(previously titled: Worth the Risk)From New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg comes a new, sexy standalone about taking chances and finding love when it’s least expected. Or wanted. This whole contest was supposed to be easy. I know, I know. Famous last words. It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. … time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you’ve seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I’m successful, if I’m able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job.
But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number ten, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell?
Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen.
But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with baggage. Even ones with chiseled abs and killer smiles.
But he got to me. They got to me.He and his son and their messy, crazy life. But I got to him too. I see the stolen glances. I feel the walls he built start to crumble. I recognize that there’s an unexpected beauty to the chaos in his life.
And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months were just fun or if what we have is worth risking it all?

Worth the read!!!
Loved it. It wasn’t my favorite out of the three Everyday Hero series, but I still loved it.
Please read this series. It’s so touching and the Malone family is so beautiful. I wish I could be a Malone too.
Cockpit is the third book in the Everyday Heroes Series. Grayson and Sidney’s story is beautifully written. I loved it! This is a great second chance to love, and single Dad story. Grayson and Sidney are great together. Luke, Grayson’s son, is a beautiful character. Zachary Webber and Grace Grant did an outstanding job with the narration! Webber as Luke is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend this story and Series.
I absolutely love Grayson Malone. He is quite honestly the sexiest of sexy single dad I have read in a long time. The rescue flyer is up for the sexiest single dad in a magazine much to his dismay. Sidney is being punished and as a punishment her father has sent her to the small town where she grew up to take over a family magazine she has no interest in being a part of, but to prove she can be responsible Sidney much take this task on. She never thought running the Hot Dad contest would change her life forever but after meeting the gun shy single dad and his adorable son she is ready to make some changes.
HOT SINGLE Dad that sums up this story. Loved the characters.
Oh my gracious! First of all I would like to say that I am in love with Luke Malone. He is the sweetest 8 year old boy. The secondary characters were great and added to the story which made the store more than one demential. The push and pull between Grayson and Sydney was just right and not over the top annoying. Reading the blurb I didn’t think that I would like Sydney but I was so wrong. I loved her. She was so caring and just wanted to have Grayson as well as her father just see her for who she was and not who they thought she was. This his my first book by the author and I will definitely be reading more of her work. Until next time y’all happy reading.

This was the first book in this series that I heard and I really wanted to read it. Without a doubt, it was a sweet and tender story, in which we know Grayson Malone, a sexy single father, and a rescue pilot, and Sidney who made a mistake of work and for it, she promised to save one of their magazines, Hot Dad contest. They both knew each other from the past since Sidney had lived in Sunnyville, but their relationship was not very friendly, and now Grant was not going to give in to that blonde in her designer clothes and high heels.
What I liked most about the story was how it really showed the fragility of life and relationships. There was so much love in this story, but there was so much insecurity and doubt. Each character had parts of themselves that they needed to really focus on and decide how they would live for their future. In this, it allowed me to see more deeply into them, as characters.
The scenes with Luke are attractive, heartbreaking, and very funny. I laughed so many times with the innocent conversations of Luke that made both Grayson and Sydney feel uncomfortable, such as PS4 topics and issues that come to light at those ages.

Audiobook version:
I absolutely loved this book. Of the three brothers, Grayson was by far my favorite. We met and fell in love with his brothers in Cuffed and Combust by Grayson stole my heart here. He is the sexy Single dad we all drool over. The love between him and his son was absolutely heart melting. I loved his story!
The narration was fantastic. Clean editing, Great performance! Would absolutely listen to these narrators again in a heartbeat.
I was really waiting for Grayson’s book and I’m glad it’s finally here. For me it was a bit of a slow beginning but it picked up. I definitely enjoyed Grayson and Sidney’s story. And who doesn’t love a great single dad’s book? 🙂
When Sidney screws up another chance at her dad’s company, he sends her to Sunnyville to try and get the figures back up for one of his magazines. She takes this opportunity to change but what she doesn’t see coming is Grayson. He still sees her as this little Princess who has all the money in the world. But is she really all that?… Grayson is a single dad after his ex left him to raise his son on his own. He’s doing a great job but he still feels like he could do better. When Sidney comes back into his life, he doesn’t think highly of her since she wasn’t very nice to him when they were in high school growing up. And when she shows up to his doorstep to announce he’s in one of the last rounds of the Hot single dad’s competition, he doesn’t believe his ears. With a lot of convincing he finally accepts the challenge. Even though they’re spending more and more time together, he doesn’t believe she’s changed at all. He keeps her at a distance and especially doesn’t let her get too close to his son but somewhere down the line feelings change. Will he keep his walls up and let his past define him or will he finally open up his heart for love again and take a risk?
