“Clam Jam”Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block.Example: You’re chatting with a guy you’re interested in and your friend comes along and lays claim to him.MaggieThat’s my life—except it’s worse. My friend who keeps “jamming” me is my gay roommate and if that isn’t a W.T.F. moment, I’m not sure what is.Fact: He went home with three—yes, three—of the guys I had been so sure were into me. guys I had been so sure were into me.
Fact: He’s really pissing me off. I mean, hello? I’m trying to get back in the saddle, but I’ll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of fifty if he keeps this up.
Fact: Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren’t gay. Why do all the hot, sweet, tender-hearted guys have to be gay?
Fact: My gay-dar needs a serious tune-up.
Ry
The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met “the girl”, except there was one small problem: she didn’t want anything to do with men. I recognized a top-notch force field when I saw one. She’d been burned badly and didn’t want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could’ve turned around and found another place to live, but I wanted to live there—with her.
So I had to go “undercover”.
Fact: I’m in love with my roommate.
Fact: I’m a likely candidate for carpal tunnel surgery since all the action I’ve had for the past year has been my hand.
Fact: She’s going to hate me if I come clean now.
Fact: I’m not giving up. Which means, I’ll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the “real” me.
The me that loves her.
The me that would never do her wrong.
Until then, I’ll keep running off every guy who shows any interest.
Until then, I’ll continue to CLAM JAM.

A love at first sight and result is pretending to be gay to be near the woman. The story is cute and funny. The interaction between characters is great. Definitely didn’t stop until the happy ending. Much enjoyed.
Very funny and a good read. Loved it.
I thought this book was funny. I look forward to reading the next book in this series
This novel came to my attention because the plot is different like “normal” romance novels. It was really amazing the way Ryland, Ry, posed as a gay to gain Maggie’s friendship, trust and love. The only problem is that how he will manage to tell Maggie the truth without losing her trust.
It was really nice the napkins messages between them. For me, this novel made me laugh a lot. The way Ry “clam jammed” Maggie again and again and again to avoid her to get involved with other men and how he “staked” her using the binoculars and watching her from his office.
My only question, how Maggie wasn’t able to notice that Ry and Jack weren’t gays and a couple? Anyways, I had really funny mental images trying to imagine Ry and Jack posing as a couple.
I really love this book and can’t wait to continue reading books from R.C. Boldt.
Predictable story line but characters that were likable.
This book was good, but not very realistic.
Not worth a read. I found the language distasteful.
The hero we all wish we had. Wonderful characters.
3.5 Stars
Temtorture is what this was all about. Temptation and torture through the whole book. I loved the main characters, their quirkiness and fun interactions along with their best friends.
The first 75% was a lot of fun, hilarious, couldn’t put it down but after that? As much as I liked the story, I kind of just wanted it all to finally end. I think it was drawn out much more than I would have personally preferred.
Now don’t get me wrong, it may sound like I didn’t enjoy it which I did but there is a large chunk of story between 75-87% that just could have been removed and the HEA not so short.
I don’t regret reading this book, it didn’t discourage me from reading the next one. It just isn’t one of my favorites.
I started off doing a read along with the audiobook but after a bit I DNF.
Ry’s voice in my head should have been deeper. It just didn’t seem to match his personality.
I struggled a few places since the audio had extra dialogue than the book which threw me completely off. At one part a whole page was added dialogue and removed the other detail in the book. It was confusing.
Separate and not reading along would have been fine but I occasionally enjoy both.
I had read Blue Balls first, I know I’m backwards but I read it a while back now and I knew there was a story for Ry and Mags. I saw this one sitting on my TBR waiting for a cool rainy day and thought why not add the audio to go with it. So I did.
Both these books are written with plenty of humor and loads of banter. Mags wouldn’t be best friends with Sarah if they didn’t have the same wicked comic internal dialogue. And it cracks me up, big time. Even from the opening paragraph waiting for everyone to catch up with the term Clam Jam. Too funny. Maggie relies on her friends as her parents are now passed, and Sarah is her closest person. But Mags still wants someone to cuddle at night, especially after her ex fiancé cheats on her. And now she needs a new roommate, and it’s at this point that Ryland James, who has been crushing on Mags for some time, can make his move and build a strong relationship with her…. but he blurts out he’s gay. It’s not here per se that I had a problem, it is the length of time that it took him to come clean and confess why he was compelled to say it. It takes months and intimate moments to go by before he gets caught out. I’m also disappointed on the time it takes for Mags to forgive him, I didn’t want him to suffer terribly but a bit longer would have been more realistic. I suppose for me, I would have like that he get caught out early in the storyline and then we see him win her trust back and watch their relationship grow that way, in a more honest approach. But all in all, it’s a great story and had me snorting many times.
I couldn’t put the book down. I laughed through out the whole story. There is HEA too.
Very entertaining and I read it in one day.
I laughed while reading this book and it was enjoyable
Great story, thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. Likeable characters. I recommend this book.
This story had so much to offer. Firstly, it is hilarious! R C Boldt has one seriously crazy sense of humour. I laugh snorted through most of this book. Lead and secondary characters are wonderful and you wish they were you’re friends. I was rooting for Ry the whole way through, he is a soft hearted romantic.
Oh. My. Gosh. If you are into chick flicks you’ll love this one! This is the first RC Boldt book that I’ve read. I wasn’t sure about it, but the reviews were good and the book blurb was enticing. I love rom-coms. This one reads just like a rom-com film. There are even references for rom-com movies in here.
Ry is the perfect book boyfriend! Maggie is a little lost after finding her fiancé in a compromising (to say the least) position (operative word there). Maggie quickly kicks him to the curb and is in the market for a new roomie. Ry sees the ad, has had his eye on Maggie (because he knows she’s “the one.”), and sees his opportunity. But, he needs to play a role to put her at ease with him being her roommate. Yeah, it turns into a hilarious situation. The dialogue/interaction between Ry and Jack will have you rolling.
I’m gonna love this series……..
Loved it. It was funny and pulled at your heartstrings at the same time. Left me with a great big smile.
Okay this was a super cute book but I found myself getting a little frustrated with Ry– Like TELL HER ALREADY!!! I kept thinking this is getting a little crazy, he has lied to her for over a year and they are sleeping together— you would think it would be easier to tell her, he’s NOT gay BEFORE they slept together?? I was totally puzzled by his reasoning to continue to lie about it BUT the book overall is super cute and a fast read.
This story is funny and it kept me reading it in one night. Good development of the story. It was a different spin on the romance.
Great story, if a little unexpected. But the middle of the story lingered for awhile. But a romantic hea in the end.
