I have loved everything that Kristen Proby has written and Close to You was no exception! This newest series that follows 5 women who open a restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Cami and Landon were the main characters for this second book in the series and I loved them both!
Proby does an excellent job of building her characters and making them so real. Seriously, I feel like these people could become my friends! As usual, I highly recommend!
Close To You is Book Two in this series and is Cami’s and Landon’s story.
They have known eachother ever since they were teenagers and Cami has Loved Landon all those years and beyond…her marriage to another man didn’t survive because of her love for Landon.
Landon has been away for 10 years serving in the Navy, but now he has been discharged after an accident and now he is back home.Taking over his fathers buisness he finds himself working with Cami on renovations on the restaurant she part owns with her friends.
Her feelings towards Landon only get stronger and Landon also begins to recognise his feelings for Cami and starts at last to act on them.
This is a very sweet and romantic book,I also found it emotional as some of the events that happened to Cami and Landon were sad.
I think that Kristen did a great job with this story and I was glad there wasn’t too much angst and they got together quickly…They were always meant to be together Fate makes sure of that.
It is a fantastic read and I Highly Recommend it.
5 Stars.
I was so very happy that we were going to get the story of Cami and Landon after reading the first one in this new series. I was anxious to read it and it totally met my expectations! I loved reading this story from beginning until end. I didn’t want to put it down.
Cami has loved Landon ever since she was a teenager but Landon ended up in a different country, doing what he loved in the Navy. After being seperated for a long time, Landon is back after an incident and is forced to move back home. Will they ever get together? or will Cami be forced to admit it can’t go any further than a “crush”?
I am really loving this new series by an author that has become one of my favourites and easily one of my one clicks! I cannot wait to read the next one in this series!
I think the biggest thing that was lacking in this book for me was any sort of emotional development. While it was technically a friends-to-lovers romance, because Landon and Cami had been harboring feelings for years it lacked the emotional growth I usually love about books that fall into that trope. There wasn’t a slow burn from friends to “oh no, I definitely feel something more”. Instead everything was just sort of settled by a confession, which didn’t hold the same sort of emotional punch I was hoping for.
Cami has been in love with her best friend’s older brother, Landon, basically forever. She loved him as a kid, she loved him when he went off to join the Navy while she was still in high school, and she still loves him now that he’s back in Portland after an accident that ended his military career. She loved him so much, it was part of the reason her marriage didn’t work out. But things are different than they were before. Because this time, Landon doesn’t just see Cami as his kid sister’s friend. Now she’s old enough for him and single again, and he’s ready to see Cami as the woman she’s become.
And while I totally understood the teenage girl has a crush on her best friend’s older brother thing, I’ll admit that I was a bit weirded out by the development that Landon, the 20-something guy, had a thing for 17 year old Cami. Enough that his father told him to keep his hands off her and then Landon joined the Navy and was gone for the next decade? That part felt somewhat… uncomfortable. And I was also a little annoyed that once Cami stopped pining for him, suddenly he was all in and seemed confused as to why she was leery. After YEARS of him knowing about her crush and maybe not being the kindest about flaunting other girls in front of her? I had a hard time seeing him as this grand romantic hero Cami eventually saw him as.
I couldn’t wait to read this book the second I finished Listen to Me because I was dying for Cami and Landon’s story. Kristen Proby did not disappoint let me tell you.
Close to You is a sweet romance that knows how to pull on all the right heartstrings. Nothing makes me swoon like the girl who’s madly in love with her best friends brother. Cami is head over heels in love with Landon. They have been close all their lives, but it breaks Camis heart when he leaves to join the Navy and is never home. But once Landon comes home for good, the one thing he’s sure of is that he’s always wanted Cami and he’s determined to have her.
Cami is such a sweet person. She’s very caring and generous. I love how much she loved Landon, it was clear in her thoughts and actions. There is a clear pull they feel towards one another. I loved every minute they shared together. Landon is so caring, making up for all the lost time they were apart. I’m telling you will love this book from beginning to end. Of course Kat, Mia, and Riley are so much fun and funny as hell. I liked hearing what’s new with Addie and Jake as well.
