her tolerance for foolishness is very low. Cage thinks he needs to keep lying even as the relationship deepens. Eventually, they go to Vegas, get lit and then married. Now he’s really in a pickle!
I generally hate the “I’ve got a secret” trope in a romance, but this one is well done. Just when Cage is ready to confess, a huge plot twist occurs and all heck breaks loose. Fortunately Cage is generally a likeable hero and Jaime isn’t a pushover so while the outcome seemed tenuous for a while, we are rooting for them to be together.
This entire series has been great to read. All these macho heroes being brought down by love and one tough lady also having the same fate! Each book teases the next and keeps me highly anticipating the upcoming release.
Cage works for Jameson Security. Fresh off a successful mission, he decides to stop and have a drink and catches the eye of a woman who is out with friends. As Cage and Jaime get to know one another, she tells him about her career as a social worker but he keeps his real profession a secret and tells her he’s a car salesman. Cage is to attend a conference in Vegas and invites Jaime to come along. While in Vegas and after quite a few drinks, they get married. When Jaime’s brother puts her in the middle of his shady business dealings, Cage’s true profession becomes front and center. Will Jaime be able to forgive Cage for lying to her so that they can have their HEA or will his profession be too much for her.
Another great Jameson Security story!
We’ve seen Cage in other Jameson Force Security books, but this story is all his. After returning back from a mission, Cage decides to go out and reflect on his actions, alone, rather than celebrate with his teammates. As he first walks into the bar, he scans and instantly sees Jaime, and knows she is the one he wants to “get to know” for the evening. Cage isn’t a relationship guy, but he’s also not celibate either. But tonight, he decides to forego the hunt and go home, till Jaime makes the move. They instantly hit it off, attraction and chemistry (check and check) and take the party back to her place. While both think this will be just a one-night stand, they are both surprised by each other’s actions. They can both feel a connection and Cage calls her immediately, to go out on a real date. That attraction is still there and are really clicking, they really have something – they continue to see each other, and a relationship continues to grow… They are sharing information, getting to know one another, with the exception of Cage not being all together truthful on his career path. Jaime is strong and forthright… and now that Cage is in deep, he’s afraid the truth will kill what they have. Will she be able to understand and want to continue with Cage? No spoilers here! A really great book. The characters were beautifully written, and the story kept me reading fast and wanting more! Another great story, always so well written by Sawyer Bennett!!!
Code Name: Rook is the sixth book in the Jameson Force Security series and it takes place at the same time as the prior book, Code Name: Ghost and although it could be read as a standalone if you are new to the series, I would recommend reading in order. You may remember that Cage has met a woman although he doesn’t do relationships. Jamie turns out to be perfect for him. I truly was captivated by their story and can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

Sawyer Bennett has done it again! I absolutely love, love, LOVED this book. Who am I kidding, I love the whole blasted series! Sooo, when Code Name: Rook hit my tablet, I could not wait to read it.
Cage Murdock is a freaking idiot “player” with a huge ego! And let us continue that rant with liar as well. Buuuuut, he is a very loveable, caring, playing, idiot! By the way, he also had a caring heart.
We were first really introduced to Cage and Jaime as a couple in the previous book, Code Name: Ghost, and a lot of the story runs along the same time frame. OMG!!! You REALLY need to read THIS book to get the whole story!!! Cage Murdock really does redeem himself and become the perfect hero for Jaime. Sorry ladies, I refuse to give anything away. I will say this, there is some not so good things in Jaime’s past that Cage, and the Jameson team may have to get involved in.
Thank you, Sawyer Bennett for sharing your incredible writing and story telling talents with your readers. I have learned over the years that any time I pick up one or your phenomenal books, that I will be taken away from my sometimes-hectic life into the incredible world of someone else. Authors like yourself, are the reason I love to read romance books so much.
I was gifted with Code Name: Rook for my reading pleasure, and my honest opinion.
