Eden didn’t do second dates.
Not ever.
Like never, ever.
She wasn’t built for them or for commitment or for anything that resembled a relationship. Been there, done that, got the lousy, souvenir T-shirt. She’d married young, divorced really young, and the only thing that crappy relationship had given her was a taste for how sweet her freedom could be.
So now if she saw a man and liked him, she … be.
So now if she saw a man and liked him, she had him.
No judgment, no censure or self-loathing. She took what they were willing to give for one night and moved on.
Except for Damon Wood. He was beyond hot and she definitely liked him. But she hadn’t had him.
Because she knew if she did once would not be enough.
Damon was a photographer by trade and since Eden was a former model, their paths had crossed plenty. He was professional, sexy as sin, and could have her in stitches at the exact wrong, or depending on the shot he was after, the exact right moment. So aside from his killer personality and gorgeous body, his photographs of her were her favorites.
As in she cherished them.
More than that, she dreamed about him—about Damon in her bed, against a wall, on the kitchen counter, the shower. And maybe . . . she dreamed about him in her life.
For more than one date.
As thus, she’d never dipped into the pool that was Damon Wood and never would. No way, no how, no—
Then their paths crossed, she had a weak moment, and he ended up naked in her bed.
And wouldn’t leave.

I was not expecting this story! Miss Faber broke the mold with this! I had to read it in one sitting because it was amazing!
Whore by Elise Faber is yet another one of her books that I could not put down. Actress Eden carries a lot of baggage from her past, but can the one man she’s allowed into her life as her friend help carry it all?
The love shown between Eden and Damon is definitely what romance novels should be written about. I just loved them! These two together made such an astounding team! Cannot wait to read the next book in these stand-alones!
Whore (Chauvinist Stories #3) by Elise Faber is quite the moving and powerful read. Ms. Faber’s known for her lighthearted, sweet and funny stories but her Chauvinist Stories are very different from what readers are used to from her. Case in point the title of her newest book.
It’s a poignant, touching, heartbreaking, and moving romance that touches on two people – Eden and Damon- who are friends and their relationship moves beyond a friendship to a friends to lovers type during course of the story and how they deal with it. Its a complex and unique situation due to Eden’s past; Damon wants her completely and he is willing to do whatever to make it happen…Damon is completely swoon-worthy. He will go the extra mile to fight Eden’s demons and boy, hers are huge!! Get ready to be amazed!! I definitely can’t wait for the next book !!
My Rating: 4.5 stars ********
My third book by this author and she’s got a fan for life. First let me say whore is a little harsh but that’s what judgy people will call a woman who enjoys her sexual freedom. But Eden owns it! We discover why she has such a tough veneer and it broke my heart. Damon and she have worked together in the past and are friends. Damon would like to take it well past the friend zone. A fantastic romantic story about friends to lovers and so much more!
Eden is a former model turned actress. A woman who enjoys her pleasure. And why shouldn’t she? She’s single, she’s independent, and men have been doing the same forever. But of course the double standards are still in place, so she’s judged for enjoying herself and men are not judged. Sigh… But there’s one man, the man who turned her from model to superstar with one photo shoot, one man she cares about and likes, with whom she’s never allowed herself to cross that line from friendship to more. Until one night she lets herself cross that line, and then the man simply won’t go away after!
Damon has long wanted more from Eden than simply friendship with flirting thrown in. But she’s never let him in until one night. And now that he’s had a taste of her, he’s not going to let go. Nope. He had her once and now he wants her for always. He doesn’t just want her body, though, he wants it all – her body, her heart, and her love. Somehow he’ll get her to let down her walls and let him in. And he’ll be by her side regardless of what the paparazzi throw at them, regardless of what her past is, regardless. Because this photographer is all about the forever, and Eden will just have to understand that when he loves, when his family loves, it’s permanent.
Dang, this one was so much deeper than its title suggests! And I loved it. Eden has a really sad past that’s shaped her in ways she doesn’t like to think about. Thank God for gently persistent and loving Damon, because he’s her rock, the man she needs, the man she deserves. They’re so sweet together and I loved every page of their love story. Kudos to Elise for this thoughtful romance.
This book is a classic Friends to Lovers setting.
The title sounds harsh but it’s a great choice, because the book is like the world sees Eden from the outside. An ice queen, superficial, a model who plays with men and takes what she wants. But always one night.
No one looks behind the facade.
Except Damon. He’s known Eden for a long time and he’s patiently waiting for a chance to break her armor.
When Eden finally let him in , a very vulnerable woman comes to the outside who can grow in her vulnerability. With Damons help. I loved that Damon never gave up and always stood by Edens side.
Elise Faber’s writing style is, as always, very humorous, reflective and she transports a socially important theme in every book. I love her style, although her protagonists are often broken, they never come across as unsympathetic. They suffer, they fight and win.
Great.
I loved this story!
Eden and Damon were great for each other! They had a great friendship which led to a wonderful night together. Damon wanted more but Eden had been hurt in the past and had closed herself off from relationships. Damon slowly worked his way into her heart. Damon could see a future with Eden and wasn’t going to let her go. This was a wonderful friends to lovers romance! I loved it! Elise has written another fantastic book in the Chauvinist Stories series! I can’t wait for her next book!
