Her thermostat was set to frosty, until her Christmas cowboy cranks up the heatAshley Hughes would love to cancel Christmas this year. Instead of holiday plans, she’s back in her Texas hometown planning her twin sister’s wedding — to her ex! Nothing like small town speculation to make her life cheery and bright. No one believes that she’s over the groom, until a certain cowboy secret crush steps … secret crush steps in to be her plus one. Ashley’s tried to friend zone Jennings since high school, because she’s always known kissing the casual charmer would lead to a love she’d never forget.
Jennings Hill would be the first to admit that his feelings for his ex-best friend are more likely to land him on the naughty list. When he sees Ashley again, he only wants to help but then a rumor links them romantically and that’s when their lives get complicated.
The more time they spend together, the more Jennings worries she’s not over her ex, but Ashley starts wishing Jennings was her present wrapped under the Christmas tree.

Five Stars
Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas is the fourth book in The Hills of Texas series by Kadie Scott. This is my first Christmas story of the season and what a great way to start. This book follows Ashley Hughes and Jennings Hill in a beautiful written romance. I read it in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. All of the books in this series can be read as standalones, but I recommend you read them all because they are all amazing.
Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (The Hills of Texas Book 4) by Kadie Scott
5 stars
I loved being able to see the Hill family again in this book, and finally Jennings book! You don’t need to read the other books to read and follow this book.
This story had something that I’ve not read about but maybe once or twice before, and it was done so well.
Jennings, i knew he was a big teddy bear under all the quick witted comebacks and sarcasm. He and Ashley had some history and I was so hooked on how this was going to play out.
And I loved seeing the other brothers in this story, even if they were just small interactions.
The chemistry was off the charts here, they just needed to open their eyes and see it.
Can’t wait for more from this author.
Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (The Hills of Texas Book 4) by Kadie Scott was a great romantic read to get you in the Christmas and wedding feels. I would give this book a five out of five stars. I found Ashley so relatable as a character. Running away, fiercely independent, and over the small town gossip. Jennings has a lot on his plate and his feelings for Ashley are starting to come to the surface. I loved all the twists and turns and could not put this book down.
Claiming The Cowboy For Christmas is the 4th book in the Hills Of Texas series by Kadie Scott. I have to say that this has been my favourite book in the series, although I have loved the others. This is a beautiful friends to lovers romance with a bit of a difference.
Ashley Hughes has come home to be bridesmaid at her twin sister’s wedding…to her ex. Added to that her best friend from childhood, Jennings Hill, who she fell out with due to her relationship with her ex, will be there. Jennings has been in love with Ashley since they were 14 and is out to convince her that he is the right man for her. One issue being that Jennings is convinced she’s still in love with her ex.
I absolutely loved the characters of Ashley and Jennings. Ashley is trying so hard to prove to everyone that she isn’t still in love with Eric while fighting with the feelings she has for Jennings. Jennings is actually such a sweetheart, I totally adored him. The outward façade of the big tough cowboy hides a sweet, romantic man at heart.
The storyline flows really well and is very realistic and believable. I loved the added bonus that this book was set at Christmas time as that really added to the storyline for me.
We’ve now seen all 4 Hill men succumb to the charms of their women, will we now get to see the only female Hill sibling, Carter, get her HEA? I really hope so.
I loved, Ashley and Jenning’s love story in Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas by Kadie Scott, book four in The Hills of Texas series. Imagine noticing the sizzle between your fiancé and twin sister, breaking up with said fiancé and encouraging them to date. Then leave town until it’s time for their wedding; which is what happens to Ashley Hughes. When Ashley returns home, to help plan her twin sister’s Christmas wedding, no one believes she is over the groom. Encountering her old friend Jennings Hill, Ashley asks him to be her plus one and maybe help her put a stop to all rumors. Jennings has had a crush on Ashley since their high school days, when she friend zoned him. As Jennings spends time with Ashley new rumors link them romantically together; which really complicates everything. The chemistry between Ashley and Jennings is off the charts making Ashley wonder how she was ever going to leave Jennings again. The more time they spend together the more Jennings worries Ashley is lying to herself as she’s not over her ex while Ashley is wishing that Jennings would be her Christmas present. Now if only these two could get their act together and discover that their love is special and true.
