I knew the risks of this job when I signed on with Jameson Force Security. Knew my time as a marine would prepare me for the danger I would face. But no amount of training could have ever prepared me for the helplessness of watching my teammates die, the agonizing mental and physical pain of torture, or the despair of captivity. Returning home to Pittsburgh following a mission gone wrong, I am … riddled with guilt and haunted by nightmares. I spend my days trying to regain the parts of myself I lost in that desert, the pieces that made me the Malik Fournier I once was. While the physical effects of my torture are fading, the emotional ones are proving much more stubborn and I find solace from the last person I should ever seek such comfort. Anna Tate lost even more than I did in that mission. Now a widow and a single mom to the daughter she gave birth to shortly after her husband’s death, Anna offers me comfort I don’t deserve. As my feelings for Anna grow, I worry that once she learns the truth about what happened, she’ll turn her back on me. I pull her to me just as tightly as I push her away. Hoping this forbidden love will save me from the ghost I’ve become.

Code Name: Ghost has been one of my more anticipated reads. Malik has been in the background of several different books and I’ve been interested in his story for quite a while. Malik and Anna did not disappoint in their Jameson Force Security story. I appreciated their grief, recovery, and growth process. Awesome addition to the group! As a total personal aside, the feeding scenes with Anna were touching.
Wow!!!! I devoured this book. I have been waiting for this book since Malik went missing in Syria. I have mixed emotions about this book. I loved it, it was eye opening and yet I’m a little sad now that I have the full story. Why sad? Because I don’t think this book can be topped.
Malik lost a piece of himself in Syria during captivity. No surprise. But to find that missing piece in the wife of a teammate he lost in Syria has to be one of the hardest emotional roller coasters ever. And let’s not forget bro-code.
Anna lost her husband on a mission gone bad. She became a single mother weeks later. But she found a piece of herself when she convinced Kynan to give her a job as his Admin. Then Malik is found and she is relieved. Is she really over losing Jimmy? Is she ready to move on?
This book was chock full of emotions. The guilt, self recrimination, and emotional toll being in captivity for 5 months took on Malik. The self exploration of her own desires and figuring out what Jimmy would have wanted for Anna. The long talks. The maintenance repairs. There was just so much going on in this book. I could NOT put it down. Now, I’m sad that it’s over. I waited so long for this book, the anticipation and now it’s just over. I want more.
Oh, my goodness! This is one of my two favorite books this month! Malik surprised me at every turn, and so did Anna. They’re both refreshing and different than a lot of characters I’ve read before. They have a deep connection because of what they’ve experienced, and I could feel it with every page. And, of course, I can’t NOT talk about how swoony Malik is. Any man who loves a single momma and her baby is awesome, but Malik takes it to the next level. I mean, it’s not surprising. I’ve come to expect an insane amount from SB’s alphas. I was not disappointed. 😉
Whilst this book is the 5th book in the Jameson Force Security series, it can absolutely be read on a stand alone basis.
This was a much more emotional book than what we have come to expect from this series. It covers two people coming to grips with their own sense of loss and the guilt experienced in moving on. I really enjoyed how Anna and Malik’s journey started from a friendship and how there was no games and they were able to discuss their issues like adults. All in all, an enjoyable read.
I was provided with a copy of this book from the publisher; there was no inducement or obligation and I opted to leave a review.
I’ve been looking forward to reading Malik’s story and I must say that I really enjoyed it.
“I don’t know this woman at all, yet, because of what happened in the desert, she and I have a thread tying us together.”
Captured whilst on a mission, Malik Fournier had been in captivity in Syria for five months before he’s rescued, against all hope, by his fellow agents. Acclimatising back to normal life isn’t too bad, especially when he starts to bond with Anna Tate – the widow of his colleague who died on the same mission that he was captured.
“Holding me in place as he head tilts and he deepens the kiss. I feel it all the way down to my soul.”
Anna has managed to survive through losing her husband and giving birth to their daughter after his death. She’s asserted her independence to become a single working mother. It’s not easy every day but her little girl makes it all worthwhile. She enjoys her job and has been fully invested in the return of Malik Fournier – a miracle that needed to happen for her to truly move forward. She’s not sure quite why but she’s more than happy when he is returned to the fold. However, she never expects to bond with him, nor to start having feelings that go beyond friendship.