Thank you for reading my review. I really believe you will love this book/series as much as I have. So, what are you waiting for? Hit that purchase button on your favorite retailer and start your reading enjoyment.
BTW, the audio version released today, and I cannot wait to listen to this great story! To be continued….
Being a security operative for Jameson Force Security, Cage has never had the interest or time in anything more than a one-night stand. That is until he meets Jamie, lies to her about his profession and then marries her while on a business trip out to Las Vegas. When Jamie unwillingly gets kidnapped and Cage is forced to rescue her, he will have a lot of explaining to do.
We finally get to see more into Cage Murdock. This book was lighter in suspense than the other Jameson Force Security books and has a decent amount of overlap with Code Name: Ghost. Cage and Jamie are extremely likeable, have good chemistry and a very comfortable relationship. It was great to catch up with the rest of the team at Jameson. Code Name: Rook is an instant love romantic suspense and a great addition to the Jameson Force Security series and even though it can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the entire series to get to know the other members of the team.
4.5 Fun & Exciting Stars!
This was a fun and exciting addition to the Jameson Force Security series. We read about the hole that Cage was digging himself into in the previous book, Code Name: Ghost, and I couldn’t wait to see how he got out of it! Cage is a former navy SEAL who works for Jameson and is very good at what he does. He knows some women romanticize his profession and doesn’t want them hanging on when he isn’t a relationship guy. So when he first hooks up with Jaime, he tells her that he is a car salesman. The more time they spend together, the more he falls for her. He is afraid she will walk away when she learns his secret. Jaime has been lied to before in past relationships, and that is her hard limit. She is falling fast and hard for Cage and trusts him even when his stories don’t match her idea of his profession. But someone they should be able to trust, puts both their lives in danger, and it just might be too late for the truth. Jaime is so spunky, strong, and brave, I really loved her! She and Cage were so perfect for each other, because they are both so easy going, laugh easily, and don’t take any bull from anyone, not to mention their chemistry was explosive. I loved how their story ran simultaneously with Anna and Malik’s story from the previous book. We get to see some of the same events, but from different perspectives. We also get to know more about Cages coworkers, they are such a great mix of talent, and all very intriguing. I can’t wait for more about them.
The narration by John Lane, and Emma Wilder is very good. Their delivery feels natural, including their different gender voices, and accents. Lane’s deep, gravely voice is perfect for the fierce, alpha ex-SEAL with a soft heart, easily moving between suspense, passion and laughter. I loved Wilder’s passionate performance and she nails Jaime’s funny, loving, and fiery personality so perfectly. I really enjoyed their performances as they easily brought this fun, thrilling and sexy adventure to life!
What happens when you tell a little white lie when meeting a woman for a one night stand? A lot, especially if you want more. But how do you confess this lie without getting her getting pissed that you lied?
The chemistry between Cage and Jaime is off the charts and Cage definitely doesn’t want to lose this. But how do you tell a woman who can’t get passed her ex lying to her that he too has lied to her. Every time he wants to tell her the truth something happens and he puts it off.
Will she ever be able to forgive him when she finds out the truth? I love this author and the Jameson Force group. Another great read!
If your already fans already of this great series you know we’ve already had a tiny glimpse of Cage and Jamie’s start in the last book: Code Name: Ghost.
Well it’s time for the whole story! And it’s a doozy
Cage meets Jamie and they are like any new couple getting to know each other…kind of. Big difference is Jamie is fairly up front about everything. Her job her family, and their issues. Then there’s Cage. He’s afraid to tell Jamie exactly who he is. So he fabricates a life he thinks she’d be comfortable with. There’s always time later to come clean…Right? His friends think he’s crazy for not telling the truth but what can they do?
Fast forward and things are pretty serious between Cage and Jamie and when they are in Vegas for a convention they decide to get Married! Jamie still doesn’t know who Cage really is. But his time is running out and the lie has him in deep. Will
Jamie ever forgive him? Well when some family drama gets Jamie in a dangerous predicament Cage’s time has run out. Now he in for the fight of his life, to get his wife back.
