Being a highly skilled operative for a company like Jameson Force Security is exhilarating and important work…until it comes time to date. I like to keep my profession under wraps for a number of reasons. Some of what we do is top secret, most of what we do is dangerous, and more than one woman has tried to latch onto me because she was more enamored with what I do than who Cage Murdock really … is. And since I’m more of a ‘here for the night’ than a ‘here for forever’ kind of guy, what’s the harm in a little white lie about my job?My harmless deceit has never failed me. Until now. Because I met the most amazing woman and did the unthinkable. I married her. And now my beautiful, unsuspecting, probably-going-to-leave-my-sorry-behind-when-she-finds-out-the-truth wife doesn’t know that I’m not a used car salesman like I told her when we met.As it typically does with lies, the truth is about to come out in a big way when Jaime unwittingly gets herself mixed up with some unsavory characters and I, along with the team at Jameson, have to intervene. Now I need to save my girl and hope I can save my marriage too. Let’s just say I have some serious explaining to do.

This is the 6th book in the Jameson Force Security series but is by far my favorite in the series. Yes, it is a part of a series but the author does a wonderful job of writing that you do not have to read the other books in the series. Sure it helps you understand a little of the secondary characters if you have, but not necessary. This is the first time experiencing the narration of John Lane and Emma Wilder and I can’t wait to listen to other books narrated by them. They really brought the characters of Cage and Jaime to life. Between the writing and narration, I felt like I was experiencing things with new friends. I could really picture the scenes taking place and had conversations with Cage or Jaime about the actions they were taking place. Cage often was getting a not so nice word about not coming clean. This story had so much involved and the twists were great. It was a non-stop listen. I also enjoyed how the book ran parallel to Malik’s story and we got to experience a scene or two in a different point of view then we did in his book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series as well as other works from this author.
I love Jamie and Cages story. You can’t help but root for them. They meet in a bar and unfortunately their relationship starts as a one night stand but they both start to want more the problem is Cage started the relationship with a lie, and now has to find a way to tell Jamie and he waits a little to long. This was one of my favorites and you get to see some of the friends from other books. Sawyer Bennett does not disappoint with her wonderful character and storytelling. I can’t wait for her next book.
This series gets better and better. In my review of the last book, Code Name: Ghost, I said it was my favorite so far. While this story wasn’t as emotional as the last story, I’m still putting this one higher than that one. The pacing was on point and I didn’t want to put this book down.
Although this book can be read as a standalone, I always recommend reading the full series when it comes to any of this author’s works. In this case, Jaime and Cage’s story overlaps with Malik and Anna’s story (again, that’s Code Name: Ghost). Having already read that story and knowing some of what happens with Cage, I was chomping at the bit to find out how it all came to be and what the end result would be.
One of the things I loved about this story is how quickly Cage and Jaime latched onto each other. I know a lot of people don’t like insta-love, but that’s not even what I mean. While in my mind it was insta-love, in the characters’ minds it was not. It was a one-night stand that they didn’t want to give up. Their chemistry is off the charts and they could not keep their hands off each other. Which, in a way, is what makes them think it’s not love. They are confused about what is emotion and what is their physical magnetism, not realizing that they can have both.
Being a reader that hates storylines with a big secret, this one made sense to me. Of course, at a certain point I got annoyed with Cage for wimping out yet again on telling the truth. But I can also give him credit for the times he tried to tell the truth and got interrupted. These two are meant to be and I just knew that love would find a way.
The way Cage’s real life is revealed to Jaime is a whole lot of fun, even while it’s intense and filled with danger. The reactions of her various family members to what happened to Jaime and who Cage really is are honest and interesting and display a really great family dynamic.
As I said, this series keeps getting better and I’m very much looking forward to more.
Audio Review
This book was exactly what I would expect from Sawyer and more. She weaved a suspenseful story with a side of swoon and sexy. Cage pulls on those heartstrings making you fall more for him with each page.
I especially loved how the story overlapped a little with Ghost. Cage’s relationship with Anna was funny.
Emma Wilder and John Lane were spectacular voicing Cage and Jamie. I loved how these characters came to life and brought delight to my ears.
Oh and let’s not forget the little shock moment and hopefully a story with the quiet Corrinne.
This was a fun read that captivated me till the very end.
I love the crew at Jamison Security. The way Sawyer writes feels like getting together with a group of friends you haven’t seen for a while. I love it!
We got to meet Cage briefly during Anna and Malik’s story, Code Name Ghost; Cage is close friends with Anna, the widow of his fallen teammate at Jamison. Cage is a doll, but he’s a little bit goofy – it feels like he would have no trouble getting people to believe that he’s a slightly dippy used-car-salesman, even though he’s a high-powered security expert.
