I thought I had it all – the perfect life, with the perfect arrangement, with the perfect guy.To the world, Kevin Peyton is the heartthrob Oscar nominee. To me, he’s my best friend, with some sexy benefits. But then I got a taste of his world. A world where being mobbed by fans, violated by intruders, and stripped of all privacy is the norm. I never realized how brutal being in the spotlight would … the spotlight would be.
I didn’t fit into his world. I didn’t fit into his plans. I only wish I’d discovered that before falling in love with him and changing the game plan.
Sometimes changing the game plan changes more than the game. Sometimes it changes your everything.

This is definitely a complex relationship with both distance and feelings. The characters are strong and lovable and had me wanting to smack them at times and just admit their feelings to each other. I really enjoyed both the writing and narration of this book.
Audiobook version:
I really enjoyed this book. It had great characters, good drama, and great writing! Erin Mallon, once again, was a perfect joy to listen to. She is an insta-buy narrator.
This story is sweet and sexy but also poignant, emotional, and passionate. There is just something about having a glimpse into the private lives of very public figures that is so captivating. Kevin and Claire have been best friends for years before their relationship grew into a more passionate one. Neither is ready for a commitment and with Kevin’s acting career taking off, they aren’t ready for the world to know they are lovers as well. Claire works hard at her families business and she always puts others first. When Kevin needs her to join him on location, she doesn’t hesitate. But soon their privacy gets invaded and Kevin will do anything to protect her. Their relationship has always been fun and easy, so what happens when one heart wants more than the other? Can life go on when the one who has always been by your side wants different things? I really cared for Kevin and Claire, they were so perfect together, so it was heartbreaking to watch the turmoil their relationship went thru as I was cheering for their HEA.
The narration by Erin Mallon was so perfect as she brought these smart, strong, sexy characters to life. She easily illuminated their wit, passion, and vulnerability, making Kevin, Claire, and their world completely real. I really enjoyed this moving, funny and steamy romance!
Cliche is a best friends with benefits to more story involving Claire who works for her family business, and Kevin, a hot shot actor who has been Claire’s bestie for as long as they can remember. Somewhere along the way, their friendship evolved into a friendship with benefits situation because it was easier to be intimate with each other considering the ease of their friendship…. until the day Claire wanted more and Kevin couldn’t give it to her….or could he?
Cliche is a fun and sexy book with lots of laughter and chemistry. I loved Kevin and Claire’s relationship and how much of a bond and connection they shared and how deep their friendship went. I love how much Kevin wanted to protect Claire, even if maybe I didn’t agree with his methods. I struggled a little bit with Claire’s relationship with her sister and that aspect of the story. It seemed somewhat out of place and a large decision based maybe on a whim after the fallout with Kevin, but I am happy that things worked out really well for everyone.
I really enjoy the author’s writing style and I overall enjoyed the story line. I was very engaged in the book from start to finish as I really wanted to know if Claire and Kevin were going to get their happily ever after. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Wow, this is my first Ryleigh Sloan romance, and it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed Kevin and Claire’s story, but there were some definitely difficult bumps in their road to a happily-ever-after.
Kevin and Claire are long time friends, and they have a ‘friends with benefits’ arrangements that suits them just fine because neither is looking for love. Until they are. Until Claire realizes that she’s always loved Kevin, but it takes him a bit longer to realize that he’s not just being protective of a friend, and maybe he doesn’t need to protect her from the world, but instead be there to experience it with her.
This was a really emotional story, with lots of obstacles in their way, but none of them are insurmountable. The passage of time, however, makes them both doubtful of the other’s feelings.
As always, Erin Mallon does a phenomenal job narrating and brining this story to life. She brings so much emotion to the table as she embodies Claire’s concerns, her thoughts, her insecurities and her emotions. It really enhances the story.
Let me start by saying this book has blown me away and I never would have guessed this was a debut novel, so congrats on killing it Ryleigh.
This book gives you the friendship, lust, jealousy, mixed feelings, love, hot sex, there’s also a serious side to the story, some parts had me crying like a baby, then there’s the author’s sense of humour comes shining through in the characters and their banter.
SOME SPOILERS

I loved everything about this story. Friends to lovers is only the beginning! Claire and Kevin have been friends forever, but can Claire fit into the life Kevin leads? I loved how Kevin made it work for them. He is able to keep things private so when things heat up, it is just between Claire and Kevin. This was a glimpse into what it would be like to date a star. I completely felt as if I was a part of this story as I got sucked into their world. THis is a fun, romantic and sexy story that is a must read for all romance fans.
Erin Mallon’s performance is flawless. Her sweet voice brings out the sweetness and innocence to the world of fame that Claire has. I could not imagine a better narrator for Claire. Ms. Mallon has a great male voice as well. She narrated Kevin exactly as I imagined him. Erin Mallon brought this story to life and enhanced its experience.
This is the first book I’ve read by Ryleigh Sloan and I really liked the writing style. I would be interested in reading more by this author. I didn’t really connect with the characters though, so I wanted to give the story 3.5 stars. I would recommend Cliche to fans of contemporary romance, especially those with more extended timelines (not love at first sight).
I listened to the audible version and I thought Erin Mallon’s narration was great.

