Unwelcoming townspeople, murder, and a disappearance – it must mean that Gabby and her team are investigating again. While checking out the last known location of team member Evie’s foster mother before she disappeared, Gabby and her crew meet a lot of unwelcoming townspeople and learn about a murder that happened in the small town of Shady Valley. Can they discover what is happening in this town before someone else disappears? Another great supense read from Christy Barritt.
I received a preview copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
Gabby never fails in an investigation even when all odds are against her and the cold case team. This adventure is no exception but the town is colder than Siberia and disappearance of Evie’s foster mom leaves little clues. The team is put to the ultimate test in a world of danger.
Christy Barritt’s Squeaky Clean Mysteries fans will adore more from a favorite civilian detective and her colleagues.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
I had a BETA copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I enjoyed the plot and the characters in this book. Christy does a great job with the story line and character development. It kept me guessing until near the end as to who the killer was.
I am really enjoying the cold case files with Gabby and Clean Break is no exception. Gabby and her team are trying to find out what happened to Angela — Evie’s foster mother. They don’t have much time and this case is proving to far deeper than they ever anticipated. What is really happening in this — seemingly — sleepy little town?
Clean Break is the last installment in the Squeaky Clean mysteries. Gabby and her Cold Case Squad have taken on a very personal mission: they are going to find out what happened to Evie’s foster mother. One day, Evie’s mom just disappeared and now cynical Evie is frantic. Sherman, with his techno-wizardry and Gabby with her intuitive nose for details put their skills to the test. Their journey brings them to a small, rural area where visitors are not welcome. The local law enforcement refuses to help and Gabby finds herself wondering if they will have enough time to find Evie’s mom before they are ejected from the town. All in all, there are a few mysteries and the team has to untangle them to find the real perpetrator. It was a spellbinding book and the mystery was extremely well written!
Gabby is the first Christy Barritt character that I got to know, about 5 or 6 years ago, and since then she has become my favorite character. So it was great fun to return to Gabby’s world in this 15th installment of sleuthing with Gabby. She is older now, happily married, and still solving cases, albeit with a team of detectives, and with the support of Riley, not on her own. This time, the Cold Case Squad travel to Pennsylvania to find a missing person. Gabby’s journey, her quirky friends, and her supportive husband, as well as another mystery, all add up to another fun read!
The whole series is so enjoyable. Great characters. It’s a fun read and nice not to have to worry about swear words, too much sex without being preachy.
I haven’t read all of the Squeaky clean books up to this book but I know that a really like the main character, Gabby. She started off as a crime scene “cleaner” and is now investigating crimes with her small team. Gabby is a fun, quirky character but gets the job done in this story. She helps her friend Evie find her missing foster mom. There is a lot of intertwining of incidents throughout the book that lead them to an amazing ending. Highly recommended this easy, fun read.
