What happens when Silas, the hot-headed lead singer of world famous rock band Trojan, crosses paths with the sassy and blunt Pansy, who’s not a fan? Clutch is a rock romance full of humor, banter, drama, angst, romance, steam and heart that left me wanting much much more! I can’t wait to read Reverb, Book 2 of the Trojan series.
Clutch
By: S.M. West
Narrated by: Jacob Morgan, Callie Dalton
I love a book that hooks you from the first scene! As soon as Pansy “met” Silas, I couldn’t stop listening. These two met under the most unusual of circumstances, and this chance meeting changed their lives. Silas is a rock star and he is tired of the limelight. Pansy is the person who cannot find her niche and is searching for it. Together, they find exactly what they are looking for. Silas is a great character. He is not your typical rock star, and he gives all the feel good vibes to the story. For me, Pansy is a joy. While she is unsettled, she is optimistic and I love that about her. The supporting cast is fantastic, each giving the story a little more angst and advice. It’s a fun listen and the ending left me completely satisfied!
Callie Dalton and Jacob Morgan are wonderful cast as Pansy and Silas. Dalton is a seasoned narrator, and she is able to fill Pansy’s personality with a uniqueness that fits her. Morgan plays the rock star with that confidence that he can give, yet he adds that edgy vulnerability so it’s easy to love him. I love this team and look forward to more of them together.

Pansy is such a lovely character – positive in all ways, always trying to find the bright side. She is so unappreciated by her sisters because she isn’t like them. Silas has lived the life of a rock star but now he’s ready for something different. They are a wonderful example of two people who are very different complementing each other and supporting each other through some pretty hard, emotional situations. This is a great series.
I received a free Advance Review Copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
The Upside of Hitting a Pothole
I couldn’t put it down! Pansy seems flighty at first but she’s lost and searching for her place in the world. Silas is arrogant with some anger issues. Together, they are magnificent! They are playful, dirty, supportive, and they ground each other in the best ways.
Oh, I should also mention that they are occasionally insatiable! And let us not forget the power of hitting a “good” pothole and how that led to their not-so-cute meeting. Marvelous! Just marvelous! (PSA: Please don’t try that at home! Sync your Bluetooth before driving.)
I read and listened to this book. Callie Dalton and Jacob Morgan did a really good job bringing the characters to life.
I’d already fallen in love with Trojan when I listened to Reverb so it’s no surprise that I would fall for this book. Yes, I did enjoy them out of order. I prefer, and recommend, reading them in order. While there are a few things spoiled, going out of order was OK.
Story: 5 stars
Narration: 4 stars
This story was beyond my imagination! IT was so good and reflected what a lot of us are imagining is just perfection at its finest but with a bit of drama and burn that we all need! It is that feeling that when you receive a taste of it; you want it, ACHE FOR IT! Yes you all know of what I speak! This is that book! I swear that S. M. will transform you into this beast of coveted craving! Oh YES! Silas and Pansy, how do I say this…PERFECTION meets AMBITIOUS ASPIRATION! Nough’ Said! Thank you S.M.!
So I started this series with the third book, and halfway through, I thought I wished I could read it from the beginning and then got lucky to read them all. Score!!
Pansy has to be one of my top female characters to read about. Her vulnerability and her thoughts of how she fits in her family dynamics make you connect with her. Her feelings of inadequacy make your heart soften, but you cannot help but cheer for her when she starts to exert herself.
Silas grew on me because I just thought he was a tool, but as you read about him and learn his story, you understand.
I read and reviewed a copy of this book.
This is the first book in the Trojan Series. Silas and Pansy’s journey is interesting, sweet, sexy, and fun. I like their first meet. They complement each other. Their journey is filled with drama, angst, and ups and downs. The ending is beautiful. Callie Dalton and Jacob Morgan did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to Reverb, Jared and Eva’s story, the next book in the Series.
Silas and Pansy’s journey to happily ever after is sweet, sexy, and fraught with family tensions and hard decisions. I loved the slow burn storyline with just the right amount of angst. The characters are a fantastic mix and I’m very much looking forward to reading about the next band member. Clutch is the first book in the exciting Trojan series and you won’t want to miss it! Great narrators too!
I absolutely loved this book. We got Silas, famous rock star who’s trying to find his own identity after years in a band, and Pansy, who is trying to find her own identity through lots of trial and error in the shape of failed relationships and career choices. They meet by chance and decide not to fight the obvious attraction they have for each other. The story spans over the course of several months, so we get lots of time to witness their growing relationship, and also the way it fits into each other’s lives. I loved the way it all flowed, it really kept me invested till the very end. I also loved the secondary characters, they really fit in with the rest of the story. Silas and Pansy are so hot together, so, so hot, you can seriously feel their chemistry coming off the page. And that’s without very many sexy scenes, which can only be a testament to how well the story is actually written. I will admit that the ending felt a little abrupt, but it redeemed itself with the very cute epilogue
This is the beginning of a great new series. I enjoyed the story. The characters are a bit of a struggle at first. I thought that their anger/blow ups at each other would be too much. I wanted them to have some self respect and just forget the other party. But it was nice to see these two grow and find out what is actually behind their anger.
As for the band members. I predictably disliked Jared but the other two seemed cool. Even Jared was able to change his spots a bit and become a better guy. Pansy’s sisters were the ones you love to hate. They each have a haughty attitude and think lowly of Pansy. But again they change their spots in regard to her.
Overall I liked the book. The author took us on a journey that is a bit different and has all kinds of ups and downs. There is a lot of things that happen between these two MC as well as the larger circle they surround themselves with. Multiple times I wanted to shake Pansy and tell her to open her eyes. Because I couldn’t I was able to see her as a different type of female character. She doesn’t act or respond like a normal female would so I would have missed that. I look forward to seeing Jared’s tale and where it will take me.
I did listen to this on audio. Jacob Morgan did good on his parts. Callie Dalton is new to me and I thought she did good as well since she did the majority of the book.
Clutch by S.M. West is a standalone and you won’t be able to put it down!
‘It’s too easy to be trapped in the confines of the past , whether it’s the pigeonhole your family or friends put you in or some notion you bestow on yourself . We all have the ability to break free, and sometimes, all it takes is someone telling you that you can.’ – Pansy
I loved Clutch from start to finish. This is more than just your typical rockstar romance and I was gutted when it ended because I became so involved in Pansy and Silas’ journey of self discovery and finding love when you least expect it. SM West shows what it means to love someone unconditionally and support them in following their dreams. There’s nothing I didn’t like about this couple and I’m so glad that SM West allowed us to join them on their journey. I was able to sympathise with Pansy who felt like she didn’t meet the expectations of her sisters and was determined to prove them wrong after being made to feel like she’d failed yet again. As for Silas, I feel his unexpected anger and outbursts were a result of at least dealing with anxiety, which was caused by the negative relationship he had with his parents. However, SM West shows how seeking professional help can be a positive experience.
“Yes. You’re following your heart. Just because you don’t get it right on the first try doesn’t make you a failure. You have courage and that alone tells me that you’re going to succeed, and when you do, you’ll be a rock star in your field. I just know it.” – Silas
Whilst this is a standalone, I feel there is scope for it to be developed into a series and I hope that SM West gives each of Silas’ band mates the opportunity to tell their own stories. Will Jared be able to face his own demons and leave the path of self destruction? Will Eli find love after going through so much and becoming a single parent? Is Gray really the silent type or is he holding out on us? Then there’s Pansy’s sisters, Ivy and Daisy who I need to know more about. Also, let’s not forget about Pansy’s other sister, Poppy, who we know very little about as she’s mentioned in this book but we don’t actually get to meet her. And lastly, there’s Bianca who shows her vulnerability when faced with a past decision she made that could end her career if it were made public.

