Everyone knows the rumors about Violet Circle and the crazy inhabitants, but becoming a resident was my best option. These are the kind of decisions you’re faced with when you have a baby at eighteen, and your knight in shining armor turns out to be a deadbeat dad in saggy boxers. Don’t get me wrong, my five-year-old son, Aiden, is the love of my life, even when he’s telling random strangers I’m … strangers I’m constipated, or lecturing his preschool friends on the differences in their anatomy. I wouldn’t trade him for anything, but raising him as a single parent while cleaning motel rooms for a living is like walking a balance beam made of sand. One wrong slip, and we’re homeless.
It doesn’t take us long to adjust to our new home with all its eccentric people, and Aiden is happy here, but danger lurks right across the street. Not in the apartment of the odd woman who always wears a floppy sun hat and trench coat, or the crazy apartment full of college kids. I wish it were that simple.
Neal Chambers, the single father who is ten years my senior, sets off alarms in my head.
Mainly because he sets off other things in my panties.
This is the third book in the Violent Circle Trilogy. It can also be read as a standalone.

Hilariously cute! I loved the comments made by the kids! They are so innocently hilarious!! And the Violent Circle crazy is never a let down! I can not wait to read more!
This. Book. Is. Hilarious!! I constantly had to wipe…my eyes with Angel soft, because I was laughing so hard that I ended up in tears. These characters are unforgettable, and this series just continues to get better and better. This may be my favorite one yet! I want all of my friends to check this book out, because it’s more than you would expect it to be. It’s EVERYTHING you need in a story that sticks with you like tissue at the bottom off your shoe… haha the potty humor just won’t stop!!
Clean Start was laugh your ass off funny. I absolutely loved the first two books in this series, and this one just maybe my favorite.
Neal and Victoria were great characters. Even though they had been dealt a shitty hand when it came to their exes, they were still making a good life for their kids. Neal’s daughter Bailey and Victoria’s son Aiden just add to the family dynamic that is formed between these two. Then when you add-in the others from Violent Circle and let the crazy begin. Of course the Frat Hell guys bring their chaos and their T-rex suite. And with Aiden stealing every scene that he’s in, you can’t help but laugh and hope you don’t pee a little while doing it.
I just couldnt put this one down., it was devoured in one sitting. But, of course when it comes to a SM Shade ROMCOM I wouldn’t expect anything less.
Outstanding finale for the gang at Violet “Violent” Circle. The author has done a fantastic job with this book, as well as the first two in the series, in both the storyline and the characters. The series stems around a low income housing area and the characters in it are the people that live on Violet Circle (which was vandalized to say “Violent” Circle), residents who are either down on their luck or the frat-house college boys. All of which are struggling financially but they are blessed with neighbors who are more like family than just neighbors.
Clean Start is Neal and Veronica’s story. Both are single parents who have put their personal happiness on hold while putting their children first (bothbring the only parent in their child’s lives). Neal is raising his daughter Bailey while Veronica is raising her son Aiden and trust me when I say the kids will steal your heart and have you smiling and laughing at their antics. As for Neal and Veronica, they are great friends who are secretly attracted to each other. However both are afraid to act on it or say anything for numerous reason (sorry you’ll just have to read the book and check out their “Logic”). But when the community center has a kids lock-in night, and Veronica and Neal are left alone with no kids for the first time in years, not to mention the Kegger set up in the park, all bets are off on the outcome.
This is one hilarious series and Clean Start is no acception. From sex toys, to pranks, to a butt joke telling kid to extremely embarrassing moments (such as going out the window in chocolate and whipped cream white boxers – causing one to look like they messed their pants), you won’t be able to keep the smile off your face or the laughter held inside. Kudos to the author for a job well done and 2 Thumbs Up for a fantastic book/series that I highly recommend reading. You won’t be sorry you did, it’s just that dang funny and good.
This book LITERALLY made me laugh out loud!!! . The residents of Violent Circle have again thoroughly entertained me. 2 single parents finding love with each other…. And the kids actually get along. . Yep. Neal and Veronica were friends helping each other out with the kids… And some other things also… No matter how much people say they won’t fall in love…. They do it anyway. But can they make the blended family work? Neal and Veronica definitely don’t take themselves too seriously, so that makes for a very entertaining courtship!
You absolutely want to pick up this final book in the Violent Circle series! It was just as great as I was hoping it would be!
Clean Start is by far the most laugh out loud and knee slapping funny of the Violent Circle Trilogy!! I couldnt read it fast enough and couldnt put it down. And note to self reading at 3am in bed with hubby sleeping is NOT a good idea. You would think I know this by now!!
Clean Start follows Neal and Veronica. Neal is seriously a little kid on a grown man’s body. Regardless of his age he fits right in with the Frat Hell guys!! Veronica is seriously a hoot! I absolutely love her sense of humor and how she speaks and handles her son. I seriously died with how funny and witty she and her son are. Jesus penises, schooling a grown man on an erection….lol…seriously the best!!!
I am loving this series and the more I read the more I want to live in Violent Circle.
A great read.
This is the third book in the Violent Circle series. It can be read as a stand alone but why do that when you can read the other books and enjoy the sexy, snark and fun of all the characters that live in this Complex, well little small town. Scarlet Toys and Frat Hell are the first two books and in Clean Start we get introduced to a new character and her cute son Aiden. These books just get funnier and funnier the more I read them. Who knew how funny a pre-school boy could be, I mean i do have two girls and 2 granddaughters myself. If you want laugh out loud funny reads but at the same time a good sexy read as well this is the book NO not just that, i highly recommend the Violent Circle series!
