Maryann always writes a happy every after with a little suspense thrown in and in this one it’s a who done it that’ll leave you guessing to the very end!
I absolutely adored this latest book in the Baytown Boys series. Great romance with an added twist of a murder mystery. Maryann Jordan dangles clues about all the possible murder suspects in front of the reader in such a way you want to keep reading to find out what happens and what the next clue is.
I highly recommend this series and book to everyone…its a great series and I can’t wait to see what comes out next.
Baytown Boys Series continues with Katelyn and Garreth. Katelyn MacFarlane thought her chance of happily-ever-after ended with her childhood sweetheart’s death in the military. She felt there was more to life than waitressing at a local diner and working at her family pub. Garreth Harrison came to Baytown after his time in the military and started a private investigation agency. He fell for Katelyn at first sight, but he didn’t act on it because of her grief. He offered her a job, and their attraction grew. A brilliantly written story with wonderful characters. A great addition to this awesome series.

I purchased a copy of the the novel Clues of the Heart: Baytown Boys Series book 3 by Maryann Jordan and this review was given freely.
Things heat up with Katelyn and Gareth when Katelyn takes up spying for a friend and Gareth catches her. The evolution of Bayton’s American Legion and Auxiliary, Katelyn’s desire for something new, and Katelyn and Gareth’s story of attraction to steamy romance are well blended with scenes from the pub and a double murder mystery.
Clues of the Heart is the kind of sweet (with heat) romance that I expect when I pick up a Maryann Jordan book. The stories in the Baytown Boys series have an underlying mystery to be solved, and in Clues of the Heart, the mystery portion is definitely kicked up a notch!
Gareth is a new transplant to the quiet eastern shore community of Baytown. He has got his private investigation business up and running. He has had is eye on beautiful waitress, Katelyn, but can see that she has an air of sadness around her.
Katelyn has been mourning her fiancé for the last six years since he lost his life serving our country. She always thought that she lost her one chance at love when she lost Philip, but recently discovered an interest in investigating and in the new local PI.
“…I haven’t felt that in a long time.” Swallowing deeply, she said, “You’re not the only one with war scars, Brogan.” Her finger hit her chest right over her heart and she choked out, “I carry them too.”
I have loved each book that I’ve read by this author and Clues of the Heart is no exception. Woven into this beautiful, emotional romance is a mystery that Katelyn and Gareth need to work together to solve.
I loved this book #3 in this series. This book is Katelyn MacFarlane, who’s childhood sweetheart did not return from the war, and Gareth Harrison, the PI that has located in Baytown having come home from the same war and nothing to go home to in his hometown. Gareth noticed the dark haired beauty the first time he entered the local pub owned by Kately and her two brothers. But he also noticed the pain in her beautiful eyes and upon learning the cause of that pain decided to leave her be since she was in mourning for her lost love.
This book is filled with love, loss, pain, murder, greed and mystery. As Katelyn realizes life is passing her by and she wants more than being a waitress which she has been for 16 years and now realizes she not only wants a change in her employment but also needs to move on from her dead fiance’ and let this gorgeous man into her life.
I admit this book required quite a few tissues as Katelyn moves forward from the death of Philip and the fact that she feels like she is forgetting him. Grief causes so many feelings that we need to work through and it takes years to handle.
The mystery is finally solved much to my surprise when the culprit is brought to light.
