(previously titled: Worth the Risk)From New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg comes a new, sexy standalone about taking chances and finding love when it’s least expected. Or wanted. This whole contest was supposed to be easy. I know, I know. Famous last words. It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. … time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you’ve seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I’m successful, if I’m able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job.
But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number ten, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell?
Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen.
But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with baggage. Even ones with chiseled abs and killer smiles.
But he got to me. They got to me.He and his son and their messy, crazy life. But I got to him too. I see the stolen glances. I feel the walls he built start to crumble. I recognize that there’s an unexpected beauty to the chaos in his life.
And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months were just fun or if what we have is worth risking it all?

This book was worth every risk to my heart and my head with Grayson and Sidney’s story. This is not just a single Dad romance it so much more, it is about learning to love and trust and that sometimes the best things in life are worth the risk. Their story is about learning that even the best laid plans are not always set in stone. Worth The Risk will make you laugh, cry, swoon and will show you what hot and steamy are all about. A story that will not only make you fall in love with an everyday hero but his little sidekick Luke. The last of the Malone brothers will frustrate you and at times make you want to kick his gorgeous butt, however every maddening minute will be worth watching him realize he needs to fight for what he wants.
4.5 ‘Choosing risks’ Stars!

K. Bromberg just delivers success after success! I fell in love with the Malone brothers in Cuffed and since I adore single parent themed romances, I was eagerly awaiting to read Grayson’s story. Of course, you can imagine that Kristy did not disappoint her readers (since she never does!). The woman is one of my favorite authors and she one of the best when it comes to a emotional slow burn romance. Worth the Risk surely is that and so much more!
So, Worth the Risk is K. Bromberg’s newest release and it can be read as a standalone novel but I do highly recommend reading the other Malone’s stories (Cuffed and Combust) because these hot heroes will blow your mind! Now, Grayson Malone is one hell of a hero. He is a rescue helicopter pilot and single dad of an adorable kid called Luke. Enter Sidney Thorton, a woman coming from wealth but who just wants her father to see she is capable of being the best editor in chief of their fashion magazine. First, she has to save another of their magazines and what better way than a Hot Dad contest? Well, someone is not very happy his brothers sign him in on said contest and now Sidney has a lot of work on her hands. Let’s say the rest is history!
I can’t get enough.
I’m mad at her.
I want her.
I don’t want to want her.
Christ, do I want her.
Do I adore emotional love stories! Kristy is an amazing writer, I love how she develops her stories and the building of her characters and the relationships between them. In this case, Sidney is someone who reminds Grayson of his past and the selfish woman that left him and his little one for money. What is the consequence of that? Grayson is not happy with Sidney’s presence in his life at the start. He wants to focus on getting back on track, he wants to focus on his life with Luke and he definitely does not want to feel what he feels for Sidney. Man, I loved the slow burn. These two have sparks from the very first moment and let me tell you, the outcome was explosive!
She tastes like heaven and hell. Like want and need. Like deception and desire.
The chemistry between this couple is simply unstoppable. Grayson and Sidney will make you melt all over the place with all those sexy and emotional scenes. You’ll love seeing more of the Malone brothers togehter too. And you will fall in a puddle of goo with all those absolutely sweet moments with Luke. He is the best kid and I totally get why Grayson wants to protect him with everything that he has. It’s beautiful to see how he starts trusting Sidney, how they develop their love relationship together with Luke and how that ends in a very much deserved happy ending. You all know how much I love them!
“You are the risk I chose to take. You are the one I choose.”
Therefore, I am rating Worth the Risk with 4.5 STARS because it was the love story that I envisioned for Grayson Malone and I am so happy he found his soulmate in Sidney and how lovely they are as a family together with Luke. Also, it was great to keep seeing the other Malone’s and their loved ones. I will surely miss these characters because now they have a place in my heart. But I am excited because we will get to read another story on this world about the sassy Desi Whitman! If you haven’t read this series and you are a fan of K. Bromberg’s work, be sure to check it out because it’s so worth it!
So loved Grayson and Sidney’s story it’s full of angst, sexiness, emotional rollacoaster but most of all it’s heartfelt romance at it’s best.
4.5 Stars
If you love an emotional small town romance with a strong theme of family, look no further than Worth The Risk.
Worth The Risk features a swoon worthy single father, who just happens to be an everyday hero. Grayson is a sexy, sweet, brooding and stubborn man, but a wonderful father.
