Faced with the unattractive options of an affair with her boss’s husband or the unknown, Chanel Smith chooses the unknown and unwittingly traps herself into joining the New South Wales’ Police Force.
More interested in fashion than felony, she staggers through training and finds herself posted to the forces most notorious crime hot spot, King’s Cross. There, she becomes entangled in a case of the worst kind – a serial killer targeting young women.
As she is drawn further into the seedy underground in her attempt to unravel the truth, Chanel makes new friends, new enemies and attracts the attention of the killer. Can she solve the case in time, or will she become the killer’s next victim?

I didn’t think I was going to like this series. But it grabbed me with its hilarious conversations and situations. Not a lot of books make me burst out laughing. How do I explain to my grandbaby that I was laughing at the part in the book where a cross-dresser in full female costume accidently took 200mg of Viagra while wearing a very tight …
I really enjoyed this humorous mystery. Chanel is a very likable character whose accidental entrance into a local Australian police department is both fun and funny. I was swept along with her foibles and problems as well as her budding romance…which in the end is…well, you’ll just have to read it to find out.
This is the first of what I …
This was a quick read filled with lots of humor as well as being a mystery set in Australia. It was highly entertaining, but a little over the top in places. There were a few grammatical and spelling errors in the Kindle version that I read.
The main character is naïve, caring, likeable and entertaining. Will she survive her probationary …
Really fun book, enjoyed it thoroughly,
This might be a series worth skipping. Fairly rudimentary character development filled with cliches of drag Queens, police (box of donuts on the desk) and girls as bimbos or prostitutes.
If you’re interested in a plot written in high school English class, dive in. z Otherwise, find a different author to escape with.
I’m not Australian, so I cannot fully appreciate this story. As an American, some of the references are beyond my understanding. That said, this is not a bad way to spend an afternoon. Chanel is the flighty young lady pictured on the cover; Cocoa is the little dog on her leash. Chanel’s life has been going nowhere and she needs something …
Pleasant, light read. I enjoyed it as an easy read at the end of a full day.
Its ok if you like the stories of bigger than life people
I love everything this author writes! This is a charming story, with funny characters, and twist to the plot I never guessed! You can’t help but to fall in love with the main character, laugh at the things that happen to her, and cheer her on when her unique sleuthing skills win the day!
First in a fun series
Very similar to Janet Evanovich characters but, Chanel is a bubbling police officer vs. detective. Fun, light read & you’ll read the next two in the series too!
Predictable character , but a good story
Not quite believable but fun to read.
I read this during a flight and my husband had to tell me to stop laughing outloud. I was embarassing him:)
Highly engaging, light but captivating
I really enjoyed this book, though it got a bit more graphic than I expected, and at times was too much for me, though I was engaged enough I toughed it through the gruesome parts.
Great book by an author who really wants you to have a great time with her characters.
This is a fun read with original characters, an interesting plot, and a surprisingly cool twist . I thoroughly liked it and immediately bought all the sequels.
I really enjoyed this. And she got me hooked – I’ve already finished the 2nd one, and am on to the 3rd.
Great character’s when she realizes that after pretending to become a cop, that she really does it becomes funny.Like when her nickname becomes bun. When looking for serial killer, finds out it’s who she has crush on.like the ending for she thinks she has list her job and it’s the opposite
