First of all let me say I love that Mae is a curvy model! Unfortunately she has picked up a creepy stalker along the way. Ziggy is the bodyguard that is hired to protect her. Protect her he did and then some. I absolutely loved Ziggy! I loved that Mae is a bit of chatter box and just a wee bit clumsy. Come on we’ve all been there, done that. LOL
Ziggy is jealous and very protective of Mae and wants no one else protecting her. He will practically growl at any guy that even looks at her. YUMMY Ziggy!!!
Loved seeing the bandmates of Stage Dive. I wish there would have been more of the book though!!
4.5 stars Closer is a fun, quick read that is full of humor and suspense. Mae is a famous plus-sized model with a rather large instagram following when she finds herself in the path of a stalker and what a stalker he is! I absolutely loved Mae and I am impressed with how well her character was developed given that this was a short novella. She is quite the smarty pants. Many times I found myself chuckling over her sarcasm and witty inner monologues. Ziggy is not a bodyguard, but rather a “close protection officer” as he insists on being called. Tasked with protecting the lovely Mae, he takes his job quite seriously. He is rather serious and Mae would crack me up with her inner musings of what a stony facade he puts forth. Did his mouth tip up into a semi-smile by perhaps an 1/8 of inch there? This novella was fast-paced complete with humor, action, and some hot scenes. I’m fascinated by how much the author was able to fit into this novella. There were a few cameos from the Stage Dive band members and their significant others which I loved. While this is a Stage Dive novella, I would say that this can be read as a standalone.
Another fabulous visit to the world of the Stage Dive crew, bringing Mae and Ziggy, a very welcome addition, into their circle. Mae is fabulous, funny, gorgeous and kind. Ziggy is stoic in the face of his intense attraction to this lovely woman and this, combined with the usual hilarious one liners, superb banter and, of course, the glory that is Mal, brings another glimpse into lives that I want to read about. Add in a pair whose attraction to each other is sizzling, and you have a sure fire, fun read which leaves you feeling fabulous. Loved it!!
4 Stars!
Mae Cooper is an ultra glamorous, plus-size model/ Instagram fashionista. She lives in her hometown of Portland, Oregon where she tries to hold onto as much privacy as she can manage given her public persona. With the job comes fans, but when she suddenly has a persistent creepy stalker who gets too close, it’s time to bump up security and get proper protection. Her safety is at stake, and she’s trying not to freak out. Then to complicate things even more, she gets a nice distraction named Ziggy. Her new bodyguard is tall, dark, and devastatingly handsome. She’s inconveniently attracted to her hot hired muscle, but needs to stay professional since she’s kind of his boss, and anything between them would be inappropriate. Even with the best intentions she has trouble not wanting the beautiful man following her around the majority of her days.
Former military man, tough guy Ziggy Thayer is used to guarding a variety of celebrities and high profile people. From billionaires, royalty, to rock stars, he’s seen it all. Now he’s shadowing a gorgeous brunette with dangerous curves that drive him wild. He never gets involved with a client, but somewhere between photo shoots, and quiet nights in, real feelings have developed, and lines get blurred. Has Ziggy found the one woman to make him want more, and has Mae found a man who will finally put her first?
Closer (A Stage Dive Novella) by Kylie Scott is a 1001 Dark Nights standalone story that is sexy and sinfully delicious! I really enjoyed this new story in the Stage Dive series, and loved being back in that world with all the characters I love.
This was a great quick read. I love a broody bodyguard who is a great protector. It was nice seeing cameos from others characters of the series. I love seeing a strong independent woman who makes a name for herself and knows what she wants. This novella was a great mix of the things I love about a book.
Kylie Scott created an exciting and sexy story set in Stage Dive world in Closer. It was intense. It had just the right touch of dangerous thrill with passion and electrifying chemistry.
Mae Cooper, the curvy sexy and sassy model gets Ziggy Thayer as bodyguard when some creepy stalker sends her some creepy and disgusting things. Now Mae is in a vulnerable state where her life is spiralling out of her control. Behind her celeb smile, she is a simple and sweet girl who craves love and care. She is adorable and pretty perfect with her big heart and sometimes awkward self conscious behaviors. And Ziggy is proving to be a great support system for him. But getting involved with own bodyguard is not a bright idea.
