Ever since they were children, Gillian Hearth has been her sister Frankie’s guardian, her sounding board, and her best friend. Together, the Hearth sisters quietly bury their secrets and form a formidable team during any crisis. Purchasing the old Blymhill house with the hopes of turning it into an artists’ retreat, the sisters are finally living their dream. But when Frankie’s stable ground is … is rattled by a vengeful ex-boyfriend, an unstable friend from the past shows up unannounced with delusions of intimacy, and a cold case cop starts sniffing around their door, the sisters are forced to wonder how far they will go to keep their secrets safe.
Gillian discovers that, this time, her fight is about to land her in the crosshairs of a dangerous predator who will use any means necessary to remove her from the equation. With everything she holds dear under threat, Gillian battles to keep her head above water and her skeletons in the closet.

I enjoyed reading this book!
It is very slow
Not enough action to keep my attention
unrealistic plot and characters. Felt like a soap opera
This is a twisted tale, and not comfortable to read (but that’s a compliment). I found myself holding my breath while speed-reading through some sections. And I never saw the end coming… lots of complicated and diverse characters to meet are here.
dreary
I found this book confusing and stopped reading after 40 pages!
this one is a “read again” for sure. on my saved as best list
Two sisters: One continually rescues the other. Would have to get old. The entire story is based on a falsehood.
quirky
I love mysteries with surprises. Good story,
Excellent read, goes places you cannot guess
Book was too cartooonish and melodramatic. The ending WAS quite a surprise. An OK read
This book did have some surprising twists which kept it interesting.

Loved this book, sort of sad but couldn’t put it down!
I enjoyed the book but was disappointed in the ending.
Different perspective, chilling
Wow not at all the way you expected the stores to end. Very good!
Started off slow but finished in exiting fashion. A good read.
Difficult to start, first several chapters hard to make sense of. Author finally pulled those together and the book became a good read. Not the sort of ending one would expect.
Ending was disappointing, though I was charging through to get to it.