His usual plan of lying about his job backfires completely on him when he falls in love with Jaime. After being recently cheated on, and with her brother hiding some kind of secret from her that’s causing her to worry he’s in trouble, the thought that Cage is lying to her doesn’t even cross her mind. So she doesn’t regret their impulsive, spur-of-the moment wedding in Vegas. That is, until he has to leave for a mission unexpectedly, and she can’t understand why a car salesman would have to travel so much. When her brother’s actions lead to some REALLY insane events, leading her to discover Cage’s secret in the most dramatic way imaginable, she isn’t at all sure that she will ever be able to trust him again.
Code Name: Rook is a super fun check-in with the crew at Jamison. It was a little lighter than some of the other books in the series, which was great, especially while we are all living through major stress in our real lives! As usual, Sawyer has given us another hit!
Code Name: Rook (Jameson Force Security, #6) was another great read by Sawyer Bennett. Cage us a highly skilled operative for Jameson Force Security but it is hard when it comes to dating. Cage doesn’t like to talk much about his profession because some of it is top secret and very dangerous. Jaime and Cage end up getting married in Vegas after a couple weeks seeing each other but she doesn’t really know what he does for a living. I really loved reading Cage and Jaime’s journey from lust to love. I can’t wait to read more by Sawyer Bennett.
Audiobook Review: Code Name: Rook (Jameson Force Security, #6) by Sawyer Bennett,
Narrated by Emma Wilder, John Lane
A man of mystery. A woman without a clue. A danger that threatens to consume them both. Cage and Jamie are a match made of secrets. What began by chance quickly spirals out of control. Code Name: Rook takes some getting used to. There are moments when it feels like your walking in slow motion and it’s hard to see the way out. Sawyer holds her cards close to the vest and just as you think you have everything figured out there’s another twist that stops you cold. A spellbinding blend of sensuality and intrigue that thrives on being smartly unpredictable.
I was actually looking forward to Jaime and Cage’s book after getting a glimpse from the last installment. I just didn’t like the timeline of in the beginning to how they met and gotten married (which I’m not a fan of rushed wedding ie 6 weeks from meeting someone (added with the lies from Cage)) and obviously to the hea ending. It just didn’t fit well with how the other books are placed in the series I guess. I just think the resolve of the climatic event was too fast or rushed.
Narrators John Lane and Emma Wilder did a great job.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
for the audio:
Code Name: Rook was more on the romance and family side of Jameson Security this time than about going after the bad guys. There was still a touch of that. But a lot more light. I loved Jaime and Cage from the start! I felt like I already knew them from Kane’s story. Rook brought so much more to their story. I really didn’t feel like Cage was as much of a dumb arse as the situation and his fear just didn’t allow him to be upfront with Jamie. I loved how Cage refused to just let Jamie run or hide. That he knew he loved her that much.
John Lane and Emma Wilder were a fantastic team of narrators as Cage and Jamie. They were well balanced and offset each other as the story moved through. I could really feel Cage when John Lane narrated. And Emma brought a calm sensible demeanor to Jamie that I really liked.
Cage Murdoch loves his job- he loves being the guy behind enemy fire that is able to bring people back to their loved ones. He is no stranger to sacrifice and loss, especially when it comes to those he has deemed his family (including those he works with). He leads a fast-paced, uncertain lifestyle that doesn’t always set him home at 5pm for dinner, and could at any time mean the ultimate sacrifice of his life could be paid. That’s why he doesn’t connect too personally with those he may share an evening with. Fun times and steamy hook-ups are his game, but sticking around until morning is not.
That is until he meets the beautiful Jaime Dolan. She walks right up, asks for what she wants (a fun and steamy night he is all too familiar with); and doesn’t expect anything when night turns to day.
Jaime was hoping to blow off some steam with friends. She is ready to experience life that she sees so many others living and loving, but hasn’t had much experience with. Jaime is used to being a fixer, so she’s ready to fix the steam she’s experiencing in the bedroom.
That is until she meets the gorgeous man that is sitting by himself and looking like he can provide her with the fun she is missing in life. She only wants one night… he can only promise one night. Can they stick to that?
This was a good story about two people that are looking to fill the incompletes in their lives, but don’t believe they have what it take for the “long run”. Secrets will come between them (such as Cage having to lie about his profession) and Jaime not wanting to grow too attached too soon. In the end, they get a HEA, but at what sacrifice?!
I loved getting to read Cage’s story! I am really intrigued with this whole series and reading about all the different characters. Cage and Jamie had really great chemistry! It was radiating off the pages. Their relationship progressed really fast but it worked for them and the story. It was a little frustrating with Cage and his stubbornness but I was invested and needed to know how he was going to make everything right. There was some drama and suspense to the story and that’s one thing that I love about this series but at the same time I feel like there was a missed opportunity. I just wanted a little bit more. It was there but not enough for me to feel emotionally involved with what was happening. Overall, it was a really good story and I am looking forward to what will come next!
