From New York Times bestselling author Shanora Williams comes a brand new standalone forbidden sports romance about an ambitious college track student and a tough, brooding track coach who is about to meet his match…When I met Amber Lakes, I had no idea that she’d become a shining star in my dark, miserable life. Her smile was never supposed to warm my heart, and the sight of her tears was never … sight of her tears was never supposed to make me want to hunt down the person who’d caused them.
We were never supposed to touch, or kiss, or do so many dirty things on campus that I knew could jeopardize my career…
None of it was supposed to happen because she’s the student – my athlete – and I’m her college track coach.
I could lose everything by being with her, but I’ve fallen too damn hard, and despite how big the risks are, it’s too late to turn back now.

I live for this woman’s forbidden words!!!!
When you find out Shanora is writing a Forbidden romance you just know whatever it’s about you will love it.
I read it and loved it so so much. My poor heart.. It was the most perfect love story ever!!!
Coach Torres. Where to begin with that gorgeous man.. He was a little bit of a hard ass but deep down you know there’s a reason for him being like that and that he’s got a sweeter side. I loved him so so much.
Amber I freaking loved her. What she went through at college because of certain people and how they treated her.. One person in particular needed to be drop kicked in her hoo-ha because she was horrible.
I literally laughed in parts, swoon ohh sooo much and had the odd sad and happy tear because I loved the ending so much.
Well done Shanora on another amazing read #TorresAndAmberAreAbsoluteLife
I feel compelled to write this review with appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Shanora Williams for writing what I consider one of my favorite stories of 2020! Her writing was realistic, relevant and personally relatable, not to mention scorching interactions between the two main characters added to the allure. I loved this book!
The cultural and societal portrayal in Coach Me conveys so much that has touched me in more ways than one! You see, when I read stories such as this, which are rare by the way, not only do I feel validated but I’m inspired to convey how timely and pertinent many of the topics Shanora wrote about have been and still are today. I love the way she described these characters without stereotyping and yet not sugar coating anything.
Amber was such an endearing young woman of 19. I could literally feel the loss in her life, her dedication and commitment to honor her father and her own determination to achieve her athletic goals. On a personal note, at one point while reading one of her monologues I shed a tear and felt a connection that’s hard to describe. She displayed poise and grace in a dignified manner no matter what and as she opened up her eyes to realities of the world she never grew jaded. Even when dealing with those that despised her she managed to project strength and endurance. She evolved in so many ways and never lost herself. I loved her relationship with her two best friends and especially with her mother. Her relationship with Joaquin was two sided and somewhat complicated but she persevered.
Joaquin was aloof and broody as a coach. He was a complicated man with secrets he held close to the vest. He had experienced a difficult situation in his young life and carried it with him making it difficult for him to be open and accepting. He was drawn to Amber but knew he had to maintain a level of professionalism and commitment in his position as coach. His was conflicted yet drawn in a way he couldn’t deny and with which he had to come to terms.
I know there will be a few readers that may feel a little uncomfortable with the subject matter as well as some of the experiences of the characters in the story but I also hope that in that, they’ll realize the relevance of Shanora’s words. I’m hopeful that the experiences and backgrounds of these characters as skillfully written as they are will open minds and hearts because Amber and Joaquin were phenomenal not only for all they went through, how they evolved and followed their hearts but for their swoon worthy chemistry! I highly recommend this book!
This story is so much more that a forbidden student / coach scenario. Amber is a freshman and Torres is the track coach, and these two are drawn to each other. My heart broke for Amber and the challenges and diversity that she had to overcome which sadly in todays’ society is still happening. No spoilers: this is a must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a beautifully written flawless story which is filled with drama, angst, secrets, emotion, and love which all had me enthralled throughout this riveting tale. I am a huge fan of this gifted author, and my word she has once again penned a tale which is an addictive, all-consuming and heartfelt story which is relatable and realistic. I highly recommend for all readers. In my opinion, this is the best story I have read this year!
