“Clam Jam”Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block.Example: You’re chatting with a guy you’re interested in and your friend comes along and lays claim to him.MaggieThat’s my life—except it’s worse. My friend who keeps “jamming” me is my gay roommate and if that isn’t a W.T.F. moment, I’m not sure what is.Fact: He went home with three—yes, three—of the guys I had been so sure were into me. guys I had been so sure were into me.
Fact: He’s really pissing me off. I mean, hello? I’m trying to get back in the saddle, but I’ll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of fifty if he keeps this up.
Fact: Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren’t gay. Why do all the hot, sweet, tender-hearted guys have to be gay?
Fact: My gay-dar needs a serious tune-up.
Ry
The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met “the girl”, except there was one small problem: she didn’t want anything to do with men. I recognized a top-notch force field when I saw one. She’d been burned badly and didn’t want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could’ve turned around and found another place to live, but I wanted to live there—with her.
So I had to go “undercover”.
Fact: I’m in love with my roommate.
Fact: I’m a likely candidate for carpal tunnel surgery since all the action I’ve had for the past year has been my hand.
Fact: She’s going to hate me if I come clean now.
Fact: I’m not giving up. Which means, I’ll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the “real” me.
The me that loves her.
The me that would never do her wrong.
Until then, I’ll keep running off every guy who shows any interest.
Until then, I’ll continue to CLAM JAM.

“I’m sorry, but did my panties just go poof? Up in smoke? Because the look in his eyes made my hoo-ha feel like it was on fire.”
This is my first RC Boldt book and it won’t be the last. When I read the blurb for this one I just had to read it. I mean come on! Who can pass up a book entitled Clam Jam?!? I am a lover of all things romantic comedy, and this one does not disappoint! From page one I was so hooked, giggling and laughing out loud constantly, sometimes to the point of tears running down my cheeks. There are so many one-liners in this book, that I think I probably highlighted the whole damn thing! But I have to say my favorite part out of all is the napkins…read it, you’ll see what I mean 😉
If my tongue had a voice of it’s own, it would probably say something like, “Just the tip. That’s all I want.” The tip of my tongue tracing over Ry’s abs, that is. You know, just to prove someone Photoshopped him. Or not.
Because I’ll take one for the team. I’m a giver like that. People might even think of canonizing me as a saint after all this. Really.
Overall, this book is fantastic. It has a sweet and endearing heroine, a hot and sexy hero, great supporting characters (who need their own stories HELLO!), a believable storyline, and some AH-MAZING sexiness that is OFF THE CHARTS! #Oneclick this today and get “Clam Jammed” with Maggie and Ry!

This fun and witty romance had me laughing out loud as it showcased how far one will take a lie when he (or she) has met the “One.”
This book made me laugh out loud so much my husband kept giving me dirty looks from the couch! It was hilarious! Ry and Maggie make the best pair because they make each other laugh and they are able to be themselves around each other. It was a wild ride to see Ry thwart Maggie’s attempts at dating and it was invigorating to see how much love he had for her. I believe this is the first book I have read of RC Boldt and it sure as heck won’t be the last one!
The sexy times were hot and sweaty! Made me want these two to be together even more. I feel like Ms. Boldt navigated this story brilliantly! So happy I read this!!!
I really liked this book and found it quite hilarious. Maggie’s inner thoughts were so funny and the banter between her and Ry was hilarious as well. The stuff that came out of her mouth had me laughing. I would say my only complaint was that it took Ry way to long to come clean to Maggie and tell her the truth. I mean I get why he initially did it but how he thought she wouldn’t be upset about the lie made me shake my head. The chemistry between them was hot but there was a lot of heart and emotion and they connected on a different level because of the lie. I loved the secondary characters and can’t wait to read their book. Will definitely read more by this author.
I have no words for the amazing book I just finished. I highlighted the shit out of this book. Of course, I am going to have to edit this review before posting it to Amazon. They can’t handle the truth! HAHA! I loved everything about this book and more. If you want a true rom com this is it and RC Boldt knows how to write the best. I think I am in withdrawals I need more Mags and Ry moments.
Seriously Maggie is my type of girl. Trying out microbrewery and hockey!!! Where do I sign up to be her BFF. I can 100% relate to Maggie and how she feels from her past relationship. I am so happy that she was able to get over her ex, but damn did she get clam jammed by Ry. It was so funny, but as a friend I don’t know if I would have been able to help her win a guy over from Ry.
“It’s a good thing he is gay. Otherwise, let’s be real. I’d likely end up being that roommate who accidently-on-purpose “sleepwalks” into his bedroom – naked – and has sex with him” – Maggie
Ry has had his eyes on Maggie for some time. Back when she was with her no good ex. He liked her from afar. Determined to get the girl he moves in with Maggie and drags his best friend Jack in by saying they are gay lovers. I love Jack and Ry’s friendship. For two straight men to pretend they are gay to help the other get the girl is one for the books. Calling each other love muffin and pookie bear is hilarious.
