HarperI fell in love when I was sixteen. Landon was my entire world and I thought he would be my forever. But I was young and dumb, and with one error in judgement, I destroyed any chance of a future we could’ve had together, along with our hearts.Twelve years later and I’m going through the motions of life, but not actually living. Which is why I let my friends, Bridget and Simon, set me up on a … set me up on a blind date. Turns out, it’s not so blind after all. Because the man sitting in front of me is the same man who’s held onto my heart all these years.
Landon
They call me a Clutch Player because I’m good under pressure and quick on my feet. I was also quick to fall in love. The first time it was with baseball, the second was with Harper. And for a short time I had them both.
Until I lost Harper and all I had left was baseball.
For years, I focused on my career. I had accepted that baseball was my one true love.
Until I saw her again. I never imagined we’d ever get a second chance, but now that she’s sitting right across from me, I know there’s no way in hell I’m going to let her go again.

Landon and Harper gave me all the feels. I loved the second chance aspect in this specific story line more than a little bit. This is the exact type of story I adore.
Clutch Player is part of the Cocky Hero Club and inspired by British Bedmate. I haven’t read Simon and Bridget’s story, but it was still fun seeing them be supporting friends to Harper, and then Landon.
If you like second chance, single parent and sports romance, I think you will LOVE Clutch Player. Harper and Landon’s story is full of ups and downs and gave me all the feels. It is everything that second chance romance should be. My favorite part is how wonderful Landon is with Harper’s kids. Some parts are definitely going to make you swoon!
Of course I went into this not knowing anything about it, except that it was about a baseball player. Spoiler alert…. I don’t care for sports romances. But it’s a Nikki Ash book, so who cares what it’s about, I knew I was gonna read it anyways.
If I could of read this in one sitting, I would have, because it’s that kind of book. It’s the kind that gets you sucked in and you instantly fall in love. You instantly connect to the characters and you can’t wait to see what happens. I’m glad it took me a few days, because it let everything I read, sit and my heart was able to come to terms with it all. I honestly don’t think I could of fallen in love with this book anymore than I already did.
Harper and Landon’s story are the best example of life being a capital D with a side of ick, sucking it up, rolling with the punches and coming back strong. One choice… that’s all it takes to change the course of your life. The life you thought you would live, can all disappear with that one choice. But that doesn’t mean you can’t eventually get that happily ever after with who you want. Life took them on each different journeys. Built them to be better people, all to come back to one another and it be beautiful.
I shouldn’t be surprised that NIkki has graced us with another brilliantly beautiful book, because she’s damn good at that, but I will say I’m surprised with just how fast I got into it and loved it. It’s taken a lot for me to get into books lately, but apparently my heart was waiting for this to connect with. It definitely pulled me out my slump and has me wanting to read all the words. She’s swept me off my feet once again.
Awesome, beautiful, heartbreaking but oh so yummy…
This book brought me to tears made me smile made me want to punch someone growl in frustration and melt …. another absolutely beautifully written book by Nikki Ash that I couldn’t put down but that’s nothing unusual with Nikki’ s books she is one talented author definitely a book to read …
Loved this book! A second chance romance of high school sweethearts Landon and Harper. Has an amazingly cute storyline and a perfect happily ever after!
Clutch Player is part of the Cocky Hero Club which is inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s British Bedmate. You don’t have to have read British Bedmate to enjoy this one but if you have you’ll love that Simon and Bridget pop up in this one.
Harper fell in love with Landon is high school but things didn’t go the way hey planned. We get to see a little of their past which leads up to where they are today. I loved Harper. It’s hard not to feel bad for her at some times but she’s a strong character and has done good in her life. Landon went off to be a pro baseball player now he’s helping his brother coach a camp. They are is the same town but their paths don’t cross until Simon and Bridget step in and set them up on a blind date. They still have a connection. As they get to know each other again, Harper’s ex is a little pesty and Landon has a secret he’s keeping. This one had me hooked from beginning to end. I was only going to read a chapter or two before bed but I ended up saying up until I finished the story.
Boy and girl fall in love.
Girl makes mistake.
A second chance.
Sometimes everything happens for a reason and it makes it that much sweeter!
I cannot tell you how much I loved this book!
Landon is sooooo swoony!
I think he might be one of my favorite male characters of Nikki Ash’s.
Harper is a single mom that is so strong and such a fantastic mother.
When these two collide, it’s magic!
Everyone should definitely read this!
There is so much to say about this book. It is absolutely wonderful and the perfect combo of all my favorite things. Landon and Harper’s second chance story is amazingly sweet and will have you hooked from page one.
In. Love.
This story spans quite some time, beginning when both the characters are in high school. I totally fell in love with Landon before Harper did. Harper is seriously a great person, but she always seemed a bit blinded to those around her. She let a lot of people have a piece of her heart when they didn’t deserve it and proved over and over they would ruin it. Landon was definitely not a person like that, so when he appeared on the scene I totally swooned.