Pulls the heart strings. Old wounds between Grayson and Sidney make communication difficult for both of them, but in the end they make it work. Yes, there is a happy ending.
Worth the Risk brings us the next Malone brother and I have to say I was dying to read Grayson’s story. Grayson is the middle of our hot trio of hero’s in the Malone family, a medivac helicopter pilot and a single father to an adorable 8 year old named Luke.
Sydney at first is painted as a high society girl, wanting for nothing and a career driven take no prisoners kind of woman. However I really liked Sydney she was loyal to her best friend in her time of need even if it brought sacrifices upon herself. Sydney is driven yes but she will pick up the workload so others can enjoy their family time, she knows what’s important to those around her and she has a big heart, one that has started beating for Grayson and Luke.
Grayson is a man with a huge heart, damaged and hating his hero complex, the mother of his son Luke (Claire) really did a number on him and several years later he still struggles with the battlescars she left behind. The moments between Luke and Grayson were some of my favourites and is one common element across several of Kristy’s books – she sure knows how to write a doting father figure!
I really enjoyed how Sydney and Grayson’s relationship developed whilst adding the complication of trying not to confuse a very sweet 8 year old boy. It was written realistically, I believed their ups and downs. One moment had me in tears and others rolling my eyes in frustration and the next laughing out loud.
Overall worth the risk was a well written, charming story about a single dad and his son figuring out if there is room in their lives for love. Another great Kristy Bromberg book for me!
Oh my I love love love this book!!!
What a tempting read that has you rooting for the single dad to get the girl to heal his hardened hart. This is a book Worth the Risk.
K. Bromberg most definitely saved the best for last!!! Worth The Risk is everything I wanted and more. I’ve been anxiously waiting to read Grayson’s story and it was well worth the wait.
Grayson and Sydney’s story is a well written, sweet and contemporary romance. Of course this would not be a K. Bromberg story without some angst. There were also passionate, sizzling and steamy moments between Grayson and Sydney to which I truly enjoyed. I fell in love with both of them immediately as their story is heartwarming and geniune. I have to say that my favorite character is Grayson’s son, Luke. This little boy just stole my heart and I adored his character.
Worth The Risk is a definite must read!!!
I’ve been looking forward to this book since first meeting Grayson and let’s just say he did not disappoint.
I was not a fan of Sidney in the beginning, but as the story progressed I fell for her and was completely rooting for her at the end.
The chemistry between Sidney and Grayson was undeniable. I fell in love with their relationship. Grayson has been hurt by someone who grew up with the same privileges on Sidney and he didn’t want to let anyone in, especially someone like Sidney. Thankfully, his adorable 8 year old son Luke had other plans.
Luke absolutely stole my heart. His relationship with his father is amazing and lovely and just everything. I love how he instantly connected with Sidney.
This story made me laugh, cry and yell. Its another great book by K.Bromberg!
Now first off, the cover doesn’t match the first two in the series. And I get why the author changed, although honestly, since there was the hot dad contest that Grayson was in, the original cover would still have worked in my opinion. I have to say after reading/listening to this one though, it is probably my favorite. And the reason for that is that Luke, Grayson’s 8 year old son, totally steals the story/show/book. He made me cry whenever he asked his dad about getting him a mom, made me laugh with his talk about innies and outies, and I smiled so much when he asked Sidney to go the picnic with him and his grandma. In fact I was a little disappointed that the little epilogue didn’t actually have him in it really.
It took a bit of time, almost halfway through the book before we got into any steamy stuff though, but once we did, it was the usual good stuff from this author. Even when Grayson and Sidney tried to keep telling each other it was only a sexual/friends with benefits relationship, you could tell how much each wanted more than that. I was so mad that Sidney never said anything about how if she helped save this magazine she’d be getting her own magazine to run. Although I feel like Grayson should have realized that. And in a way, he did, only he was just assuming she was just like his ex and would leave. But then when she showed in so many ways that she was different from his ex, he made me so mad for not giving her a chance! For not asking her to stay, for not telling her that he chose her!
As much as I loved Luke, and that he totally made the book over the top perfect for me, I also feel like we got so much more interaction with all three of the Malone brothers in this book. Not that we didn’t have them before, but I just feel like this one had more of them. The three of them together was so much fun. I loved how they teased and tortured one another. Of course you have to adore their mother and how she just wants to get all her boys hooked up. But then I loved how his father really was a great influence in this one. I also like how Sidney’s father was at the end too.
Such a great wrap-up to such a great series, but a series of standalones, that can be read in any order and as far apart as you want. Although if you get the time, and you can, I’d suggest listening/reading them all right in a row!
Worth the Risk is DEFINITELY a book that is worth the risk if you have never read any of K. Bromberg’s books! It is a funny, frustrating, heartbreaking, sweet cry of a story.