Luke is Grayson’s young son, and he is simply adorable and will steal your heart in his quest to find a mother.
Sidney is a complex character, despite being from a wealthy family, and a tad high maintenance at times she’s hard working, determined and not at all the shallow and entitled female she comes across early in the title.
Sidney and Grayson have a love/hate relationship and when they aren’t flirting, they are arguing.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each title in this series, and found Grayson and Sidney’s story to be captivating, passionate and heartfelt.
I’ve been waiting for Grayson Malone’s book since reading and loving the prior two books in the Everyday Heroes series, and it did NOT disappoint. As expected from K. Bromberg, it is a sexy and emotional love story with a swoony, compelling hero and a story that keeps you turning the pages. Grayson is a single dad, and he’s absolutely dreamy with his son. He’s broody, grumpy and cynical about love, and when Sidney swoops into his life, he’s not her biggest fan because she reminds him of his ex. He’s really upset and snarly when he realizes that he’s attracted to her. They share a prickly rapport and trade sharp, snappy barbs while the sexual tension escalates. Sidney has to prove she’s not going to hurt Grayson, but he has to be willing to lower his defenses to let her in.
I love these three Malone brothers and am sad the series is over, but Worth the Risk is a great way to end it. K. Bromberg just can’t do wrong, and she’s an auto-buy.
An incredibly heartwarming story of finding love after heartbreak and so much more.
Sooo…sigh…I read this book and was all ready to do my review after finishing but I made the mistake of reading some other reviews first. There were two reviews in particular that made me question if I read the same book. They made me think I missed something in the story. Both of these reviewers saw a completely different approach to this story and claimed there was verbal abuse by Grayson, the (H), and called Sydney, the (h) stupid for accepting that abuse. Now, being that I am a survivor of verbal and mental abuse by someone I loved. I began to really question if I had missed that in the story. How could I miss something like that since I had lived it myself? So I decided I needed to re-read this book and really scrutinize every detail. My conclusion, you’re wondering?
After reading Worth the Risk twice what I see is a man who has been incredibly hurt to his core by rejection of the woman he loved in more ways then one. He has been reminded of that rejection every day for the past eight years because his wealthy ex-wife and her entire family didn’t just reject him, they rejected their new born son Luke also. Luke also just wants a mom. He wants to be like his friends and have two parents. Grayson has protected him from knowing that his mother didn’t want him and that she signed her rights away. So like any parent would do, Grayson protects Luke fiercely. He doesn’t want him to get his hopes up if he dates someone. So he does what any single parent does by keeping any date he has from meeting Luke.
Sydney is a woman interested in her career. She comes from a well to do family and originally from the small town of Sunnyvale. Her family owns a publishing company that publishes several magazines. One of those magazines is called Modern Family and it’s subscriptions have been declining. Sydney’s father has challenged her with the task of boosting the readership and bringing the publication back in popularity, primarily online. If she succeeds, her father has offered the possibility of promoting her to editor of the fashion publication she is really interested in running. She has six months to turn Modern Family around. So after some serious thought she comes up with an idea for a contest. A Hot Dad contest with five hundred entries submitted and narrowed to one hundred. Those have been voted on by the readers and whittled down to twenty Hot Dads, of which, Grayson Malone is one. The story really gets going when Sydney goes to talk with Grayson and inform him he is in the top twenty. Unbeknownst to Sydney, Grayson didn’t enter himself in the contest, his two brothers did and thus the battle begins. Because after seeing him Sydney knows he could win the contest and she wants him to be involved in it. Grayson fights it all and balks at getting pictures taken and etcetera because he thought his brothers were joking when they told him about it. Thus begins this fascinating tale of determination, guts, heroism, persistence and most of all hard fought, well deserved love. In conclusion, I did not see any abuse anywhere in this story. What I saw was baggage filled with fear. Fear of taking a chance on someone other than yourself and fighting to conquer that fear. I loved this book immensely and it was definitely worth the second read.
Apparently, it had been set in stone for awhile now , the fact that this awesome woman, who is called Kristy Bromberg, will never cease to amaze me with the way her mind works and the heart-captivating stories she creates in there. Each and every time, I find myself with my jaw on the floor and my heart between soaring in cloud nine and braking into million pieces on the ground. There is no escaping the Bromberg phenomenon, no matter how many times I have read her books. Each time will always feel like the very first.
