“Welcome to Westen. I’m Lorna Doone. Yep, spelled just like the cookie and I own the Peaches ‘N Cream Café here in Westen. You might think nothing much happens in a small mid-western town, but as my friend Harriett says, things aren’t always what they appear. Take our girl Emma for example…”
Emma Lewis has a lot on her plate. The single mother of two precocious twin boys and an aging mother who … mother who is having trouble getting through each day, the last thing Emma needs is a man in her life, especially a doctor. So when the town’s doctor goes on vacation and his handsome nephew takes over, Emma is shocked to not only find him standing in her bedroom, but accusing her of being a neglectful parent.
Clint Preston came to Westen for the year to fill in as the town doc while his uncle took a long needed vacation. Clint also needed a sense of peace and calm to try to find his passion for medicine burned out by long shifts in an urban hospital’s ER. Angered to find two boys in his clinic with broken wrists and no accompanying parent, he is determined to confront their mother. The feisty redhead he meets quickly dispels his belief that she’s a neglectful mother, but he can see her situation is more critical than she wishes to face and finds himself volunteering to help care for her sons and the remodeling of her home.
As Emma and Clint forge a relationship among the slightly off-beat characters that inhabit Westen a menace from Emma’s past threatens her and her sons. Clint and Emma join forces to prevent the loss of either boy and the love they’ve discovered in each other’s’ arms.

I am reading it now and hate to put it down.
Loved it.
Great book
Enjoyed the fact she was able to trust again
Very sweet contemporary romance with the cutest “cant stay out of trouble” twins and a smidgen of suspense. The author also deals with the subject of a parent having Alzheimer’s and I thought did a very good job of showing what it is like to live with someone with the disease.
Good plot.
Awesome book
Cool story, likable characters.
Just reading the review I love it so much has so much vide images like I can see how she is in a messy hair bun with a baggy T-shirt and some sweats with her two twins boys running around lol I want to read more !!!!!!!
Easy read with great characters ! I have twins so I really enjoyed the twin boys in this book!!
The characters were great. The twin boys were hysterical. The story line was pretty much what I expected but it was still a nice read. I would recommend it for anyone just wanting a light hearted book with a little humor, romance and a happy
ever after.
Just finished it. Good story, a little predictable but with a couple of turns I didn’t expect to keep it interesting. Good read!
Excellent characters, enjoyable and nice quick read. The main characters appeared real and the ending had a very pleasing unpredictable twist.
A great summer beach or porch read, you just need an afternoon and some lemonade!
Did not want it to end
Enjoyed the book
Writing about real life issues with real feelings can’t be easy. This was done well; the characters faced issues both individually and together. I laughed, cringed, and hoped through all the ins and outs of this book. A great read!
I loved this story and can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
The thing I love about Suzanne’s books is that even though they are in the romance genre, they are captivating without being overly bugged down with sex scenes.
It is also refreshing that language as opposed to obscenities were used to conjure scenery and emotions and mindsets and characters.
Sweet small town romance with charming characters and nasty villain. NOT an intensely written novel.
Two stars because the writer is good. Its a shame she doesn’t sink her teeth into something that shows the fortitude and power of women. Typical scenario …. everything misunderstood in the beginning by the male. ALL problems solved and/or taken care of by rescuing male in the end. She didn’t solve any of her own issues. I get it, single mom, …