This was a sweet story. Malik had suffered some horrors and wrestles with his grief and his guilt, but there is no denying that this story is sweet. Anna is a pretty strong woman and a great mother. She’s capable and stubbornly independent. The connection between them felt organic and natural – I loved the tight attachment that formed between them. A great story that was full of warm friendship, close family, and the hope for a new life and love.
I do believe Code Name: Ghost is my favorite book of the Jameson Force Security series! I’ve been patiently waiting to get get Malik Fournier’s story. He and his being held captive has been mentioned in a few of Sawyer Bennett’s other books. I couldn’t wait to get his story and see who he is and what kind of man he is. I was not at all disappointed. He was so dreamy. Like, real. Not over the top. Anna works at Jameson as Kynan’s assistant. She is recently widowed and has a newborn baby that she’s raising on her own. I found her down to earth and refreshing. Anna and Malik were both really good people and had a wonderful line of communication with each other.
Malik has recently been rescued after being help prisoner for five months. Anna lost her husband on that same mission. The two of them have some sort of connection that neither can explain. I really enjoyed watching their story unfold. I absolutely loved them. I hope to get glimpses of them in future books. I’m also hoping that Cages book is next. He got himself in an interesting little predicament in Code Name: Ghost and I’m anxious to see how it plays out. Go read this book! You won’t regret it!
I love love love Anna & Malik…talk about a story!
I feel hard for these two…they had some much to overcome separately and I was rooting for them!
They both had traumas to overcome and I think part of helping the each heal was finding each other. Out of the ashes came something great…something worth trying for…something worth fighting for and having.
It was amazing that Malik was able to be so kind and caring given his own set of issues and he just was the best man he could be for Anna. I would love to have a catch up with them down the line (hint hint hint).

I am a big fan of Sawyer Bennett. I look forward to reading all of her books. But some times there are books that you really can’t wait for them to come out. You read others to pass the time. However, each book you read leaves you feel disappointed and unfulfilled. You know it can never live up to the hype of Code Name Ghost. I have read all but one of the of the Jameson Force Security books. Each book in the series gets better and better. This book will knock your socks off! I mean you can’t go wrong with this quick read. It’s a page turner, it’s fast past, and best of all you feel satisfied. No joke. I know you all can read the synopsis and you don’t need me to recap it for you. You want an honest opinion. Here it is. This book is a must read. I know everyone says that but I truly mean it. Sawyer does a great job of bring action, passion, family, acceptance, and joy to the characters she writes. Well done Ms. Bennett!!
The Jameson Force Security series is one of my all-time favorites. Code Name: Ghost completely tore me apart. From the very first chapter I was forced into witnessing Malik Fournier’s life and all he went through while in captivity. How does anyone come back from that? He endured so much physically but mentally it is worse. Anna Tate is a beautiful soul. I cried for her throughout this story but mostly because of her strength. She is raising her baby after losing her husband in a mission that went completely wrong. She finds peace in getting to know Malik and being there for him. Malik feels he now needs to take care of Anna and her baby after losing a member of his team during a failed rescue mission. But the guilt he carries is more than Anna realizes. Is he willing to confess to her his sins and pray he does not lose her forever?
Forbidden romance at its best. I do not think my heart will ever get over their story.
Favorite Fournier.
So if you loved the Cold Fury series and have read the Arizona Vengeance series – you’ve wondered about Malik. But the beauty of this is that you can also read as a stand alone.
But oh my! We’ve been jonesing for Malik’s story and once again Sawyer Bennett does not disappoint. It is a rare author that can keep hitting out of the park stories that I’ve been longing for.
The story starts out with Malik as a prisoner. We share in his trauma over what happened on a rescue mission gone wrong and then go along with him during his recovery. A big part of that recovery is Anna who was widowed on that rescue mission. They share a unique bond that brings them close as friends and then to a deeper bond.
“I want you to know I’m okay with this. I want you to be, too. I think we have something, Malik”
Obviously Malik struggles with being with Anna when he feels such guilt over the mission. But their story rang true and you can’t help but root for these too. Plus there is the return of all the Fournier siblings and one of my favorite Cold Fury, Van.
This book was everything I hoped for and more. Such a great story and Jameson Force Security is another winner of a series. Hint, hint – I have a soft spot for Kynan, so this will always be one of my faves.
You don’t want to miss out.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
Code Name: Ghost is the 5th book in the Jameson Force Security Series. Malik Fournier had been captured while the team had been trying to rescue private citizens in Syria. But even worse than being captured is the death of some of his fellow team members. Malik is suffering from a massive amount of guilt because he feels guilty that he was responsible for what went wrong with their mission and that he was rescued and alive while some of his teammates are dead. One of them being Anna’s husband, Jimmy. Now she is a single mom with a daughter who will never get to see or know her father.
