These days, finding love online is as commonplace as ordering that coveted sweater. But back in 2003, the whole concept of internet dating was still quite new, with a stigma attached to it that meant those who were willing to test the waters faced a fair amount of skepticism from friends and family.
Such is the case for Chloe Thompson, a restless 20-something tired of the typical dating scene … dating scene and curious about what she might find inside her parents’ computer. With two serious but failed relationships behind her, Chloe isn’t even entirely sure what she’s looking for. She just knows that whatever it is, she wants to find it.
Based loosely on author K. J. Farnham’s real-life online dating experiences, Chloe’s foray into online dating involves a head-first dive into a world of matches, ice breakers and the occasional offer of dick pics, all while Chloe strives to shake herself of the ex who just refuses to disappear. Will she simultaneously find herself and “the one” online, or will the ever-growing pile of humorous and downright disastrous dates only prove her friends and family right? There’s only one way to find out…

•A lighthearted and fun read. Chloe learns to accept herself as she navigates her way through online dating fails and the stigma associated with it in its early days. Her cast of friends are as much fun as the funny dating tales.
Such a great book. Jess is lonely and her friend buys her 3 months of online dating site. You go through many dates but she falls for Sawyer and he’s unavailable but they have a connection a friendship and romantic thing. Tho Sawyer is married but separated and Jess said never again will she be with a married man. There’s other guys that Jess …
It was an okay book. If someone was looking for a recommendation, this book wouldn’t cross my mind.
This book is funny and a great plot! Jess is on a hunt to find a man on internet dating after a disaster happens in her life. This book is cute and I enjoyed it! I laughed and even shed some tears.
3.5
I was really looking forward to this book. I thought it was going to be a RomCom, but it was more a series of unfortunate dating drama. Chloe is very codependent trying to be independent, IMO. She wants to see what’s out there, but listens to everyone else’s take on her life without trying to figure out how SHE feels.
I really tried to like …
This is a great story with a flashback to on-line dating. I have never personally tried on-line dating, but after reading this book, I think Chloe would be me. I laughed at the characters and the profiles that they had created for themselves. For me, it was a great read with a light-hearted take on the adventures of on-line dating, including the …
The main characters were fairly unlikeable and bitchy.
Great book for a beach read!! I thought it was non fiction until I got to the end. Fun and light read!
Not what I was expecting. Reading this book was depressing, and as someone whose family has dealt with the ravages of alcoholism, I feel that there is entirely too much drinking in this book.
I thought this book would be an amusing look at the early 90’s and the inception of online dating. Instead I stopped reading after her first bad date. My 13 year old daughter persevered, and ultimately found the ending disappointing.
Very long read. I actually skipped a few pages (okay, maybe more than a few), but it was very long winded. Too much detail and got bored. It was good but there’s definitely better reads out there.
Love this one, definitely a good read!
Enjoyed the insight on on line dating
Interesting concept, but didn’t quite deliver.
Not bad but not the best-written story. However, the characters grew on me as the book went on and I finished it with satisfaction.
Couldn’t finish. Too boring.
Reading about a loose young woman that drinks way too much and ends up having sex after she’s passed out isn’t my type of book!
So much more than the light, funny read I was expecting. This one was also somewhat thought-provoking and written in a very sincere manner. While it’s definitely more geared toward twenty-somethings, anyone who’s ever been through the ups and downs of dating can probably relate. Interesting ending!
Couldn’t finish it. Dry, predictable, unappealing characters.
This book was very relatable. I myself have spent time in the online dating world, and this book is a very real depiction of what it was like. Nothing spectacular, but I don’t regret spending the time reading it.