“I’d had one of those moments I’d always scoffed at. The moments you see portrayed in chick flicks all the time when one character sees another and instantly feels a connection.” -Ry
After reading this book. I went to mom’s house to find the binoculars we all used to fight over to see all the wild animals on our hikes. Especially if they were far away. Bears are really cute and cuddly VERY FAR AWAY. Needless to say I can 100% understand Ry’s need to constantly check on Maggie while at work. People watching is really fun, but being a pepping tom or whatever it is called for a girl isn’t so much fun. Probably because my neighborhood is really boring and nothing exciting really happens.
“We save you Mags” Ry
“Indeed we did” Jack
“How do you figure?” Mags
“The guy had a flip phone Maggie” Jack
“OMG. Not this again.” Maggie
“We save you from being exposed to his collection of Beanie Babies. That would have been terrible. And from his VCR tapes of all the episodes of The Power Rangers. Or his Tupperware collection” Ry
If you don’t like Rom Com you may not like this book. If you take life too seriously you may not like this book. If you can’t laugh, you may not like this book. I am so happy I ignored other reviews and tried this book out myself. I love it and can’t wait to have the paperback copy on my shelf. RC Boldt is the Rom Com Queen and I will gladly bow down to her.
***I especially loved the napkin notes they wrote about what they wanted for the future relationship. I want someone to do napkin notes with.***
Okay, my first book by this author and I’m hooked! Loved so much about it! It had so many pop culture references that are right up my alley. Like a reference to one of my favorite kid books, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and then a reference later on to Pretty in Pink, about how Duckie should have got the girl in the end. Vocabulary such as the word “stabby” which made me think of my favorite tv show of all time, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This book was not only perfect for me personally, it was hilarious, the whole clam jamming idea, so funny! The way that he did it, I laughed so hard at that. And then, later, it got so darn steamy! Loved this story and characters so much. I got to meet the author and get it signed at Book Bonanza last year, hope to read more soon!
This book…shaking my head…was absolutely ridiculous and over the top filled with awesomeness. At first, I wanted it because of the obscene and absurdly fitting title. Once I started it, I couldn’t stop. It’s like a trainwreck of epic wtf were you thinking moments.
You can’t help but to fall for these characters. You know the whole time how off the wall and wrong the situation is but you can’t help but to invest in it.
I would be a horrible person/friend/reviewer If I didn’t tell you to buy it. Buy it now!!!!
4.5 Stars
This was such a lovely and awesome written book! It was full of witty and funny banter as well as emotionally and sexually charged moments. There were some heartfelt parts and lots of lovely gestures in this book that made my heart melt.
I’m not much of a humorous person but this book made even me smile. It was my first book from this author and I was positively surprised by the unique writing style. Honestly, I was a bit worried when I first looked at the cover because I feared the story to be somewhat trashy but it turned out to be an example of how deceiving covers can be.
The Story:
Maggie doesn’t want anything to do with men since she caught her now ex-fiancé cheating on her. When Ryland James desperately wants to rent out the room Maggie has to offer, he goes so far as in telling her that he’s gay. Both seem to be quite happy for some time with their living situation but as soon as Maggie starts dating again, strangely all men seem to be more transfixed on Ry than on her. Ry does everything to block Maggie in dating other men because he wants her for himself though how should he tell her that he isn’t gay at all but in love with her? Will Ry have the guts to tell her the truth? And can Maggie ever forgive him for lying to her all this time?
Thoughts:
This was by far the best comedy romance book I’ve read in a long time. And I don’t even like comedy that much because it’s hard to write IMO. You need the right amount of wit, fun, sexy and seriousness and this story is an excellent mix of all of them. I highly recommend this book also to readers that don’t usually read comedy but like romance books because let me tell ya, Ry will melt not only your hearts but he will also set your panties on fire!
Despite what I mentioned above was this book not too heavy on any emotions but made me nevertheless laugh, cry and swoon. I was relieved that it wasn’t a silly story but a well written book that included so much of what a lot of people wish for – to find the one person we can be crazy with and love regardless, the one that’s not just our best friend but much more, our soulmate.
This is probably one of my highest rated comedy books. I just felt a bit torn at some point because on one hand I thought that the story could’ve been a bit shorter but on the other hand, it would have been too rushed otherwise and I actually enjoyed how their feelings slowly developed.
Ry was like the perfect guy. He’s almost too perfect. The ending was amazing and who doesn’t wish to have a man like Ryland James?! *swoon*
LOVE LOVE LOVE! It was just the right kind of cheesy.
To be honest I was worried at first that Ry was one of those insta-lover, stalker guys but he turned out to be sooooo good.
I also really enjoyed the secondary characters Jack and Sarah. I really hope that at least Jack gets his own story too. I would definitely read it.
What a great way to start off the New Year with this delightful romantic comedy. I loved loved this book. It has the perfect combination of romance & humor. I was sucked in from the beginning to the end. I loved Ry & Maggie’s characters & this is a perfect friends to lovers book.
