Very intense and realistic look inside of the “War on Drugs”. Takes reader on America’s response to a powerful cartel’s attack on DEA, DHS and other bigwigs enroute to a meeting in Columbia. A real “edge of your seat” thrilller. Bravo, Tom Clancy!
I love all of the Jack Ryan books by Tom Clancy!
A great well written book
Full disclosure, I am a Clancy fan. I first read this book when if originally came out in print and found it very entertaining if somewhat disturbing on some levels. I found it easy to identify with many of the characters. I recently reread the book and was amazed at how entertaining it was the second time around. Those of you who saw the movie and have not read the book will be surprised at some of the differences.
From one of the masters of Cold War fiction, hard to put down! Another Clancy Classic.
An excellent read as were all of his books.
This book set a frantic pace. Between each side of the cold war,the heat about the missing submarine and the exciting finish, this was a great read.
One of Tom Clancy’s best. Jack Ryan is an inspirational hero taking on both the counter forces in Washington and the Columbian drug cartel. This was the largest selling book of the 80s and was made into an excellent movie starring Harrison Ford. Of course, the book is better.
Classic Tom Clancy.
Thought it would never end.
This book didn’t hold my interest at all. Too much military slang for this girl.
Much better than the movie
This episode in th Jack Ryan story is the one where Jack meets Mr Clark and the two of them must stop a President who has gone blithely down the garden path and straight into a Constitutional crises.
Too lengthy with excessive
detail in part.
A great read. I couldn’t put it down
A thriller based on political INTRIGUE that was in play during the time period it represents. Excellent characters that grow and expand as they move into each new move. I would recommend this to any serious reader
Clancy is always too wordy though – uses three words where one would relay the story
Great book, as all written by Tom Clancy prior to his death.
Tom Clancy is one of the best authors of action-packed adventures.
Love Nero Wolfe