It’s no secret that I love Sawyer Bennett’s Jameson Force Security series (although Sawyer Bennett is one of my auto-read author–I’ll read anything she writes!) and I’ve been following the series since the beginning. However, each book is a standalone so don’t feel like you need to read the first five before picking up this one. That being said, I do recommend reading the books in order because it’s a much richer reading experience knowing the stories other characters because they pop up and play supporting roles in each other’s books. It’s a real treat seeing previous characters again and getting an update on them. But, if you don’t want to read the previous books before Rook, it’s still a great read on its own.
Rook is one of my top favorites in the series. I love the premise! Our hero, Cage Murdock, after a grueling mission, went to a bar to unwind. There he met our heroine, Jaime, and they had what was supposed to be a one-night stand. But, Cage couldn’t let her get away, and after about only a couple of months of seeing each other, they ended up getting married in Vegas. The thing is, Cage told Jaime he is a used car salesman (he’s actually one of Jameson Force Security’s top agents), and now he doesn’t quite know how to tell his new wife the truth for fear she’ll leave his sorry behind.
It was such a fun premise! One of my favorite spy movies is True Lies, and Rook was such a fun take on the same trope. I love Cage and Jaime–the chemistry between them was hot! Actually, I loved them already before this book because we got a glimpse of them in the previous book in the series–Code Name: Ghost. The events in Rook and Ghost are mostly happening at the same time. I already knew I was going to have fun reading Rook, and I was right! As always, with every book in the series, there’s also a new mission and this one involves Jaime. It’s not as intense as the ones in other books, but still entertaining.
I read Rook entirely via audiobook, and I thought both narrators (Emma Wilder for Jaime and John Lane for Cage) did a great job bring both characters and the story to life. The audiobook is well-casted, and so much more entertaining than if I was reading the book on my own. I recommend reading Rook via audiobook!
If you’re in the mood for a light yet sexy spy romance, I recommend Rook (and the Jameson Force Security series). You’ll be highly entertained!
Cage just wants some time to be himself. And like any man he has his toys. He also has a lady that he’d like to impress. Jaime loves her family but one of them seems to get under her skin – some of you might be able to relate to that. When she meets Cage, she’s met a force like no other.
I know the author says these are all standalones but if you really want to experience Jameson’s you need to go back to where it first started then follow all the way up to this current tale. Cage also happens to mention a club that the author wrote a series around. If you like a book with some heat I would check it out – after you finish this book of course.
This was a romance that I felt mainly came from the man’s perspective. We do get Jaime’s thoughts but since the series revolves around the business Cage works for I just felt that the story was a little more about Cage – that’s not a bad thing. We do get both perspectives but it’s nice to see the man put in the effort to go after the woman he wants. They are two people who compliment each other. Our author does such a great job in creating them that you can picture them living, and working, somewhere in the real world.
The author still gives us the suspense that makes this a great series to keep returning to. We get to see some of the other characters that we’ve met from previous books. And the current book always leaves me wanting more of the people that work for Jameson Force Security. The author started to make me smile as I was getting toward the ending but when I got to the very end I broke out into a wide grin since I found out there’s going to be another book in the series – now I just have to learn patience.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I have been waiting for Cage’s book and it does not disappoint!!! I loved the chemistry between Cage and Jaime. Their journey isn’t without secrets and throw in a twist and you’ll be hooked until the end. Another great addition to this series! John Lane and Emma Wilder’s narration was fantastic!
Oh, this book!
First, a confession: I somehow haven’t read any of Ms Bennett’s previous Jameson Force Security books yet. (No worries, though–they’re ALL on my TBR now. I’ve even added them to my digital library already.) It didn’t really matter, though–except for not knowing the series characters already, I didn’t have any problem at all starting here.
If you’ve read the previous series book ( Code Name: Ghost ) some of what happens here will trigger deja vu, since this book and that one happen concurrently (which, I admit, rather makes me want to start with that book next instead of going to the beginning). There will be some familiar scenes, told from a different perspective. Of course, since this is Cage and Jaime’s book, there will also be plenty of brand new scenes too, to balance things out. Not to mention at not at all insignificant lie…
I have to admit, though Cage’s reason for the lie is *somewhat* understandable, he really did continue it waaaaaay to long for comfort. Ms Bennett managed to make it mostly believable, but geesh, dude, when every single other character in the book is telling you to stop being an idiot and tell her the truth, maybe you should listen to them?
I can’t deny it made for some fairly funny scenes, though. But poor Jaime…it’s really hard to blame her for her reaction. And good for her for making him work for his redemption.
Though, really–isn’t it better to go from thinking your significant other is a used car salesman to realizing he’s a security specialist than the reverse? 😉
Ms Bennett sets up at least two future books by the end of this one, and I have to say–I am here for them!
