Read the Country Club Murders in order.
Book number three in the Country Club Murder Series. The story is set in 1974 among the country club set in Kansas City. Though it is a cozy mystery, this work rises above the usual offerings in this genre. The setting is meticulously researched, the story is filled with humor that rings true, the characters are well developed, and the plotting reasonably tight and very well paced. Further, though this is the third book in the series, it maintains the high standard set in the earlier two novels. This book can be read as a stand alone work.
Great read!
I enjoyed this book so much that I read the whole series. It is a cleverly written, extremely funny mystery.
Loved this book! Great mystery that will keep you engaged until the end. Lots of unexpected occurrences and just when you think you’ve figured it out, boom!, surprise ending!
Great comedy /tragedy with twists and turns. Really fun to watch and catch the clues.
fun read! good way to put in an afternoon.
I loved the Holdenesque conversation in Ellison’s head versus the actual spoken words. Perfect.
I love that Ellison may say something in quotes, and then show what she’s truly thinking and feeling. A very human character!
A fun read. Takes you back to the 1970s in entertaining mystery
Fun read. Great peek into the gentrified social set, as it once might have been.
This is book 3 in a series. I have not read books 1 or 2, but now I would like to. It was laugh-out-loud funny with the kinds of turns of phrases my mother used back in the day. Cute characters. LIght mystery. Fun.
Brilliant! This Book is simply “Brilliant!” I hadn’t heard of this author before, but I intend to make it my mission in life to read everything she’s written! Have I already said this book was “Brilliant?” It is! The writing is Superb! The humour Brilliant, I have been laughing my sides out reading it! Great story, combining Romance with Mystery, two ingredients not always easy to mix, but done Brilliantly here! Please check out this author, and let’s give Credit where it’s due!
Ellison Russell is a wonderful and well written character. All of Julie Mulhern’s characters are well done. You can really picture them. This is another great entry in this series. Loved it.
I love this series. This is the 3rd book in the series and it was just as good the first two. This series takes place in Kansas City during the 70s. The author does a very good job with setting the time and place. Ellison has a full house with a visiting aunt and sister when it appears that someone is trying to kill her. The mystery was good with an interesting twist. This series should be read in order. I can’t wait to read the next one and see what trouble Ellison gets into next. Enjoy this fun cozy series with ice cold glass of TAB.
I am on the last of this series. I am going to miss Ellison and her entourage. Ms. Mulhern writes beautifully. Her characters are human. They get flustered, frightened, and frustrated in situations that call for it. Ellison has a great inner dialogue that made me laugh. I was growing up during the time this series was placed. I love the pop culture references of tv, the mention of gas prices and the historical significance of things that were happening at the time. The books are a great read. I got the audio books. The narrator was perfect.
I have been a fan since I read her first book and the more she writes, the better she gets. Her character development is great and their relationships with one another are constantly in flux, growing and changing. They come alive and become real. I KNOW these people! Love it!
This is a great series and I have read all of these books.
I like Julie Mulhorn’s main character and the details on the time (1974), but this one I had figured out pretty early on.
I will look for this author’s other books!