I love Anna and Malik’s story. They are beautiful together and they are getting over their heartbreak.
Sawyer Bennett knows how to write to pull on those emotional heartstrings. The other thing is that she weaves her characters throughout her other series. Malik’s capture shows up in both Arizona Vengeance Series and Wicked Horse Vegas Series. By the way both are outstanding series as well as this one. 5 STARS
This is a story that fans of this series have been breathlessly waiting for and I’m happy to report that it was well worth the wait. From the very first page readers are pulled into the dark history of what Malik Fournier endured after a recent mission went wrong, the physical and emotional toll it took on him, and just how difficult of a journey he’ll undertake to take back his life. Joining him on his journey is the widow of one of the men killed during his mission, a woman he quickly comes to count on for her strong will and unwavering support when he needs it most. Theirs is a slow and steady journey of friends to lovers, a journey full of tears and moments of joy, that had me rooting for them every step of the way.
Malik’s return home was something to celebrate amongst the Jameson Force Security team (a group of larger than life individuals who’ve come to feel more like family), but for him he’s clearly still trying to work through what befell him. After learning about what he endured for those five months it’s understandable to see him on edge at the start, a bit lost and guilt-ridden for all that happened under his command, but he’s determined to return to the man he once was. It’s a slow and steady journey that’s empowering and ultimately uplifting with moments full of heart and soul. With each turn of the page I fell for Malik even more, wanted to wrap him in a warm embrace for all the burdens he’s taken on himself, but was grateful that Anna was there for him as she was a perfect match for him.
Anna has been struggling too since Malik’s return, but for very different reasons. Her husband was killed during the mission that ended with Malik’s abduction and she’s now a widow and single mother to four month old Avery. That mission created an immediate bond between the two of them though and has them relating to each other like no one else can. Theirs is a connection that starts out supportive but slowly turns romantic as friendship turns to the healing power of love. Through everything Anna’s an admirable heroine, a strong-willed and independent woman not afraid to say what she wants and needs. She’s a perfect match to Malik and I enjoyed the mature and realistic flow of their relationship, a relationship that addressed moving on from the past free of guilt and embracing love when and where you find it.
This was a story well worth the wait as it was a beautiful balance of acknowledging the past while embracing the future. Malik and Anna were an engaging couple, a pair you rooted for every step of the way. Their interactions were sensual and supportive and were made even more delightful by the addition of Avery. They were a family in the making and with each turn of the page they endeared themselves to me even more. I enjoyed seeing the rest of the Fournier family and the strong bond they had with each other too. It was truly heartwarming to see and was another layer to the familial vibe permeating this series as a whole. With an eye to the next installment I also enjoyed the playful interactions between Anna and Cage, their sibling-like banter, and I can’t wait to see where things go for him after the way things ended here. In a series that’s getting stronger and stronger, readers will find themselves quickly consumed by the action and romance Ms. Bennett has crafted, and will be left anticipating each compelling new release.
Finally, Malik Fournier is home and what a homecoming it is – especially when he meets Anna Tate. The widow of Malik’s partner who died when Malik was captured – a death that Malik blames himself for, and now as his feelings for Anna grow Malik needs to make a final decision – to either love or walk away.
I love the Jamesone Force series and Malik and Anna’s book doesn’t disappoint. Ms. Bennett weaves a fantastic story about loss and finding love again. I love the fact that Anna knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. We also get to see some old friends from multiple series which I always love.
All in all – Code Name Ghost is a wonderful conclusion to the Malik arc and I cannot wait for what comes next in the Jameson Force series
Malik. God I was waiting for this story since we knew he got captured. That was torture for me as well!! The first chapter had me already crying like a little girl. The feels, the atmosphere the author described gave me all the chills.
THIS is what a book brings to life! At least for me.
When Malik returns to Pittsburgh, he is carrying a lot of guilt with him. It takes time for him, to get back to his ‘old’ self, and talking and spending time with Anna helps too. Anna lost her husband during the op gone bad in which Malik has been captured. Now widow, single mom, she needed to adjust her life a lot. Working for Jameson Security as well, she’s is making the best of it. With Malik back, they form a friendship, and is lovely to see how they slowly get feelings for each other and eventually fall in love. But nothing is ever so easy, right??
