A great new start for a Brothers Keeper series and Part One did not disappoint. We seem to have several main characters all tied together. The story of Eddie and Skye, two con artists hoping to make it big in Vegas. Cane O’Reilly is trying to keep Charlie safe and secure but she wants a real life while a serial killer is after her.
And when the lights go out in Vegas, well there is trouble and Cane is determined to get Charlie out before she is caught by the one man who wants her dead.
I loved the comedy with Eddie and Skye and can’t wait to see what happens with Cane and Charlie in Part 2!
Should I like the secondary couple more than the main couple? Because I found myself more interested in them at times then the action going on with Cane and Charlie. The prologue grabbed me right away, but when we fast forwarded into real time, Charlie was less ballsy then when she was introduced to Cane. That’s my biggest complaint…even knowing that being hidden away from a serial killer for years has got to be taxing on a gal, it took me a few chapters to get reinvested in Charlie and Cane.
I seldom read books with cliffhangers or those that are parts of duets, unless both books have already been released. I need that instant gratification of knowing how the story is going to end. So I waited until part two was coming up for publication soon so I wouldn’t need to wait that long. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
What a great start to new series – action packed, thrilling and I just could not put my kindle down until I finished it. I was with Cane and Charlie, hiding out from the crazy serial killer during the blackout. The suspense, the light hearted moments with Eddie and Skylar, the plot, the passion – all so good. Recommend this book and can’t wait for the next one!

I love this book. It was fantastic how real Stephanie St. Klaire made this book so fantastic and seem so real. I love Zy and Tessa and the baby. I love how Zy always came to Tessa rescue. But they both keep their distance because of their job. Hope the second part is as great as the first part and Zy can say both his girl and his best friend.

This is part one in The Keeper’s series and it is Cane and Charlotte’s story. Cane is part of the O’Reilly family and also works for The Brother’s Keeper’s Security Company and now he is assigned to protect and keep Charlotte safe as she is a high profile person as she is the only one that got away from a serial killer. Charlotte has spent the last two years in witness protection as she is the only surviving victim of a serial killer where she spent weeks being tortured, sexually assaulted and witnessed other people being killed while being held captive before managing to get away but the serial killer Anson Deveraux is still on the loose and still hunting her as he leaves no witnesses alive and that is where Cane comes in but then he underestimated Charlotte who brought her claws out as she shows Cane that she is a survivor. Omg this is only part one and I am already hooked and can’t wait to read the next one. There are many twists and turns along the way and I couldn’t put this book down as it was so addictive. Stephanie St Klaire is an amazing and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book but just remember that it is not a standalone one you will need to read the next one to follow the story but it will definitely be worth it as Stephanie certainly knows how to keep her reader’s attention.