Well, I think we need to take a minute of silence as tribute to the Malone brothers whose circle just closed – I hope not. First, there was Grant Malone, the hot cop in Cuffed who fell in love with his childhood friend. Then, there was Grady Malone, the irresistible firefighter in Combust who fell hard for his friend’s sister. And now, there is GRAYSON MALONE; the sensitive, i-don’t-have-words-to-describe single dad and pilot. Three brothers, three love stories that squeezed my heart in the best way possible, three men who you can’t help yourself falling head over heels for each one of them.
And really, from where should I start with this one. My everything is blown away. Undoubtedly, I was waiting a powerful story and full of everything for Gray(son), but I never expected it to be so damn intense. From start to the very end, it’s just pouring out of it in tons along with the incredible levels of love, the consuming passion, the heartbreaks, the struggles, the precious moments of pure peeing-on-myself laughter. The wait was definitely worth it.
Grayson & Sidney’s love without doubt has earned every high and highest praise there is. Their story is so painfully beautiful that I couldn’t drag myself off the cliff of love they pushed me on. And really, I didn’t want to. I just let myself fall in their exploding abyss. Page after page after page, I fell harder and harder for them and I couldn’t put it down even to pick up my mom’s phone calls. I kept reading and reading and feeling and feeling. Surely, there were times that I didn’t know what exactly should I feel and how should I react to some of the things both of them were doing. While I could understand where Grayson’s hesitations, anger, perspectives, fears, “judgments” etc were coming from, there were moments that I wanted to punch him for his stupidity and the hurt he was causing both on himself and Sid. But those things only made his redemption, wake-up-call and, finally, his transformation that much more important, beautiful and ground and core shaking. As for Sid, she had me and has me on her side. There is no doubt in my mind that she is one of the strongest and most well-written and beautiful female characters Kristy has written and exist in the romance world. Although there were some moments where she had my feelings a bit confused about her actions and I am still a bit torn about some of them, the simple truth is that I loved her even more because of them and the realness and the strong foundation they added to her character. CONCLUSION? Grayson & Sidney are PHENOMENAL!!! Epic characters with every meaning of the words.
Their story isn’t, though, only to show the power of love. Their story is also about overcoming your fears. It’s about the things and the courage it takes for you to put yourself again out there after you have gotten hurt. It’s about changing and improving yourself, some times without realizing it, because you know this is the only way to gain in this life and not lose what really matters. It’s about the biggest never-ending war each one of us has to face; the one with him/herself. All these and so much more make Gray & Sid’s love, one to take notice and devour.
So many Kodak moments. So many other characters who put their two very heavy cents in the unfolding.
First, let’s talk about Luke. Oh My, that kid!!! He is the epitome of perfection and BEST KID CHARACTER. Seriously, he is awesome from the top of his hair to the bottom of his toes There wasn’t a moment where I was swooning over him. And the different emotions he made me feel only made him that much precious. One moment, I was hurting for him and his desire to have a mom and the next I was laughing so hard that tears were pouring out of my eyes and I had almost peed myself when he asked “casually” his dad about vaginas. The Kodak moments I talked about? I wanted so bad to be a fly on the wall when that convo took place. And that scene is only ONE of the tens I highlighted and who stuck in my head and in front of my eyes.
And then, it’s Grady and Grant. They are back and they are THE BEST!!! From the one side, Grant who put Gray in his place with just his words which truly deserved an award. Time and time again, he made Grayson think some things and help him wake up and realize what he has in front of him before he loses it. I loved how much his words affected Grayson and, little by little, had him unlock his heart to Sidney without realizing it. And from the other side comes Grady. His craziness has already claimed a huge part of my heart. And watching him use it to coax his little brother off his comfort zone and put him in front of his emotions, only makes me love him more.
I really don’t know how she does it but my list for The Best Sex Scenes is so dominated by Kristy that’s not even funny. With every new book, she adds to it at least a couple more. Every time, my body jostles from the intensity, passion and emotions she puts in them. Which the same happens with her character’s kissing scenes. One by one can set you apart and all together can provide the electricity a whole continent needs for at least a year.
There is no question about the greatness of Kristy’s stories. They are just that; GREAT!! One by one of the couples she has created over the years, have scarred themselves in my heart and soul and they are from the firsts I can’t resist going back again and again. And each reread puts them deeper in me, makes my fall for them stronger and strengthens their rightful place in the literature world. Whoever hasn’t either met the Malone brothers or hasn’t read a Bromberg love yet, this is the time to start. Trust me, nothing will be the same after you read one.
