A mass murderer hides somewhere in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He has a deadly secret. And a bomb.
Tracker Aroostine Higgins and Special Agent Patton River Banks have a strained relationship. But, when Aroostine picks up the trail of a fugitive during a visit to Clingmans Dome, she and the National Park Services criminal investigator have no choice but to work together.
Alan Steven … work together.
Alan Steven Reynolds has been on the run for years—ever since he helped engineer one of the country’s deadliest bombings. When Roo finds evidence that he’s hiding out in the park’s 800 square miles of dense forests, she and Patton join forces to find him.
They aren’t the only ones looking for Reynolds, though. He’s been active during his time underground, and a new client has explosive reasons to stop him from talking to the authorities.
Roo and Patton are in a race against time and a shadowy enemy. They need to bring Reynolds in before his partner brings him down, along with anyone else who happens to be in the woods.
Clingmans Dome is the sixth book in USA Today bestselling author Melissa F. Miller’s smart, fast-paced Aroostine Higgins series.

Any book written by Melissa Miller is fantastic! Aroostine is a great character, the setting of this novel—as well as all of the other series novels—comes alive, and the plot will keep you reading well into the night.
I really liked reading Clingmans Dome. It was a fun read. I liked it so much that I read it in two days. It has a little bit of everything in it, a murder, a terrorist, a celebration and a romance. It is one of Melissa Miller’s best thrillers yet. Trust me, it is a good, clean, thriller that you will enjoy.
Happy reading!
A “banging” good book. Love the direction Ms. Miller is taking Aroostine. The book was fast paced, engrossing and entertaining as always. The Smokey Mountains setting was great. Nice to “travel” a bit when it isn’t a real option at this time. 🙂 As always, there is mystery and intrigue. I find the art of Aroostine’s tracking amazing. This book is my favorite in the series thus far. Can’t wait for the next one!
Not being from America, I really didn’t know anything about the Great Smoky Mountains, or Clingmans Dome, so I learned some new things whilst reading this one!
Aroostine teaches a class for park rangers on tracking, then puts her skills to use tracking a notorious fugitive – a man in hiding for many years, after blowing up a building that killed a large number of people. Unfortunately for Roo (& Pat), someone else is also looking for this man, and messes with their investigation.
I find all the books in this series really interesting, covering subjects and places that I know little about, so I always feel like I’m learning as I read, which I enjoy. This was another great addition to the series, and I look forward to seeing where the next one will take Roo.

Could it be the fugitive after 11 years. Would be a good lesson for some rangers on tracking him, Agent Pat Banks agrees, and with her leading it.
Good flowing plot, giving us more about Aroostine, the tools of observing, and tracking was interesting, the suspense, intriguing story, a hint of romance,
and a good series.