Close Encounter By SSK was such a juicy read! I love her action packed book while also making it a love story you can’t walk away from! I read the book in one setting because I just needed to know how it ended!
She knows how to write to keep you locked in page after page.
Close Encounter by Stephanie St Klaire wow start to finish action packed and loved to hear about older characters popping the heads back in this story. Wonderful job keeping me on my toes again…Love Charlie and Cane so combustible wow…then add in Eddie and Skye they are too funny. Another most read by Stephanie.
Cane is in charge of keeping Charlie safe and while doing so runs into a full on blackout in Vegas. Full of suspense, twists, and turns! I couldn’t put it down. A spinoff of her Brother’s Keepers series but you definitely don’t have to know them to read this one. This author is just getting better and better with every book! Cannot wait for more!
Fun, very short read about Cane and Charlie. But thrown in is two con artists, Skye and Eddie and a psychotic serial killer! Definitely enjoyed this quick read, but would love more on Cane and Charlie. I feel like there is more coming.
SSK has done it again with a story I couldn’t put down. The perfect combination of steamy, suspenseful, and humorous. I always loves seeing a few familiar faces make an appearance. Cane and Charlie have undeniable chemistry. Skye and Eddie were so hilarious, I hope we see them again soon. The check in scene! That’s all I’ll say about that! LOL
Add to your TBR list, you won’t be disappointed!
This story starts with a bang and it’s so addictive! Packed with action but also filled with mixed emotions. Cane and Charlie’s story opens up to a whole new world where villains can sneak up from anywhere, could be anyone and heroes are sometimes people we wouldn’t taught of ! I really need to see what would happen next and I wished this book would have kept going on. As usual Stephany keeps us on edge and makes us dream about a follow up story !
Another outstanding story by Stephanie St. Klaire. I was hooked from the first page, and couldn’t put it down until I turned the last. Stephanie is a mastermind at writing romantic suspense. I loved Cane & Charlie, and I can’t wait for more.
Wowza! I started reading Stephanie St Klaire’s Close Encounters and in no time I was hooked on the characters and the story. I flew through the first few chapters because I just couldn’t get enough or Charlie and Cane and their back and forth zings! And as in…
Crazy-awesome!! This book had me pulled in from page one and I couldn’t put it down. Not only were Cane O’Reilly and Charlotte (Charlie) Adams, fantastic characters, “Philip” and “Elizabeth” had me laughing and glued to the pages. The suspense was intense enough that I did not want to be in that hotel during the blackout. Wow! I hope to hear more from these characters in later books.
I read Close Encounters by Stephanie St. Klaire. Hold on to your heart. It begins fast paced and felt a little rushed, but a few pages in and it all smoothed out. Cane O’Rielly – need I say more – protector and one hunky of a man. Charlie needs protection from a very nasty serial killer and Cane is right there all the way. Throw in a couple of con artist / thieves who are looking for that last big score and not just in the bedroom / stairwell kind either. Blackout in Vegas…. what the hell do you do with all that around you?
This is a review for Stephanie St Klaire’s Close Encounters. This anthology takes place in Las Vegas during a blackout. Cane is a cousin from of the Brothers Keepers. Charlie got away from serial killer. Cane is her protector. Charlie is a survivor she knows her fears and has conquered them. Skye and Eddie are con artists that find themselves entangled with trying to protect Charlie . This is fast paced romance with just the right amount of heat and suspense. You cannot but fall in love with secondary characters of Skye and Eddie. Looking forwarding to seeing Cane and Charlie’s HEA. Also hoping that Skye and Eddie get their own story.
In this book you will get to meet some new characters and see appearances by some of everyone’s favorite family the O’Reillys. Cane O’Reilly is part of the Brothers Keepers team and is in charge of keeping Charlie safe from a killer she had previously escaped from. When a blackout in Vegas occurs Bk’s teams are already on the way to help Cane.
Close Encounter is full of suspense. Cane, of Brother’s Keeper Security, is in charge of protecting Charlie, the only surviving victim from a serial killer. He is also dealing with the antics of a PDA couple in his casino who are petty thieves (they are hilarious). A good read which ends in a cliffhanger which will continue in St. Klaire’s new series The Keeper Series coming later this year. Has suspense, steamy romance, interesting characters, and good plot.
Cane O’Reilly, a member of Brother’s Keeper Security, will do whatever it takes to protect Charlie Adams from Anson Deveraux, a wanted serial killer. There’s a blackout in Las Vegas and Deveraux is hunting Charlie, and he won’t stop until he gets her. This is edge of your seat suspense which will grab your attention from the beginning and keep you reading until the end. All the characters are engaging, and the storyline is gripping. The chemistry between Cane and Charlie is strong and enthralling. There is more to their story, but this is an amazing beginning.
OH. MY. LANTA.
So, SSK is back to her suspenseful ways with this one! This novella brought not only the heat, but also:
– suspense
– laughs
– love
– relatable, fun, interesting characters
One thing I love about this author’s stories, is the perfect mix of hot chemistry, great twists and turns, and that beauty of love that blossoms among the chaos. I’m always on the edge of my seat, wondering who might disappear next! Most definitely a great one!