Ziggy is perfection. I love the men who convey so much more with expressions and behaviors. He is oh so dreamy and delicious with his gorgeous body and even more gorgeous heart. He is one of those confident and protective alphas! Their chemistry was scorching hot even when they were not touching each other. The sexual and emotional tension was palpable.
Closer by Kylie Scott was a brilliantly written short yet captivating story. The steam and the sweetness was perfectly balanced. I wanted it to go on!
Received ARC for Honest review
ICloser is a novella, so it is a quick read, yet it had enough substance to make it feel like a full story. This book moved quickly and had a great flow. Humour was often present, as was drama and action.
Kylie Scott has an easy to read writing style with fun relatable characters. I swear these characters are real. If you are new to the Stage Dive world, Closer is a great taste to entice you in. If you’re already a fan of the series, like me, Closer lets you visit some old friends. You can definitely read Closer before other books in the series, but many couples from the series feature so it can be spoilerish in this way.
When Lena appeared as Mae’s link to the Stage Dive world, I knew I was on to a winning leading lady. Anyone who is friends with Lena is going to be an awesome character. The similarities between the two women are there, the curves, the sass and the sense of humor are shared. Many of the best scene feature dialogue between these two women. Ziggy is a typical bodyguard; black suit, bad-arse, rarely a smile. I would have loved this book to be longer so we could have heard more from his POV.
The Stage Dive series is one of my favourites and Closer is a great addition to the series.
All those ‘s’ words; sexy, strong and stoic
I’ll jump at the chance to read any book from Kylie Scott. Since Evelyn and David Ferris stole my heart along with the rest of the Stage Dive boys all those years ago, that series has been a constant re-read for me. Ziggy and Mae’s book features within that world, and I loved meeting the band again, especially when the craziness that is Mal had me spitting my smoko at my screen in laughter.
Who doesn’t love the ex-military type, and Ziggy is all those ‘s’ words; sexy, strong and stoic. Oh, and don’t forget about smouldering. He had the dark, laser-beam protective look down pat and a lesser woman than Mae would have wilted under that heat.
Nope, she is a woman of substance, and we’re definitely not talking about the fact that she is a sexy plus-size model, because lets face it, even plus-size models are smaller than most of us!! Mae has an essence about her that shows true grit to have been faced with the type of ‘fan’ attention she’s had and still have a smiling sense of humour, to remain upright under the weight of Ziggy’s stares yet still believe she is only an assignment to him.
Passion and chemistry plus. And, for all this, I believe in the world of novellas, it is still a relatively slow burn, although the time line of the book itself suggests otherwise. Ms. Scott has packed a lot of action into a novella that you will love to squash into your day somewhere, and feed your Stage Dive addiction. 4.5 Stars.
Short and sweet. This book is about a friend of Lena’s. You’ll remember her from The Stage Dive series, Lead; she’s Jimmy’s wife. Anyway, Mae is a model who is being stalked. And because of this, she needs a bodyguard. So along comes, Ziggy. Ziggy is assigned to watch out for Mae. But what he didn’t expect was to start having feelings for her. He tried to remain stoic, but was failing. Mae was attracted to Ziggy too. But she wanted a man that would treat her like a queen and that wouldn’t like her just in her modeling look. Wanted to be loved for just being plain ol’Mae. She didn’t even realize that Ziggy was that guy. Once again this short book brought in the stage dive guys and their spouses. I just love when we get to read about them again, even if briefly. If your a fan of Stage Dive, then go pick this one up too! You will not be disappointed!!!
Is everyone else as excited to revisit the Stage Dive world as I am because GUESS WHAT…Closer by Kylie Scott is here and readers are going to fall in love with every moment of this fast paced novella! Mae Cooper, the beautiful plus-size model with a stalker and Ziggy Thayer, the sexy bodyguard sent to protect her, are about to discover what it means to we your best self. This story had just the right amount of mystery, angst, drama, and laughable moments that left me completely satisfied…even if the story was too short (but only because I never wanted their story to end)!