Grayson Malone is a hero…but don’t ask him or he’ll tell you different. His biggest fan is his 8 year old son, Luke. Being both a single dad and a medieval pilot brings along a lot of responsibility, stress, and baggage.
Sidney Thorton is back in her hometown trying to right a wrong career move when she realizes that that one wrong move might have been the rightest wrong she ever made.
I knew that I was going to love this story but I didn’t realize that I was going to LOVE this story! Grayson was frustrating but he had his reasons and I can’t fault him for feeling the way that he did. Of course, a little communication would have helped but then we wouldn’t have all the angst that we love to hate, right? Sidney…I know that some would say that she was selfish and entitled and while I kind of see that I more so saw where she had grown up some and while she still had her moments, she wasn’t the same girl with a silver spoon in her hand that she was in high school. Then we have Luke. Oh. My. Goodness. How anyone wouldn’t fall right in love with him I will never know. He is 8 and while he knows he is loved by his dad, there is nothing like a mother’s love and he longs for it. He broke my heart and he made me literally laugh out loud.
This may just be the best book I’ve read this year so far. <3
I love me some single dads. It’s actually one of my top 5 to read. I honestly can’t get enough of these Malone men. This has been another great series. I only had one small issue, not a huge one, but I hate to say it but… Grayson kinda drove me batty! I wanted to spork his eye out and tell him to knock it off! Omg he was such a jerk throughout most of the book. I know he’s protecting his son and has baggage galore, blah, blah, blah. But holy moly cow, go Sidney for putting up with all that. Obviously they were both worth it but man, that dude was stubborn. Besides that, it really was a great story and I do recommend reading it.
For me, this is one of the best Single Dad book I have read in a very long time and my favorite of the series. I love the story line and all the emotions that played out with Grayson, Sidney and Luke, it sure grabs your heart. Kate Bromberg did a outstanding job with this book.
Sidney comes from a wealthy family, but she knows how to work for something that she wants. But then she missed an important meeting. Not a good thing as she is aiming for her dream job. Now she has to prove to her dad that she is capable of being the fashion editor for one of her dads magazines. Now she is back in her hometown and running a contest to find the next Hottest Dad. Which bring her to Grayson Malone. His brothers entered him into the competition and now he is being a tad bit difficult about being in the contest. But also because he wants nothing to do with her. He remembers her as being a spoilt, selfish rich little girl. And he has had his fill of those types. But she isn’t that person anymore… right!!
Grayson Malone is a single dad who is raising his son all by himself. He’s wife left him and their new born baby because she didn’t want to let go of her trust fund (can you say biatch) and now Sydney is back and he is not making the same mistake again. No matter how sexy and hot she is and no matter how much he wants her in his bed. He can’t take that risk of hurting his son or his own heart
I really enjoyed this story, but I sometimes wanted to smack Grayson for how he treated Sydney. I loved Sydney she was determined and ready to make this a success and she would do whatever it takes. But when it came down to it she took the risk of loosing everything to get the one thing she wanted, Grayson. And man Grayson’s son Luke was so cute. All he wanted was a mommy. Loved it
Once again Kristy Bromberg slays me! The way she creates characters and places them in our lives, so they become part of who we are is nothing short of remarkable. When I read her books, I know I am going to lose myself in the words, find myself in tears, laugh out loud and feel the rapid beating of my heart . . . and not stop until I have read the very last word.
Worth The Risk continues the story of the Malone brothers. They are close as siblings can be. Each have their passions, but they personally a carry an overload of pain, and despair.
Grayson is everything you would want in a father. Loyal, loving, compassionate, dedicated and fun. His son is the best part of him. Yet, he’s been hurt, bruised and left alone to raise the funniest, cutest and sweetest little boy ever.
Sydney Thornton pretty much screwed up, and now she must pay her penance. She must be the best of the best to get to where she wants to be. Living in small town America has never been her dream, more like a nightmare. But being Daddy’s little girl isn’t always a smooth as it seems.
And then there is Luke. He steals your heart, he breaks your heart and imbeds himself in your soul. There are things he wants, and he sets out on a one-man mission to obtain the unobtainable. He’s truly the hero in this book.
There is something about family that sets the tone for K. Bromberg. She can write about family, make you feel as though you are a part of the family and show the greatest thing about love is family. Throughout this book I laughed, shed a few tears, laughed some more and cheered on the antics of an 8-year-old little boy. He is so much the joy in this story.
Kristy, I hate to see this book end, because as with all your other series, I have become so invested in this family. The anguish of losing someone close is what I always go through when your series ends.
I can never give you less than five stars, because you never deserve less than five stars.