Amazing!! Bromberg has gone it again!! Gray’s Story was nothing like I expected! He was infuriating and made me Crazy but I just wanted to help fix him! Sidney is so unprepared for Gray and the effect he has on her! This book was Red Hot!! I loved their hate/love relationship and how they both tried to ignore their feelings, it made the fall so much sweeter! Gray was sexy and had so much pent up anger due to unresolved feelings towards his past. I wanted to shake him so man times throughout the story for his stubbornness. Sydney was in new territory, she has voiced her opinion many times on how she feels about children and her future. So it was great seeing the characters change in the story. These two opposites were quite a pair, just when you think we have a truce, everything comes crashing down. This book was just as emotional as the previous two but for a whole new reason! I loved Luke, he melted my heart and made me hope! I laughed uncontrollably so many times I had tears in my eyes. Bromberg really hit the nail on the head when it comes to parenting and the curious minds of children! I was also excited to have the other Malone brothers and their spouses staring the shit pot throughout the story. I feel like I’m a part of them, hit with every emotion right alongside the characters. This book shows you just how beautiful love can be if you just take the risk! I love it! You will fall in love the the last Malone brother! Don’t pass this up! It’s a wonderful heartwarming read that will set you on fire and leave you wanting more!
Sexy. Heartfelt. Compassionate. Bromberg’s addition to the Malone brothers is filled with what ifs and maybes as a single dad and a hometown princess come together, drift apart, and clash again.
Sidney left her small hometown in the hopes of becoming a fashion magazine superstar in her fathers company. But with any young woman she’s had her ups and downs. Her latest drama has caused her father a huge dilemma: can she make it as an executive? Now she has to pass the test of helping run the family themed magazine in her hometown. Problem? She’s not the typical family values woman. It throw in a hot dad contest and one Grayson Malone and temptation takes on a whole new face. She’s got the smarts and the sweets but can she convince Grayson that happy ever after is the real deal?
Grayson doesn’t trust Sidney. Girls like her, the well off family kind, don’t ever turn out to be as sweet as they seem. Grayson knows better than most but he’s thankful it resulted in the sunshine that is his son. He’s raised him on his own and shown him what love truly means as they’ve gone about heir small town happy lives. But his troublesome brothers have a trick up their sleeve; they’ve entered him in a hot dad contest and the woman running it? None other than his ex’s beat friend and fellow princess Sidney. How can he trust her when she brings up so many memories of pain for him?
I LOVED Sidney and Grayson’s story. The perfect blend of insta-lust and slow burn. There’s a back and forth pull between them other as they continue to fall for one another while denying that they can have a future. Grayson isn’t sure just how he could ever love another woman and Sidney struggles to show him the way when she knows she isn’t staying for long. There’s sacrifice and heartbreak in this story. But don’t let it deter you. This is a story about overcoming the fear of losing it all again and seeing if the chance at true love really is worth the risk.
I was anxiously waiting for Grayson Malone’s story and Worth the Risk was worth the wait! K.Bromberg gives us a sweet, romantic story that you just love in a romance book. Grayson is a single dad to his adorable & funny 8 year son Luke. He has commitment issues due to having his heart broken when Luke’s mom walks out on them.
Sidney Thorton is a rich city girl whose focus in life is her job. She doesn’t do relationships especially one where a kid is involved.
Worth the Risk is a cross between enemies to lovers & a second chance romance. Grayson & Sidney have a bit of a past from when they were in high school and not all of it good. If they both can get rid of their own baggage and take a risk then they’ll get a second chance at romance.
I absolutely adored this book. K.Bromberg always delivers a book with all the feels and swoon worthy moments. And Luke! I loved him. He was funny, sweet & leaves you with a big smile on your face!
This book was a great read all around. It had the sexy and steamy. It had the lighthearted and meaningful moments, and just the right amount of angst. I would give this story a 4 stars and highly recommend to others. This is a stand-alone but its about the third Malone brother Grayson. I would recommend reading about his crazy sexy brothers as well in Cuffed (Grant’s story) and Combust (Grady’s story) as they will kind of set a picture for this book. I think this was actually my favorite story out of the 3 brothers.