Grown up, Harper waited far too long (in my opinion) to ditch those people around her that weren’t treating her well. Once she did, though, it opened her back up to seeing how she should be treated. Not to mention she finally gets some friends that are good to her.
I don’t think I have the words to share how the story made me feel. I seriously ran the gambit of emotions and truly fell in love with the characters and their world. I don’t know how she does it, but I basically lose myself in every Nikki Ash story. This was another example of that. The story balances loss and love well, and it gives a real depiction of how life can knock you down, but the right people can make it worth it.
Read it. You won’t regret it. (Then after you read it, you’ll be getting ALL THE BOOKS from Nikki Ash — trust me.)
“There’s a reason they call me a clutch player …” I waggle my eyebrows playfully. “Just when you think all hope is lost, I swoop in and change up the game.”
I absolutely loved this book. I am a big sucker for second chance romances and this one did not disappoint. I am a big fan of Nikki and have read all of her books. I highly recommend that you read this book and her other ones as well.
This book was absolutely amazing!! I literally read it in less then a few hours and couldn’t put it down I NEEDED to know what was going to happen next for Harper. My heart hurt for everything that went wrong between her and Landon, and all the struggles that they had to go through. I felt so bad for the many years that they lost because of everything. But in the end you just know that they are meant to be because of the instant chemistry you can feel between them both right from the start. I definitely recommend reading this book it was so good and I couldn’t put it down.
Landon and Harper has a teenage love that should have lasted a life time. But when he gets drafted to play baseball and leaves her behind their shot at happiness crumbles. One night will change Harper’s course and her life will never be the same. Flash forward 12 years and you find Harper a divorced single mother of two and Landon a retired baseball great. Can one blind date put the couple back together again? Or will it only prove that their love was never supposed to last? There is nothing better than romance and baseball and it is even made better with the second chance at happiness thrown in. With beautifully written characters and a heartwarming storyline this was a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club series.
A second chance romance. For London it is a chance to get the girl for Harper it is to make her dreams come true. She gave it up for the man she loves to realize his dreams. A broken heart that lasted 12 years. Now they both have. A chance to make things right to pick the pieces of their hearts and fulfill their dreams.
This is a feel good story, perfect for the way our world is right now. A book that will fill the time with tears, excitement and love. Passionate and funny this book packs it all in. Nikki Ash gives us a first and last love romance to add to the Cocky Hero Series
Landon and Harper were amazing!!!! They were friends in high school while she dated someone else. Her boyfriend was the worse and Landon was always there for her. Long story short she got rid of Richie and her and Landon started dating. But he was destined for bigger things and she didn’t want to hold him back. They both loved each other so much, things happened that changed everything and they carried on with their lives. Fast forward 12 and a half years later and they are each other’s blind date. When Landon saw her he knew it was fate and always said that if he ever ran into Harper again he wasn’t letting her go. And that’s exactly what he did. Harper was so beautiful and amazing and at first she was hesitant because he’s a famous MLB player but then she gave in to what her heart always desired which was Landon. Her ex Richie was a douche and was still around trying to interfere but her and Landon were just fire. The secondary characters in her new life were awesome and entertaining. I laughed quite a bit with this story and tested up a little with the epilogue. Simply beautiful.
I loved Landon and Harpers second chance story. This book was full of feels, and I’d highly recommend
Clutch Player is hands down one of my favorite books of 2020. This book kept me up until the early morning because I was obsessed with Landon and Harper. What an emotional ride that tugged on my heart and had me rooting for this couple! You need to read this book for the batting cages, the balance beam, and the twists and turns alone. The way Landon loves and supports Harper and her children is swoon worthy, I wanted to jump his bones! He is such a beautiful soul! I would love for Landon to be my clutch player for life.
Tracey, Life Reads With Friends
This is the first book by Nikki Ash I have read and I did not want to put it down. This book has a little bit of everything and is very well written with wonderful characters. I look forward to reading other books by this author in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book for an honest review.
Harper and Landons story is one you never want to end. This book had so many highs and lows you felt every emotion. What happens when your whole world changes over night and people who are supposed to support you fail you? You get up and put yourself first. Really hoping to see a future spin off from this one!
Another fantastic read by Nikki Ash Single parent romance stories are my all time favorite and add sports into that and BAM you have a HOMERUN!!!! Landon and Harper’s story has all the feels! Its intense, emotional, has some drama and lots of love I adored the second characters as well. This is an amazing second chance romance that everyone will love!!!
Hands down my favorite story by Nikki Ash (so far).
I could not read it fast enough. One night, one decision can change someone’s life.
Landon and Harper had fantastic chemistry. All everyone wants in life is to find a love like Landon and Harper have.
A love that stands the test of time and everything else that was thrown at it.
It was funny and serious and romantic! Everything I love in a book.
