Jake Callahan has a problem, and the only people who can fix it are the guys with Pierce Securities. Except Jake needs a woman. Miriam Bartoli will happily play the part of a sexy woman to get what the client needs, especially since playing mom to an office full of alpha males and recent surgery has wreaked havoc on her femininity. Can she fight her attraction with the target long enough to get … get what the client needs? Or will this case of mistaken identity and clicking with the wrong man be the end of her?

This book has a little of everything. She has a double mastectomy to avoid breast cancer and she returns to work at a security company as office mgr and house mom. They ask her to go undercover for a client to find out what he did with the money he scammed from his parents. The client is his twin brother but she doesn’t know that
Cute story
plot about twins so opposite in character but look so much alike people can’t tell apart???
I was at a disadvantage as I started this with Book 3-“Click”. I didn’t have the background on the folks that make-up Piece Securities or a clear understanding of the company’s purpose.
The main characters (Jack & Miriam) are two very likable, loyal, and hardworking people. You would think a photographer and an office manager with similar values that share a mutual sexual attraction would be able to develop a normal romantic relationship. That would not be the case for these two, as Miriam and Jack’s relationship is confusing from day one, as they have to deal with a variety of issues to include: Mistaken Identity, Evil Twin vs. Good Twin, Elective Double Mastectomy, Femininity & Sexuality, Single Fatherhood, Under-Cover Agent, Drug Lords, Gun Running, and Violent Behaviors. So, this is not a typical relationship and that is what makes this book intriguing.
Each book of the Pierce Security series are awesome reads. However, Click is a very emotional tear-jerker the easily keeps the decaffeinated til the end.
I really liked this book. It’s clever, steamy and entertaining. A bit of action/ suspense to round it out. Very enjoyable.
Another good one
Mariam has always taken care of the guys, but this time she took 3 weeks off to take care of herself. She hasn’t told the guys she has a double mastectomy to avoid getting cancer like the one her mom & aunt died from. Jake has hired the guys to find out what bad things his brother is doing. Keep reading.
Great characters and storyline!
Update February, 2019
Re-read a purchased copy and the editing is indeed, on point. Continuity in this one is better than in Craze and Wire so I’d say both the author and the editor have improved at their respective crafts.
Still a super fun, addictive read!
4 stars.
**Original Read below**
Cover: Professionally done, relevant. Fits with the rest of the series.
Editing/Proofing: Cannot say since I have an ARC, however what I’ve read of Conley’s has all been well-edited.
Formatting:
Gorgeous as always – love that she uses ebook builders consistently because I know it’ll be easy on the eyes.
Plot/ Reading Experience:
Finally! As a follower of this series, Miriam has increasingly become and remained a mystery so I’m ecstatic that Click is finally here and I get to figure out what her deal is.
When the book opens, I am hooked- even more so than its predecessors and it’s exciting. This one stars out with a dramatic, action-y, potentially violent scene unlike the others and I love it! It goes on to bring the reader through all kinds of scandal, romantic drama, messed-up-drug-dealer-drama, personal drama – awesome! I love me some drama.
Conley does a great job with continuity and keeping the characters’ consistent with what we’ve seen so far. This is a really fun series to be hooked into – the dynamic of the security agency, its clients and employees alike is never dull and their cases remain suspenseful.
I like how this one addressed some real, relatable issues – I feel this was very well done.
Highly recommend the whole series.
*I received an ARC of this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