Sidney made a mistake.. a huge one in her father’s eyes… he is after all her boss as well… when she gets sent to work on a magazine from her home town to prove her worth to her father she is not prepared for what will happen when she has to meet with Grayson Malone.. the poor kid from her past.. the one her and her group of friends seem to have made his life hell when they would go to the diner he worked in as a teenager.. but that was in the past and she is set out to show everyone including her father that she is not a princess they all think she is…
Grayson doesn’t date.. he has his job and his son that is all he needs in life… but when the job seems to be on the back burner because of a mistake he made he will find himself with time on his hands and with time old memories will come forward especially when a woman from his past comes stumbling into his life needing his help… it just makes him more angry and his current situation and he vows he will never give her the time of day.. he did it once with a girl like her and look what that got him…

K Bromberg has really outdone herself with this one. Worth the Risk is engaging from start to finish. I loved everything about this book. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about Sid as she’s very much entitled but she surprised me. She really stepped up and put others before her on multiple occasions. There’s no denying how sincere she was when it came to Grayson and Luke. While Grayson gave me some serious whiplash, I couldn’t help but love him. My heart ached for him and what he and Luke went through. He was driving me crazy with his mood swings since he clearly couldn’t make up his mind, but he was still so endearing all at the same time. While there were plenty of serious matters, I couldn’t help but burst with laughter at Luke and all the things that came out of his mouth. I love that kid and hope we can get more of him in the future. I thought this was an overall entertaining read and I look forward to reading more from K Bromberg in the future.
So cute.
I loved Grayson since the beginning and Luke was so adorable. But I didn’t like Sidney at the beginning. She was kinda selfish. Not because she was mean, cause she really wasn’t. I think she didn’t even know she was only think of herself, maybe because she got use to being alone, I don’t know.
But I like when something like that happens and the book shows how this character grow through the story. It was great to see her changing and it and I really root for this couple.
I love k. bromberg books and with this one wasn’t different.
Hands down my favorite Malone brother! From begining to end I was in love. Definitely one of the more emotional single dad books I’ve read
I’m a sucker for book boyfriends who are single dads. There’s just something about an alpha male raising a child on his own that makes be swoon and warms my heart more so than any other type of romance hero.
And let me tell you, Grayson Malone is one hot daddy!! So the fact that Sidney Thorton is drawn to him regardless of her aversion to anything even remotely related to having a family doesn’t surprise me nor does the ability of an 8 year old little boy to wrap her as well as everyone else around his finger as he shares his dreams for the one thing he’s always wanted – a new mommy.
The idea that first impressions stick is quite evident in the story because it’s Grayson’s preconceived notions of who Sidney is that makes it extremely difficult for Sidney to get on Grayson’s good side.
But despite Luke’s wishes and the evident attraction between Grayson and Sidney, the fact that Sidney reminds Grayson too much of the woman who broke his and his son’s heart is a huge roadblock for them, which means that unless Sidney can prove to Grayson that she’s not the privileged and stuck up girl she used to be, he won’t see her as worthy of a risk as big as the one he would take by making her a part of his son’s life as well as his own.
I know that some readers don’t really enjoy slow burn love stories, but I actually adore them, partly because, as a reader, I ‘m with the hero and heroine as they get to know one another, decide to act on their feelings, and then create a solid relationship despite a few bumps in the road. I also find these stories more satisfying because the amount of work and effort the couple puts into creating an ‘us’ is fully illustrated, proving that it becomes more about what they mean to each other than the sexual attraction they initially felt.
The Malone brothers are one delectable group of manly men; I seriously can’t choose between Grant, Grady, and Grayson because they all ooze masculinity, have professions that matter, and care for and protect their family and friends with all that they are. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading all three stories, but I have to say that little Luke stole the show and made Worth the Risk my favorite of the three!
4.5 Poison Apples
I only started reading K. Bromberg’s work last year (2017) and I have to tell you, the more I read, the more I fall in love with her voice and style. After finishing Worth the Risk I went back and finished purchasing every book I have not read yet from her back-list and I can’t wait to binge!
This single dad *swoon* enemies to lovers (maybe) romance journey will have you smiling and laughing one minute and feeling and swooning the next. It isn’t overly dramatic but also not tame. The conflict is underlying in the story. Grayson and Sydney have what I call individual conflict. Him trying to break thru the walls he’s put up due to his past relationship with his son’s mother and she pushing thru her own insecurities about herself. The biggest problem they have is Grayson sees too much about Sydney that reminds him of Luke’s mother. So he’s always pulling but the chemistry they both have pushes them together just as strongly. It’s a really sexy, push/pull, slow burn, sweet as all get out, journey. The build up of their relationship was on point. Little Luke stole my heart from the beginning and I just couldn’t stop smiling thru this entire book. WELL DONE!