Kevin Peyton, Hollywood heartthrob , every woman’s dream. and he was Claire’s best friend. They were friends since childhood, and stayed friends, very best friends , friends with benefits, but is that all it is? They shared everything , hopes, dreams, secrets, drama in their lives, Will it stay that way? Claire always told Kevin she didn’t understand his life in the limelight and paparazzi around him all the time. It wasn’t until he had a relationship with Kayley, pop singer , that Claire knew her true feelings. Kevin told her it was a fake one, but with social media stories, how could she believe it? This story is funny, thanks to granny, steamy, and emotional. This is first book by Ryleigh Sloane I’ve ever listened to. Erin Mallon narration is flawless and flows smoothly between the characters. She shows all the emotions and feelings and gives each character their own personality. I thoroughly enjoyed listening this story.

Are you sure this is a debut novel? This well written, entertaining friends with benefits to lovers story is so much fun! Claire and Kevin have been best friends forever, and friends with benefits for years. Kevin, a successful Hollywood actor and Claire running her family business each have their own careers, but when together the sparks fly. Now as feelings change, will their relationship survive? I absolutely loved this story. Kevin is a wonderful man, and even though in the public eye does his best to keep his private life private. Claire is fun, flirty and has all the emotions attached that I would too! They are magic together, and I love the fun banter. The family dynamic between Claire and her sister, Kim is so realistic and their secondary story is beautiful. Sloan has a winning combination of characters and I loved it!
Erin Mallon brings their story to life, enhancing it with her talent. She truly can find the personalities of the characters, hone in and make them real with her voices. I loved her performance, as always!

I didn’t think I could love Ryleigh any more than I did after I read The Dark Side of Chemistry, then I read Cliche…what an amazing story, and friendship between Kevin and Claire. I loved this book so much, I’m not gonna say anything more other than do yourself a favor and read this book!! Thank you Ryleigh for sharing these stories with us…I love you to the moon and back, and can’t wait to see what you give us next!!
Wow!
I love the chemistry between the characters.
The heat level is scorching.
Hooked from page 1 and definitely recommend this book!
This was a good read.
I started this book yesterday and stayed up all night to finish it at 5am! I could not put it down! This was just the best book! This is Ryleigh’s debut book and I am now a Super Fangirl! Cliche was a Best Friends to Lovers Romance told in just the right way that you were submerged in their lives with them!
Kevin and Claire grew up together in South Africa as best friends and grew into friends with benefits. And oh boy were those benefits hot ! When Kevin eventually moved to the States pursuing his acting career, they still kept up their relationship, texting and talking nearly daily and him frequently coming home. I loved them together, you could tell how much they loved and cared for each other. Even with all the fame and the Oscar nomination that Kevin got, he still did so much for underprivileged children. Claire, too, had a heart of gold and did so much for others, even for her sister who was quite a piece of work.
But when Claire can’t handle the paparazzi and jealousy rears it’s ugly head at the fake relationship Kevin and beautiful actress Haley are enacting to protect her, (or is it real?) she confesses to Kevin that she is in love with him. This was the most heartbreaking part of the book to me. Things spiral out of control and bad decisions are made by both of them, but things are set in motion that will change lives forever. This book made me feel good, cry ugly tears, and laugh. It’s that great.
You have to read this book!! I promise you will be blown away by Ryleigh’s amazing talent and be waiting like me for her next book out the end of this month!!!! Wish I could give this book 10 STARS!!!!
Such a steamy friends to lovers story. Claire and Kevin are best friends and it’s obvious to everyone around them there is so much more than just friendship. Claire decides to proclaim her love for Kevin but he can’t say the same. After Claire pushes Kevin away he realize he’s always loved her. They get their happily ever after they deserve.
This book was amazing Ryleigh Sloan is amazing! This book had everything and them some!
Kevin and Claire have been best friends since childhood. Claire helps run the family business and Kevin landed am acting career. Living to different live completely opposite each other their friends ship and what they share is unbreakable untill the coin flips and Claire realizes she is in love with Kevin. Will this make or break them?
I enjoyed this fun and emotional romance. I was pleasantly surprised by how compelling I found this book. I thought the author did a very good job of taking the basic friends with benefits turns to love trope and used a storyline that added complications that increased the interest factor and helped to create deeper layers to the characters. There is a lot of emotion and tension in this book. The struggle between the hearts and minds of Kevin and Claire takes you and them on quite the roller coaster ride. I was charmed by Kevin’s need to protect Claire and I could completely relate to Claire’s fears and to her being a giver. They came across as genuine and very likable. This read is sweet, heartbreaking and steamy.
This book was such a fun read! I absolutely loved everything about this book.
Kevin lets Claire no he wasn’t seeing anyone in the months he was away, you go on dates and they want to be exclusive. Claire doesn’t’ know when they decided to be friends with benefits, but it worked for them and Claire never felt more content then in his arms.
After being questioned about her and Kevin, Claire says they are best friends and not in love, but after she realises that she’s falling in love with him and that will change everything.
Not being able to say no, when Kevin asks her to fly over for the Oscars she says yes, he explains that he’s solved the press problem by becoming a fake couple with Hayley Stephens.
Seeing Kevin and Hayley at the concert, Claire knows she has to let him know how see feels, but when he says he can’t be what she needs, Claire knows she has to go home.
Slowly they get back to talking to each other as friends again, but with everything going on it hurt to talk to him and everything she wanted to tell him she couldn’t, and she just can’t talk to him anymore and decides to take an offer from her brother-in-law and cut Kevin from her life.
Claire can’t be more surprised when Kevin shows up, learning that her Nan told him what was happening, but after talking with Hayley she knows she has to confront Kevin, but will it give her closer, or will they both admit they can’t live without each other.
This book was such a fun read! There is little drama but still has it’s fair share of trouble. Kevin and Claire are absolutely adorable, they are so sweet to each other. I love everything about them.
I recommend reading!