But in the meantime, I think I’ll use this time to get caught up in the series. 😉
Rating: 4 stars / A-
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I have truly enjoyed this series, but this book was not what I was expecting. Yet after saying that, I should not be surprised how it played out.
Getting drunk in Vegas and then getting married is not surprising. It’s the start of many a story. What surprised me was how hurt and angry Jamie was when she found out Cage’s secrets. Yes, I would have expected some hurt and anger, but I felt like she held on to it as a crutch, or a reason not to engage with him. But then I was really surprised how quickly her family accepted him and tried to help him patch things up with her.
I have to admit, I love Anna. I know she already had her story, but she is the one person who holds this crew together and she doesn’t get enough credit for it. So I’m going to give her credit. If it wasn’t for her, I’m not sure Jamie would have listened to Cage. So kudos to Anna.
This story reiterates how much communication is necessary in a relationship. I hope they have learned from it and others too.

Code Name: Rook was the sixth book in Sawyer Bennett’s Jameson Force Security series.
Cage Murdock was a former Navy Seal who was now an agent with Jameson Force Security. We met him previously as the player who never intended anything after one night with a woman. He totally didn’t understand monogamy and why his fellow agents were dropping like flies. Until Jaime.
Jaime Dolan was a social worker who had just dumped her cheating boyfriend. She wasn’t upset about the boyfriend but she was upset with the betrayal. Honesty and loyalty were everything. Her best friends convinced her that one night with a gorgeous sexy stranger would cure all.
The timeline began at the same time as book five, Code Name: Ghost. Bennett superbly navigated through the shared stories adhering to the details within the previous book while diving deep into Cage and Jamie’s courtship. We knew from reading the description (and from the previous book) that Cage had lied about his employment and that he had married her – still with the lie intact. The majority of the storyline revolved around the relationship development and the lies that continued to build off each other. Bennett also introduced the unknown conflict within Jaime’s life and entwined all the plots.
All in all, it was a quick, captivating and entertaining read. Bennett also included an all star supporting cast through the Jameson team members and Jaime’s siblings. The stage was set for Jackson and Corrine’s stories – for the next two books, but I’d love to see Jaime’s siblings with books as well! Another Bennett success and I can’t wait for more!
4.25 stars—-CODE NAME: ROOK is the sixth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult JAMESON FORCE SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Jameson Force Security. Several hours later, and one night together, Cage knew he wanted something more but our hero lied about his occupation, leaving Jaime to believe he was a used car salesman. Cage and Jamie
Loved this next instalment in the Jameson Force Series by SawyerCage gets involved with Jamie when he meets her after a successful mission, but lies to her about his occupation. As time progresses, he fails to rectify this as they become more serious and even get married
I loved reading this story especially to see how Cage was going to do himself out of the hole he dug himself into Looking forward to more in this series
The Jameson Force Security series has been one thrill ride after another with this latest release another satisfying addition to the series. With a storyline that’s fairly straightforward it still manages to pull at the heartstrings as a man who doesn’t do commitment desperately tries to keep his marriage intact while figuring out a way to reveal the truth about his job. To the world Cage Murdock’s a used car salesman, but in actuality he’s a former Navy SEAL still saving people from dangerous situations. His wife is Jaime Dolan, a woman that he saw as a just one night kind of gal, but one date led to another that led to a quickie wedding that both of them are very happy with. The only trouble is…Cage’s lie that’s hanging over them like a thundercloud. He still hasn’t told Jaime the truth, but his job definitely comes in handy when she’s kidnapped by people associated with her slightly shady brother.
Cage is a wonderful and sturdy hero, dependable to a fault and supportive of his friends. He’s someone you can count on, someone always there in the background who deserved to finally take center stage. The first half of this book went over events in the previous book, events seen from Cage’s perspective which enhanced the previous installment. The second half is about Cage being out in the field while doing what he can to save his marriage…a plan that has him continuing to be the good guy he’s always been. There was no grand gesture or angst-filled apology from this guy that’s for sure…just a slow and steady journey to forgiveness! He’s lucky that Jaime is his wife as she’s a perfect match to him. Strong, likable, and someone readers can see themselves hanging out with is how I’d describe her. She’s kind hearted, down to earth, with scars from lies told to her in the past. She couldn’t help falling for Cage though in a connection that sizzled from the start. Once her life gets put in danger the suspense is amped up too in a journey full of twists and turns that gives them time to work through the big secret that’s been hanging over them.
From the first page to the last this was a satisfying story with a good romance and exhilarating action…hallmarks of Ms. Bennett’s writings. I was glued to the story, frantically turning the pages to reach the HEA. It was a quick read, not too overly emotionally, but well-crafted to make me care about this couple. Along the way we got to see past characters as well as tempting moments from others who are now coming out of the shadows and that have me greatly anticipating what comes next.