Sawyer Bennett presents us again with a great story full of suspense, feelings, heartbreaking, lots of fun and banter (I love Cage btw!!) and sexy times. She has me hooked from the beginning, and I devour each and every book!!!
I was glad to finally read Malik’s story to find out what happened to him. I feel he came back better to handle what he went through as a prisoner than most people would have. I hated that he felt guilty that he could have done something different to save two of their guys. I was glad to see Anna go to work for Jameson after her husband died and her daughter was born. I loved watching Anna and Malik develop a strong bond. This book was more sweet for me as Ms. Bennett let Malik and Anna show their emotions and thoughts to each other. It has to be hard for a special forces guy to be so open with his feelings. Ms. Bennett has a way of writing where I feel like I am there with the characters in the book. I loved the story and strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
4.5 I’ve been looking forward to Code Name: Ghost and Malik having his own book for a while now. Malik is a great guy who has been through so much. He has a difficult time recovering and dealing/coping with everything that’s happened. I really enjoyed reading his thoughts on the situation, it was very interesting. I of course love his family so I was happy to have that little bit with them, I would have loved even more to be honest. Anna has been through just as much as Malik if not more. She is very strong to deal and cope with what she has. She’s caring and gentle and a great partner for Malik. Their relationship develops quite quickly with them forming a bond over their pasts. The Cage content was quite funny and I’m very interested in how he’s going to handle all of that. I very much so enjoyed Code Name: Ghost, I just wish it could have been a little bit longer. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
Ghost is the 5th book in this series, yet all are standalones. This series…if I could virtually swoon, I totally would. Every book in the Jameson Security series is my favorite as soon as I finish reading it, and Anna and Malik are such strong complicated characters that they fit this relationship well. Both Anna and Malik have such a bond because of their past circumstances and it felt so right. They had their hurdles to get through as any good romance does, however the strength of the writing and character development makes this book. Ms. Bennett’s books bring me such joy. Thank you for always giving the reader strong characters and wonderful relationships. Malik and Anna will be my favorite couple…until the next book in this series comes out
If you’ve been reading this series, you for sure have been waiting for Malik’s story. This story started out with bang as Malik’s is being rescued. Being a prisoner for so long I was curious to see how he would handle being back home. His guilt over the death of his teammates felts true to life. His and Anna’s bond was a unique twist to the story. I wasn’t sure how they could become a couple after what they both had been through.
This story was not only sexy it had a sweet vibe to it. I love how Anna let Malik know he wasn’t going ignore her because of his guilt. I love the Jameson Group and how they support each other. I loved all the emotions I felt while reading this book. Great addition to the series.
Anna is trying to do everything on her own, to show herself, her mom and everyone she can be an independent single mom. After Jimmy past and had Avery without him by her side, she just needed to be HER. But when Malik Fournier walks back into the Jameson Force Security offices after being rescued the first person he sees is Anna and the pull is so strong between them he isn’t sure how to handle it and everything about and around Anna.
Can these two emotional, broken souls heal each other ? Can Anna get through to Malik that he is what she needs and can he get out of his own head that the deaths were not his fault ?
The emotions are high and strong in this installment but Sawyer knows how to put your mind at ease with her soothing words !! The love these two feel for each other is nothing less than something beautiful !! No lies, no holding back just truths !
It is also great to see all the other guys to see what they are up to and ohhhh boyyyy Cage got himself in some pickle !!
This was a win win for Malik and Anna !! Great to see the whole Fournier Family <3
A hard-fought journey! With the highly anticipated fifth book in her always addictive Jameson Force Security series, Sawyer Bennett brings her readers Malik’s story at long last. Since the series began we’ve known his story and his fate was unknown as he remained missing. With this book, we see his return home, learn some of what happened to him and watch him start the process of putting his life back together. The story was sweet and satisfying, but I honestly wanted more. More feeling, more angst, more gut-wrenching emotion. I wanted my heart torn out and put back together again after what they both had suffered … and I sadly didn’t get that.
Malik has been a draw to the reader since he first went missing during a mission back in the beginning of the series. He’s attached to a few of our favorite characters from Ms. Bennett’s hockey books and was known well before he even came onto the pages of this book.
Anna had her world fall apart and had to put it back together again all by herself. She’s been strong and resilient and shows the reader her true strengh.
I recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys a close knit group of work buddies who find their forever love in between missions and danger knocking around every corner.