I loved the banter we teen these characters. Did I want to smack Cage because of his deception…YES! many times lol. But it kept the story moving at a good pace. I loved the way these two just fell instantly for other. The emotion, heat and action makes this a great read.
Cage & Jamie are a great addition to the Jameson family! Relationships shouldn’t be built on deceit, but Cage’s lie was so innocent at the start. I enjoyed their buildup in Malik & Anna’s book and I enjoyed reading a book devoted to Cage & Jamie. Can’t wait to continue adding to the Jameson Force Security family.
I loved Cage already, and knew the bare minimum of what was going on as this book is on the same timeline as Code Name: Ghost. But, reading all the details of him and Jaime and their love story….just magical and wonderful. She is such an awesome heroine, and he’s a sweetheart underneath his tough exterior. Such a great addition to the series.
Code Name: Rook is the sixth book in this awesome series and it has the same time line as the previous book in the series, Code Name: Ghost. Cage does not do relationships, so he didn’t think anything of the lie he told about his occupation. However, Jamie is different, he actually wants to get to know her and marries her. What happens when she finds out Cage has lied to her? Will they get past the deceit and get their happily ever after? I love cage and Jamie’s story!!
Awesome Story & Narration Engrossing & Heartfelt!
Code Name: Rook
Jameson Force Security, Book 6
By: Sawyer Bennett
Narrated by: John Lane, Emma Wilder
Sawyer Bennett pens another awesome novel in her “Jameson Force Security” series. I am loving the characters and their stories in this amazing series. This book is Cage Murdock and Jaime Dolan’s story, their story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it straight to the end. I was completely engrossed by this story, so much I listened to it non-stop, wanting or rather needing to know what happened next. I adored both lead characters, they are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Cage just finished a rescue mission with his team at JFS, he needed to unwind and knew the perfect way to do that, find someone to spend the night with. He heads out to the local bar and it does not take him long to find that someone and she winds up finding him. Jaime is out with friends when she spots Cage after a brief eye contact she approached him. The two hit is off and they have a steamy night together. Sage does not do relationships and rarely has more than a one night stand so he does not share what his real job is with Jaime, he tells her he is a car salesman. There is something about Jaime that has him wanting to see her again and he gets stuck with that lie, he knows she has trust issues and is not sure how she is going to handle that he was not exactly truthful. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, a surprising plot twist that causes thrilling and suspenseful moments in addition to heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Sawyer Bennett, thats you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride. It was great to see the Jameson crew again, Jaime’s family was awesome too, loved how tight knit and supportive they were of her.
I listened to the Audible edition, John Lane and Emma Wilder are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They do an awesome job portraying the characters, giving each their own unique voice and grasping their persona making the role their own. They sounded just as I pictured the characters to sound, John Lane was the perfect Cage and Emma Wilder the perfect. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and versatile voice artists who are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this awesome listen
Code Name: Rook was such a cute romance. Cage and Jaime meet and instantly have a connection. Everything is good with them except for Cage not being truthful about his occupation. When something happens that reveals the truth, he and Jaime must decide if his lies were small enough to forgive. I though this was a fun romantic, and towards the end, suspenseful read. I really liked both Cage and Jaime together. If you love this series and books with quickie marriages, then this is a must read.
Code Name Rook is the 6th book in the Jameson Force Security series. Sawyer Bennett just keeps getting better. The chemistry between Cage and Jaime was undeniable from their first meeting. It was a journey reading how their relationship developed. Sometimes it takes almost losing someone to realize what they mean to you. I kept yelling at Cage saying tell her already! “Do you know what rook means?” she asks. Frowning, I give it a shot. “It’s a chess piece, right?” “It can be, but rook means to defraud or deceive someone.”
I got not put this book down. I just want more of the Jameson force series.