Worth the Risk by K. Bromberg was a great Single Dad, High School Acquaintances romance with enemies to lovers feel to it. Grayson and Sidney were so enjoyable, their bantering and chemistry was the best. Who couldn’t love Grayson’s son Luke, he was such a smart, sweet kid. One of my favorite things about this series is the brother’s bond and bantering with each other. I can’t pick just one Malone brother they all have something I love about them and their partners are perfect for each brother.
Every book Kristy writes gets a little better than the last. Her writing is addicting and can’t wait to see what she writes next. Highly recommend this series and all of K. Bromberg’s books!!!
4.5 Stars!
When I went into this book, I had not read it’s two predecessors about our hero’s brothers. So, honestly, I had no idea what to expect other than the fantastic writing of K. Bromberg.
I loved it!
Grayson is a single dad (one of my favorite tropes) who was wronged by his ex years ago, but never really got over it. Sidney, who coincidentally used to know Grayson in high school, returns to the small town where she grew up after screwing up and being banished to fix her mistakes by her father. When these two reunite, it isn’t exactly happy. In fact, Grayson slams the door on Sidney’s face, literally.
This book is so good. Grayson and Sidney are complex and flawed and yet they will make you fall in love with them, even when you don’t really lie them at certain times. Bromberg kept the secondary characters in the background which allowed Sid and Gray’s relationship to grow organically. The plot is good – single dad, opposites attract with a side of redemption and growth. I loved Luke (Gray’s kid). His role in the book was perfect and a little heartbreaking.
A really great book that will make you swoon.
Worth the Risk had all the bones of a great story after all who doesn’t love a single dad who puts his child above all other, well this book was more than great this book was brilliant. This story had my emotions all over the place I had knots in my stomach and I loved it.
Grayson a rescue helicopter pilot is used to taking risks and facing danger in his job so why won’t he take some chances with his own life well the answer to that is simple his adorable little boy will always be his first priority and that means making sure no one gets close enough to maybe walk away and hurt them both down the track.
Sidney is a city girl who’s job is her number one priority and if moving to Sunnyville to take a step closer to her dream job is what she needs to do then so be it but what she didn’t expect was to fall in love with a small town, it’s nosey inhabitants and a single dad named Grayson and his adorable son.
Grayson’s story was the one I had been waiting for and it did not disappoint, I love Sunnyville and it’s small town America inhabitants, I love the friendships and the loyalty the characters share, the chemistry was sizzling and the attraction was instant but the queen of slow burn kept us on the edge of out seat throughout this beautifully written love story. Another 5 Star read from K.Bromberg author who never seems to disappoint.
I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for Grayson’s book since meeting him and his brother’s in Cuffed. I was dying to get to know him—something about that helicopter pilot/single dad lure that I knew would draw me in.
And draw me in he did! He’s an amazing, dedicated dad. Loves his family—tolerates the gentle (and not so gentle) ribbing and interference of his brothers and parent. And absolutely loves his job. He’s got it all, or so he thinks . . . until Sidney comes back into town.
Sidney’s a bit of an enigma. She grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth, and was the typical pretty, stuck up girl in high school. But she moved away ten years ago. And in ten years a whole lot can happen. And people can change. And Sidney has changed. Or so she’d like everyone to think. She just needs to prove it to her father, her boss and really herself, while resurrecting the magazine.
But if she can’t convince Grayson to be part of the Hot Dad contest, how will she really save the magazine and prove herself worthy of that coveted editor position?
So, straight up honesty here . . . I struggled Worth the Risk. I really liked Grayson and Sidney. But it took quite a while for them to grow on me as a couple. It took a while for me to really see them together. There was so much angst, so much disbelief and self-sabotage for them both. There were times when I really didn’t know if they’d end up together. But what saved things for me was their mutual adoration of Luke, Grayson’s son. That little scene stealer was the glue that really held it together for me. Where both Grayson and Sidney’s softer sides were shown in their interactions with Luke. And finally, I started to believe they’d have their HEA. But it took a bit.
And their relationship was definitely Worth the Risk.