Firstly the cover is simply awesome! I love the colours and the humour behind it. It just suits the story perfectly! The story started a bit slow as it’s a glimpse into the lives of some ‘normal’ people and their everyday lives. That is what made the story feel so much more ‘real’. The author’s quirky characters, clever wordplay and voicing the embarrassing thoughts and experiences we all have into this story makes you laugh out loud and realise how darn true some statements are. The characters don’t shy away from anything nor do they hold back. I absolutely loved this book!
Omg!! This is the 3rd book in her series and let me tell you I fell in love with aiden. For him being young his mouth well let’s just say it’s funny through it all. You have Neal and Veronica both single parents and we go through there life with ofc everyone at Violet Circle. We even see some characters from the other books. I couldn’t stop laughing all through reading. Finished it in one seating!!! You want comedy and an amazing book look no further!! Violent circle series are number 1
Can I just say that Veronica and Neal are single parent romcom/romance novel relationship goals & single parent goals! They crack me up, make me want to start hanging out at car washes, and I constantly have to not say “Jesus Penis” than those who act holier than thou. Their kids are fabulous, and Aiden is going to need a book when he grows up, but these two help each other out, even when “just friends”…
While both have their pasts, and their are issues to be dealt with, the love, humor and enjoyment shine.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is probably best for adults because of sexual content.
The story is excellent. There is humor. There love and romance. The Frat Hell guys always add to the story. This gives us more about the single father Neil and introduces us to the new character from book 2, Veronica.
I have read and loved all three of these books.
Love the frat boys
The residents of Violent Circle never fail to disappoint! The shenanigans are plentiful, laughs non stop and the characters come to life on the pages. I would love to be a resident and be a part of it all first hand. SM makes you feel as if you are sitting on your front porch watching as everything unfolds. Neal and Veronica are my favorite couple.
This is the hilarious conclusion to the Violent Circle series and it made me laugh out loud. The things that come out of the mouth of a five year old boy will keep you rolling as his mother tries to have a night out with grownups.
Clean Start is the third and final book in the Violent Circle trilogy and it is just as funny as the first two!! There are so many highlights in my copy of this book because I absolutely loved it!!
Neal and Veronica are both single parents who are extremely attracted to one another but don’t want to risk a relationship in case it doesn’t work out to spare their children’s feelings. But the more time they spend together the harder it is to avoid crossing that line… until one night they finally do.
Watching Neal, Veronica, Bailey, and Aiden become a family is a journey that you don’t want to miss! I cannot express how much I recommend you read this book!! 5 stars truly isn’t enough, great job S.M. Shade!!!
To be honest, I think S.M. Shade is the only author that can get away putting a toilet brush on a book cover, haha. This cover fits the trilogy perfectly!
The final installment of this trilogy is about Neal and Veronica. Both of them live in Violet Circle. It’s not the best neighborhood, but it’s something they can afford. Just like in the other two books, the management is still nuts and doing a lot of things that aren’t allowed. Neal is planning on helping them and gets a lawyer to check everything out. Veronica just moved in with her five year old son and is doing her best. As a single mom, it isn’t easy, but she’s making it work.
Neal is a character we have read about in the other two books, so I was happy when I read he would be getting his story. He is a single father to his eleven year old daughter and is slowly figuring out what it will mean to have a teenager. His life in Violent Circle is always interesting, but he’s been working hard and may be leaving soon.
Neal and Veronica become good friends and help each other when it comes to their children. Both of them are missing a parent of course, so the helping hand is really imporant. For example, when Neal wanted to take his daughter to the emergency room when she starts her period, haha. Or Veronica has to explain why there is a fake penis stuck to the bathroom wall when she’s cleaning a hotel room. These are only a few of the many hilarious moments his book has to offer.
Clean Start makes you laugh out loud and hope that the characters get their happily ever after. Both Neal and Veronica don’t want to give in to their attraction, because they know what their children will lose if they end up breaking up. Along the way, with some help from Violent Circle, they realize they can look out for themselves at times as well. Their children know more than they realize. If you want to read a book with wonderful characters and neighbors that are willing to fight for eachother, this is the series for you. On top of that, laughing out loud moments and some romance as well. I’m sad this is the last installment in this anything but normal neighborhood. I hope the author visits these characters again in the future.
I totally loved the series from the start. They are funny and I love the antics of the boys from Frat Hell. I hope they well be more from those guys.
I really enjoyed the final book in the Violent Circle Trilogy! I loved the story between V and Neal. The whole story between to single parents finding love again pulls at my heart strings. I love the laughs that S.M. Shade brings into her books! I love a good book that can literally make me laugh out loud and thats what her books do! V and Neal literally fight what they are feeling through this book, but you can just tell that they both are missing something that they both truly need in there lives. They both seem to always be there for the other and are the others missing person. Even Neal’s daughter can see it! I highly recommend reading this book along with all the others in this series!! I loved it along with all the others!!
People will say “Oh, I loved this book”. They’d be telling the truth. But they wouldn’t have loved it as deep as my love for this book. This book has it all…yeah, yeah people say that about books but it’s true! You want to laugh until your sides hurt and you shake the bed laughing so hard, your husband wakes up and says “put the #^$?*%& down and go to sleep” that’s how hard you’ll laugh. You’ll also mist up at some scenes about their pasts. Most of all, you’ll feel warm and toasty because this book leaves you fulfilled yet you’ll never want it to end. I loved this series. Each one was better than the last. All are stand alone books so you won’t feel you’re missing something if you start here. But get the other two in the series because they’re great rom-coms as well. So yes, sure, “I loved this book,”.