What if your lifelong unrequited love wasn’t really unrequited? Cami has long given up on her fairytale ending. Falling in love with your best friend’s older brother isn’t exactly uncommon, but staying in love with him your whole life? Now that is unique. It’s also a bit of a punishment when you know you can never be with him. For years, Cami and Landon were friends, until one day he walked away. She knew she would never be anything more than his sister’s friend, but to her, he was everything. When Landon returns home from the military, he is determined to change everything. Her crush was never one sided, and he is ready to show her exactly how he feels.
I love Cami! She is a strong, successful woman. She has made a nice life for herself including a successful career, great group of friends, and even a great friendship with her ex-husband. She, however, has never been able to make a success of her love life. She fell in love with Landon when she was just a little girl, and although she has tried to move on, no one else has ever been able to fill his spot in her heart.
Landon was a fantastic character! After years of living away and serving in the Navy, he is finally home for good. While it seems like his life is completely off track (what was he if he wasn’t a pilot?), he knows there is only one person he wants to share it with. While Cami has never made her crush on him a secret, he is forced to prove his feelings for her.
These two were fantastic together. Landon was sweet and romantic. While Cami took some convincing after years of wanting him from the sidelines, the chemistry was there from the very beginning. No matter what seemed to get in their way, they found a way to work through it. I was rooting for them every step of the way.
Not only did I love watching the developing relationship between Landon and Cami, I loved getting to know their group of friends. These characters were fantastic. They each had their own personalities, and they were so important to one another. I would love to see more of each of them!
If you are looking for a love story with a sweet hero and strong heroine that will leave you warm and fuzzy, this could be a great book for you. I definitely recommend checking it out. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series!
I listened to the audio copy of this book and thought it was really well done!
Cami LaRue has been in love with her best friends brother from the moment boys came into the picture for her, the problem was he was older and always treated her more like a kid sister than someone who he was interested in kissing, and it irked Cami beyond belief! Through the years she has tried to get over her crush for him, but she has never been able to shake it, she even tried getting married to someone else, but there he was lingering in the back of her mind, and eventually causing her marriage to implode. With him being in the military and traveling all over the world there haven’t been many opportunities for them to see much of each other, but that is about to change because he has decided to move home and take over the family construction business, and Cami couldn’t be happier to see him come home… now she just has to convince him to stay, and give them a shot!
Landon Palazzo has spent the last twelve years trying his damnedest to avoid acting on his desire for his sister’s best friend, for fear of starting something that would wind up hurting them both when he decided to leave home to follow his military dreams. But now that’s all about to change, his days in the military are over and he has a plan to move home and take over the family construction business… and finally win the heart of the girl whose held his captive for so long! Learning that she married someone else just about killed him, he wanted to be the one waiting at the end of the aisle for her, but at the time he knew he couldn’t give her the life she wanted so he had to just walk away. But now that her situation has changed, all bets are off, and he isn’t about to walk away without the girl this time!!
I have been anxiously awaiting for the opportunity to dive back into this series and get better acquainted with another one of Ms. Proby’s endearing characters, and I have to say that I loved this literary trip just as much as the first!! The minute I started it, I felt my addiction pickup right where I left it after finishing the first book in the series, and after a few paragraphs into it it was like I’d never left, everything blended together seamlessly! From the moment Landon stepped into the picture I knew it was only a matter of time before I would lose my heart to him, his caring and possessive nature lured me in and had me hanging onto his every word… he had me at his mercy from start to finish! I loved everything about this story, it’s one of those reads that taps into your emotions, and lingers with you long after the last page is turned… and in my book it doesn’t get much better than that!!
If you like your reads a little on the naughty side, full of heart and a little humor too, than this series is definitely right up your alley!! Highly recommend it!!