Elise Faber writes a moving and emotional story about a woman trying to move on after a tragic past. I enjoyed reading this poignant story and my heart went out to Eden and Damon. They share a complex and steamy relationship and Damon was just what Eden needed to move on with her life.
Eden is an accomplished actress and lives a life many would love to have. However, everything isn’t always as it seems. Damon and Eden have known each other for years and he is a successful photographer. I loved Damon. He is caring and protective and Eden is lucky to have such a wonderful friend and lover.
Ok so I’m not going to lie the book looked interesting but I wasn’t really sure how I would feel about it. Turns out I Loved this book! Eden has a twisted past that no one knows about. But when she sleeps with Damon she realizes that maybe not all guys are the same and that maybe he is different. When her life gets messed up she realizes who will stand by her when life gets tough.
I wanted to be alone. To forget I’d just done that, that I’d hurt him, that I’d freaked out and revealed—
“But I’ll come back, baby. And we’re going to talk about this.”
Loved this book and can not wait to read more.
I have received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
De-café review of Whore (Chauvinist Stories #3) by Elise Faber
Let’s start of with being very honest the title is harsh and had me second guessing my pick to read this. But honestly Elise Faber is a favorite of mine and there isn’t much she puts out that I won’t read. Her stories are fast-paced, humorous, just the right amount of sexy. She also tries to bring in some impactful social issue. This time she tackles children getting married.
As with most of her writing this story starts off with a bang from the beginning.
It quickly brings to the forefront every stereotype and double standard strong, independent women face, whether they be true or not.
Let’s talk characters:
Eden is a tough nut to crack. Life has not been easy for her and she has built a pretty think wall around her. Eden and Damon have a great friend-based relationship that has taken years to build. They can be fun and flirty but also, they aren’t afraid to share the uglier sides of life.
This is a friend to lover romance. I tend to grade these a little harsher because they often fail to have the chemistry I like in a book. But true to form Faber has that covered for the reader. This was a 4/5 read for me. Don’t be like me and doubt the book based on the title, move past the title and do yourself a favor and read this book!
Eden had some bad luck in the past so to protect herself, she closed herself off from romantic entanglements. Well, she did, until Damon. He weaved his way into her heart as her friend and he found that he couldn’t let that be all they were. This was a great friends to lovers story. Damon saw something in Eden and didn’t want to let her go.
I thought that this was a quite powerful read. A beautiful, moving romance that will touch your heart, have you swooning and also challenges you to open your eyes and mind and make the effort to peak behind the curtain and take a closer look at something before you start judging. Eden and Damon’s story is something special and trust me when I say so, so much more than you’d expect from the title. I am choosing to post a volitional review.
Another fabulous read from Elise Faber with Whore. Eden has led a life one can’t even imagine. She thought she left that all behind but the nightmares seem to follow. Damon has stood by Eden since the moment they have met. They have such a close friendship and he is tired of waiting. Eden never wanted to put their friendship on the line. Once that line is crossed, Damon and Eden are hot together. I love their relationship. I love how Damon always is by Eden’s side no matter what. Eden gets thrown to the wolves being an actress. She has weathered many storms. And with this new one on the horizon I love how Eden and Damon handle things. Whore is fabulous and I can’t wait for the next book in the Chauvinist stories series.
Looks can be deceiving and so can titles. This book’s title conjures up all sorts of ideas and thoughts and will take your mind to different places. Let me be clear, you’ll never in a million years be prepared for the story that will unfold.
“Whore” is about Eden a beautifully broken woman who hides behind a shield of indifference in order to survive a tragedy from her past. On the outside she appears normal and whole but on the inside things are very different. Enter Damon, the one man who see’s her, all of her. He waits patiently for the opportunity to get past her defenses, to the heart of the woman he loves.
Watching them get together, watching them struggle to communicate and to love each other makes this a must read. “Whore” is another fantastic addition to Elise Faber’s Chauvinist Stories and along with Bitch and Cougar, should be added to your TBR list ASAP.
A quick read, this story hits the ground running right from the first page. It shines a light on every stereotype and double standard strong, independent women face, accurate or not.
Eden and Damon have a great friendship and a trust between them that has taken years to build. Their teasing banter is so much fun, but they don’t shy away from the heavy stuff either.
Can Damon slip his way under her armor, or will he forever be relegated to the friend zone? Can Eden find a way to let go of the past and finally open herself up to love? Pick it up and find out for yourself.
I so did not want to like this book. It turned out I just couldn’t help myself. Faber made her point crystal clear. She broke the mold with Eden. Eden is every stereotype society will have us believe about women. She’s beautiful on the outside, wounded on the inside and presents herself as an ice queen to the world. She’s more the love’em and leave’em type. At least that’s what her reputation is. Damon breaks ever rule to win her heart and brings readers along for the ride. It turns out that Whore is much more than a title, I hate. It’s a barrier that needs to be broken down. Faber hits back at the stigma that word represents and opened my eyes to so much more.
This was an ok book. Eden kind of irritated me a lot. She had been through a lot and I understand that but instead of getting help she would rather just have one night stand upon one night stand. She uses Damon throughout the book and when times get tough and things she doesn’t want known are released she wants to run. She doesn’t and they end up together but I just ended up feeling bad for Damon
