I’m a big, big fan of this author. Her books are smart and funny, steamy and swoony and always utterly perfect. I devour these books as quickly as I can and then always go back for re-reads.
Jordan and April’s book is no different as Kate’s ability to tell a story is incomparable. There’s mystery, love, funny and sweet moments that will keep you turning the pages.
I am a true lover of Kate’s work and the story of Jordan and April was fabulous .
Jordan Kaisall is a former Navy Seal that is now running a successful security company with his friend Wil. He is in Montauk getting a weekend of much needed R&R . A rough start to his morning he finds himself lying on the beach after a battle with rough waves. April is collecting shells when in the distance she finds a man eyes closed laying on the beach . This is their story!
They have an immediate attraction but April is offering to assist Jordan with his old knee injury with her use of acupuncture and massage. He immediately is enthralled with her sense of wellbeing and caring nature but is in no position to start a relationship. Jordan decides that he can not stay away and shows up at her studio for therapy and realizes that he wants so much more. It is a whirlwind weekend that leads him caught up and confused . He soon realizes that April has many talents and secrets . The truth may be more than each of them can withstand . I truly loved revisiting WIl and Shannon but Coastal Elite can certainly be read as a stand alone in the this series!

100% spoiler-free book review
This book is a spin-off of the Cornerstone, one of the books of The Walsh series. Kate Canterbary is gifted for unusual badass heroines and surprising heroes. This spy romance is unexpected, for the least, nothing like James Bond or John le Carré, and it held my breath until the end.
I read most of the book only once, but Kate Canterbary’s stories are my exception because the second time, I love the book even more. There are many levels of appreciation, and I always discover new ones.
It can be read as a stand-alone. Still, I highly recommend reading The Cornerstone and Missing In Action, in which Jordan appears.
Didn’t like either of the mains. April, nothing about her was decent and he was a jerk who couldn’t think past his crotch. Sorry. Much of the dialogue was absurd. No.
**4.5 Stars**
Where do I even start with this book? I loved everything about Jordan and April’s characters. Kate did an amazing job at describing them and bringing them to life. I was sad when the book ended because I couldn’t put it down. I’m already craving for more of Jordan, so I hope we get to see bits and pieces of him again soon. This can be read as a standalone, it mentions characters from the Walsh Family series, but I felt this was entirely a standalone book.
Jordan is a former SEAL and Will’s business partner (You meet Will in the Walsh Family series, so if you wanted read those and you want to fall in love with him, go read those next). When he returns home from an international trip to his girlfriend in a comprising position with someone who isn’t him, he knows he has problems. What he doesn’t realize is that this is the beginning to something he didn’t know he needed. After being told that he needs some time away, he heads to his property in Montauk to relax for the weekend and see his “brother” Will and his family. This is where things get interesting and Jordan’s life will change in a way he didn’t know he needed.
April has to be the most eclectic character (besides Tiel) I think Kate has written and I LOVED her. There was this mysterious side to her I wanted to know more about and when you find out? Woah. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I love how she was with Jordan though. She didn’t let him go all “alpha” on her. Their relationship wasn’t what I’d call typical l and I think that’s why I loved them together even more.
I loved Kate’s ability to bring Will and Shannon (plus Froggie) into the story as well. I was laughing out loud over nicknames Will would give people and they added to the story in a way that gave you the pieces of Jordan you’ve wanted since Will became his business partner. I can’t wait to see what else Kate brings to us. All I know is I will be one-clicking them as soon as they are available.
First time reading this author. Not a lot of books make me say WOW, but this one did. I don’t usually go for the spy/military/security angle, but I gave this a try and I’m glad I did. Interesting, and sexy, and fast-paced. Took me a day or two to really get into it, but once I did, I could barely put it down.
I love that it was from Jordan’s POV, and we get an epilogue from April, because most books I read are the other way around. I’m onto her Walsh series next. I’ve heard great things.
What a story! I loved the fact that is is from Jordan’s POV throughout and his inner monologue is to die for! I would say that this book is Walsh adjacent, it’s has some characters from the Walsh series and we met Jordan in the Cornerstone (Walsh 4). There is a plot twist that is exciting and some surprises that if you love Walshes you will love this! This is a fresh new story and Kate doesn’t disappoint in the least!
Well that was a heck of a twist for a conflict! #genius
I love this woman’s voice people! The stories are just so damn engaging and exciting and she can write some serious sexy sexy *fans self* !!!!
There were a few stones i wished weren’t left unturned or maybe expanded on a little more but, man … Kate Canterbary can deliver one heck of a read!
I just absolutely loved this story! April and Jordan were quite the pair. The twist in the middle definitely surprised me, but I really enjoyed that extra element being added to the story. And of course, getting to spend some time with Will & Shannon…..I won’t ever turn that opportunity down!
Kate Canterbary is one of my favorite authors. This is the story of a minor character from her incredible Walsh book series. I hope she will write more about this group of friends in the future!!
This is a great mix of romance and suspense. I liked Jordan and April and really enjoyed their story.