Such a great story! A chance meeting brings Silas and Pansy together, even if she did almost run him over. Their lives are never the same. Working through their own issues, they learn that together they can get through anything. Silas’ relationship with his parents will break your heart. Pansy will stand up to anyone and you will cheer her on every time. I loved reading this book!!
She was always being called clutch by her family so she lacks a case and leaves home. It is almost over before it could begin and he helps her. He is a famous star. He wants to get away and he has all his plans sorted. Falling in Love should be simple. No! It is anything but easy. Follow them as they try to be who they want to be

I found this book to be a very enjoyable and entertaining read with the good storyline and well defined characters which kept me glued to my kindle from the very beginning! The chemistry between Pansy and Silas was off the charts and I had a very hard time putting this book down to go to bed!
Oh my, I loved this! An intense and so passionate story, Silas and Pansy simply took over my senses from the beginning! Pansy is very compassionate and loving, a girl in a million. My favorite kind of heroine. As for Silas? He is one sexy rockstar redeemed by the love and soothing presence of his soul mate. I am not usually in to rockstar romances but this one is a keeper!

Great slow burn romance!
Everything in life has it place. You don’t have to have your life figure out immediately. Following your dreams even against expectations from your family doesn’t mean you’re the failure. The story-line build around accidental meeting of two main characters slowly burn into intense relationship. The true love that came unexpectedly. I felt instantly connected to the characters and was immersed by their romance. This book has all I’m looking for in a good read: drama, angst, action, twists and turns that are unforeseen, swoon worthy hero, sexy scenes and the great ending.
This was an intense, heart-warming love story that will give you hope til the very end. I enjoyed way more that I actually thought I would.
I voluntarily read a copy of this book from Booksprout.
This slow burn romance has plenty of emotion and sweetness. Silas and Pansy are such opposites but that does nothing to lessen the pull of attraction or the sparks their chemistry generate. I loved the emotions in this book. They were intense, deep, powerful and often poignant. A beautiful romance that is exceptionally engaging and entertaining.
I’ve read previous work of this author and for me, this is her best book to date. The way it was written captivate me to read further and glad I did. It is a heartwarming story about a woman trying to prove her self-worth to people who belittle her. And a rock star looking for someone who will love him as him and not the lead singer of a rock group. I enjoyed every minute I spent reading the story of Pansy and Silas! Thank you, Author S.M. West for writing a beautiful story!
Pansy and Silas don’t exactly meet in the best of circumstances but neither can deny the spark. I loved the chemistry and genuine affection between the characters. Pansy felt much younger than her 27 years and sometimes I wanted to give her a shake, other times I wanted to give her a hug. Silas was the kind of flawed character I am drawn to in books and he didn’t disappoint.
It’s a great, easy read and I hope we get books for the other band members because they definitely have me intrigued.
