When Mary Beth McIntire settles into a vacation house on June 2, 2017, she anticipates a quiet morning with coffee. Then she hears a noise, peers out a window, and spots a man in 1950s attire standing in the backyard. She panics when the trespasser sees her and enters the house though a door to the basement. She questions her sanity when she cannot find him.In the same house on March 21, 1959, … 21, 1959, Mark Ryan finds a letter. Written by the mansion’s original owner in 1900, the letter describes a basement chamber, mysterious crystals, and a formula for time travel. Driven by curiosity, Mark tests the formula twice. On his second trip to 2017, he encounters a beautiful stranger. He meets the woman in the window.
Within hours, Mary Beth and Mark share their secret with her sister and his brother and begin a journey that takes them from the present day to the age of sock hops, drive-ins, and jukeboxes. In CLASS OF ’59, the fourth book in the American Journey series, four young adults find love, danger, and adventure as they navigate the corridors of time and experience Southern California in its storied prime.

This is the first time I’ve read/listened by John Heldt. It won’t be the last enjoyed this very much.
The narrator brought the story to life.
This Audiobook was given to me for free at my request from the publisher, author or narrator and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
A fun read that lets one experience the ‘fabulous 50’s’ in a new way.
Not as well thought out as previous novels.
It was okay, I expected more history I think
Great author. I think I’ve read most of his books and I love his work.
a great Time Travel writer. love his books so far.
I’m always intrigued with the potential story lines in time-travel novels, but this one disappoints when the focus predictably turns to romantic interests. We need more writing like King’s “11-22-63.”
It brought back many good memories of the 1950’s.
Great idea for a book but dropped my interest from time to time.
I loved this book! It was exciting & different. Just had to read 1 more page & then another to find out what would happen next.
I could not get into this book. I was born in ’54 and looked forward to the story, but was disappointed. It was predictable and not interesting enough to finish it.
I thought I would love this book. The 50’s intrigue me and time travel is usually a favourite. Too simplistic. Characters that do unbelievably stupid things. I didn’t bother to finish the book.
I was curious to see what would happen, but found it to be boring. Too bland.
I didn’t finish this. I was too much like back to the future and I ‘ve already seen all three of them.
Glad God doesn’t allow time travel, so possible to screw up the world. Some high tension. I always skip that part.
The fourth book in this time travelling series is just as entertaining as the first three books. The characters are believable and it is easy to see how things can get out of hand. The slower pace of life in 1959 is fully explored. Looking forward to the next book. Happy reading! Highly recommend!
It was fun reading about the year 1959 and what life was like then. I was born in 1948 so I can remember then. The story kept you wondering what was going to happen, I had to keep reading to see what did happen so I had the book read in a couple of days. I highly recommend the book.
Nice characters, siblings, and action packed, at a slowed down 50’s pace. An interesting time travel book, in that it goes back to a time that I remember as a young person. So a bit reminiscent for myself, of how it was, as well as ‘how it is now’ interspersed. Also has some intensity here and there.
It was a good 1 day read. Although it’s hard to find a new mechanism for time travel, this portal worked well. It was a good blend of characters with a touch of suspense, some humor and a love story.
A fun time-travel book with interesting characters. I enjoyed it.