I got this book in a book box. Every time I see this title, my inner 12 year old boy comes out and I giggle. It was a cute story, there were quite a bit of funny and quirky parts. I did feel that it went waaaayyyy to long on Ry’s secret. Maggie was driving me a wee bit crazy when Ry was trying tell her and she shushed him off. But other than that, it was cute and entertaining.
This was my first read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last. It started hot and sexy and then kind of broke my heart. Ashley and Cameron meet on a dance floor when she grabs him, pretending that he’s her husband so she can ward off the unwanted advances of another man. They spend time together in the nightclub and she finds out, that her saviour might actually be the one she needs saving from. Following a bet, they end up spending the night together. It’s hot and sexy but in the morning, she goes to part ways as she’s going home. He gets her number though and after an unfortunate incident, he’s unable to call her. They never even learn one another’s names. Then my heart gets broken when he tries to find her still but to no avail. A bunch of years pass and Ashley’s moved to begin her internship in a hospital and guess who the doctor is she’ll be doing her internship with?
Now they’ve been reunited and finally know one another’s names, things are suddenly complicated. Ashley wants Cameron and he has never forgotten her, but Ashley has secrets and she knows once she reveals them, she’ll lose Cameron.
This was an emotional read and it bumped back and forth with the characters wanting one another and then tearing each other apart. I just wanted to knock their heads together at times. Loved it though and could barely put it down.
Clam Jam is a romantic comedy about being jammed. I love the cover & title as it fits perfectly with the narrative. Told in first person duo pov which is my favourite. The premise of this novel seemed like it would be a fun entertaining read with giggles & tears from laughing so hard. I so wanted to love it but I didn’t. I really like the concept of the narrative & character’s personalities are fun & you wish you could be friends with them. As, I never read this author before I didn’t know what to expect. It actually wasn’t a laugh out loud kind of read & I didn’t find it very humorous. There were humorous moments but not as much as I expected. Actually some pieces didn’t jive with reality as the heroine was a bit naive. I did love the little napkin notes they would write about what they want through out the novel. The writing style is splendid as it didn’t drag on or use fluff to lengthen the story. The epilogue was a sweet ending to their journey to finally stop being jammed. I’m looking forward to reading Blue Balls which is Sarah & Jack’s love story who are supporting characters in this one.
REVIEW: 4.5 HILARIOUS STARS
“I’m sorry, but did my panties just go poof? Up in smoke? Because the look in his eyes made my hoo-ha feel like it was on fire.”
I saw the synopsis for this book and immediately knew I wanted to read it. I mean, c’mon seriously….how can you read that and NOT laugh and wonder how it will work out?? From the get-go, this book had me giggling because of Maggie’s humor, but also Ry’s quick wit and comebacks. OMG…so freaking funny!! I’m a slow reader by nature since I like to absorb the book, per se, but I read this all in one day. I started early in the morning and ended late that night, but I couldn’t put it down! This was an “ignoring life for the win” kinda book!
With a title like Clam Jam, I seriously had to wonder how crude this book was going to be. I didn’t want some shock-jock style book. I wanted funny. I wanted well timed comedy, with some love and a little drama. Well, I totally got funny, and then some. This book read like a romantic comedy/chick flick mix and it was honestly the easiest read I’ve had all year. Ok, so it was my first read I have had this year, but I can promise you that I am glad I started my year off with this little ditty!! The humor was SO good. I’m still giggling while looking over my highlights and rereading some of the parts. There is so much to quote, but then I would give away too much. I seriously can’t wait to gift out a copy of this one!!
Maggie’s inner dialogue was hilarious. It was comical and entertaining, to say the least, and most definitely one that you could read over and over and not tire of it. I seriously mean it when I say I laughed good and hard while reading this book!!! She is so freaking funny!! Ry’s devotion to Maggie was the perfect example of the right man doing anything possible for the one he loves. He makes me smile with everything he selflessly did for her….ok, and to her, but most definitely for her. This was unconditional love at it’s finest. RC did a really good job making these two characters different and perfect for each other. I could see the caring side of Ry while dealing with the sarcastic side of Maggie. Total match made in heaven.
For the record, their sexy time was HOT. Very very hot….like, imagination running wild, lip-biting kinda HOT.
While sooome things may have been a little forced or awkward, the storyline between these two was spot on. The humor was smooth and it wasn’t cliche at all. I liked that I didn’t see anything coming from the humor aspect of it. Like, I honestly laughed about every page or every other page…it truly was that funny. Were some of the actions and reactions to the storyline and plot predictable? Yes, to a certain degree it was….but in an 80’s flick kinda way. You knew what was going to happen, but the buildup and the play-out was the best part of this book. The discovery of HOW it was going to work out was the best part. We learned right along with Maggie, and the drama that ensued was definitely smile-worthy. It was really really good. I look forward to reading more from RC Boldt, and based on her author bio, the sarcasm is strong with that one. I will most definitely be following her. RC is a new-to-me author and I wanted to make this year a year to try out new authors. I am so glad I took the plunge on this one.
Really.

Clam Jam is a funny, romantic story that will make you laugh out loud.