When Mae starts to receive gifts from a stalker, she ends up getting Ziggy as a bodyguard. Once burned by love, Mae doesn’t want to be attracted to Ziggy, but can’t help that she is. But she knows… it has to stay professional, no lines crossed. Will Mae be able to hide what she is wanting from Ziggy?
This was a great really short read, my only complaint is that it’s so short and we don’t get the typical Kylie Scott drama that normally comes with her stories. I’m sure this is due to how short this is… to say it plain, I’m just greedy and wanted more. Nice naughty bits, some danger and violence, this gets 4.5 stars.

It is always fun being back in the world of Stage Dive!!! I truly miss these guys :). These novellas in the world of Stage Dive gives us just the taste we need to feel satisfied!!
Closer is the second novella in the Stage Dive Series by Kylie Scott. I thought it was a great addition to this series. This story was one of my favorites in this series. I just wish it was longer. It is a standalone story and you don’t have to read the Stage Dive series to enjoy these characters.
I loved the heroine in this book. Mae is like every woman out there. She was real and had insecurities that every woman faces. But I loved her strength too because she knew she deserved better. Ziggy was also a help to build her up as their connection grew. I liked Ziggy a lot too but he wasn’t very vocal until closer to the end. So if you like the strong silent type Hero he is a man you need to meet 😉
I really enjoyed this read. It is a fairly quick story and not filled with a lot of drama. Truthfully it was just great being with the members of Stage Dive and the ladies they love.
Closer is a standalone novella that is told solely from Mae’s POV. I thought the flow and pace of this story worked well. I loved the element of suspense added to their story to keep me turning the pages.
Like I said this book is about Mae and Ziggy. Mae is Lena’s (heroine in Lead, book 3) friend and Ziggy is the bodyguard that was hired to protect her when she receives some creepy packages. This book is kind of a forbidden romance because Ziggy technically works for Mae. Will Ziggy fight his feelings for Mae?? Can she break through his barrier and cross that line? Will they get their HEA?? Read this book to find out.
If you are a fan of the Stage Dive series and band members, or if you haven’t met this cast of characters yet, then you will want to read this book. Also if you are a fan of Kylie Scott’s books, then you should read this book. You are pretty much guaranteed to enjoy the book if Kylie Scott wrote it!!!
The closer these two perfect for each other main couple get, the hotter their attraction, chemistry, and strong romantic connection. Mae made the sisterhood proud with her sassy, feisty attitude towards life and love. She’s living her celebrity life mostly on the low down and doesn’t let the baggage of a failed relationship weigh her down. No, she wasn’t looking for love, but she’s also not one to push it away when it comes knocking at her door. I loved her easy going nature and how comfortable she was in her own skin and with those she interacted.
Ziggy is your handsome, cool, calm, man of few words, professional bodyguard assigned to keep Mae safe from a stalker. This very short novella pretty much stays centered on them as they get to know one another and the circle of friends we’ve met earlier in the previous stand-alone sequels. As a huge fan of those books, I’m always glad to be reunited with them, even if it is just briefly.
Of course, we get closure on the psycho business. For me it was a blip on the plot radar because this novella was more about the romance, folks. Plain and simple. Just the way I like it. Keep them coming, Ms Scott. I for one can’t get enough of the Stage Dive and Dive Bar series.
Title: 1001 Dark Nights: Closer, Series: Stage Dive (Book 4.6), Author: Kylie Scott, Pages: 107, novella, stand-alone but linked to a series, sweet/perfect for each other main couple, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle, no cheating, romance safe, some steamy scenes, get to know each other first.

When Mae Cooper ends up with a not so friendly package at her doorstep she finds she is in need of help. Enter the sexy Ziggy Thayer, the new Bodyguard for this plus size beauty. Can they keep it professional or will their chemistry lead to more than just protecting her life? This is a sweet & short romantic suspense novella from the stage dive world. Love the cameos thrown in too from our favorite rock band. Told in Mae’s POV