Ms. Scott wrote a wonderful and sexy story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Ashley and Jenning a chance to discover they loved each other and were meant for a future together. I highly recommend Claiming the Cowboy to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I absolutely LOVED this book! These characters are written so well I feel like I know them and could hang out with them. I really just want to join their fun family for any reason 🙂 They made me laugh, tear up and giggle a time or two. Mostly though I sit here with a BIG smile on my face while reading. That’s total enjoyment for me out of this story.
I can’t get enough of this family. These brothers! I just love when they have out and offer advice to each other. They have such great banter which shows a wonderful relationship between them.
Ashely, Jennings, Taylor and Eric….I really *felt* for these characters. What they have gone through and survived..this is one tough story because it could have easily gone another way. I enjoyed the way the author told the story to make it all believable and have he say..”Yeah that could happen” Many times I was irritated at Ashely or Eric then to turn around and be irritated at something Jennings did. Next they would crack me up and we would start all over again. Taylor was just a wonderful sister and so happy most of the time.
I love this series and this author does a wonderful job on the story. The chemistry between Jennings and Ashley is WHITE HOT! Be beware! I liked how the Christmas theme was weaved throughout this story. It was all perfect!
Next please!

This is my second book by this author, with the first being book 3 in this series…Still have to go back and grab books 1 and 2 and then will read all 4 back to back. I LOVED this one as much as I loved #3. This author’s writing style has me completely hooked, this book was my first of this holiday season and it made me want to grab as many more as I can 🙂
This was such a sweet story and I read it in one sitting. Ashley escaped her hometown a few years back and moved to Denver to prove to her twin sister and her small town that she really was over her ex. Now she returns to stand next to said sister in her wedding to said ex boyfriend. She knows she’s over him but no one else believes her…Enter Jennings, someone Ashley has history with who agrees to stand in as a love interest so Ashley can once again prove she is perfectly ok with the upcoming wedding. Problem is she wants what her sister has, not who her sister has but as things get complicated with her stand in BF, misunderstandings and trust issues arise, along with issues from the past.
I again absolutely loved this story and there was a scene towards the end that completely took my breath away…I’ve only read two of these and had no problem, so they can be read as stand alones but it has made me want to read them all so Id recommend grabbing them all.
Amazing!!!
CLAIMING THE COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS is Book 4 in “The Hills of Texas” series and can absolutely be read as a stand-alone .
This is a quick and easy read. There is a teeny bit of angst and some really sweet moments. It is a story of forgiveness and second chances. Told in first person with dual POV this story moves at a good pace and is very holiday centered.
I enjoyed this story and the other books on the series.
4 solid stars
Kadie Scott can write one mean cowboy alpha male love story. I have read the previous three books in The Hills of Texas series and enjoyed each one. Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas adds an extra bit of sparkle and magic with the Christmas season as a lovely backdrop to the festivities that take place in the book. For that reason alone I truly enjoyed this book. The bonus was the relationship disaster that is Jennings Hill and Ashley Hughes.
Ashley has struggled with the idea of putting on her supportive and happy face while she attends the wedding of her sister and her EX. Yes her ex is marrying her sister. As if the stress of this isn’t enough she is faced with her ex best friend, Jennings. Jennings has had crazy feelings for Ashley since day one. A falling out has made even a friendship seem impossible to attain. Then the rumor mill gets started and things get even more complicated for these two. Will they be able to get over the past? Can Jennings be the man Ashley has overlooked all those years?
I will say this wasn’t my favorite of the series, I was just left wanting a bit more from the characters and more of a deep and thoughtful backstory. I did enjoy it and it was a nice light and airy rainy day read. I will be back to see what else is in store for the series!
From the very first page, I was hooked and could not stop until the very end and once I reached the end I was sad and immediately wanted to read it again. The Characters were very well rounded and able to relate to. This is the first book by Kadie Scott I have read but it will not be my last. I couldn’t get enough.
Ashley was everything a woman should be feisty yet sweet. Jennings is the Epitome of a sexy Cowboy!
Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (The Hills of Texas Book 4) by Kadie Scott. I loved this story, I was so excited to read this story because just from the description I was hooked. This may be book 4 but it can definitely be read as a stand-alone without any confusion. Ok so this one may be my favorite one yet but shh don’t tell the others! Ashley and Jennings will forever have a special place in my heart, they completely hooked me into their world and wouldn’t let go. Each character is complex, relatable and brings something unique to the story. The storyline is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I love a good Christmas type heartwarming story. Five stars all the way! I need me a Christmas cowboy.
This is the fourth book in the Hills of Texas series and while it can be read as a stand alone, although i would recommend reading the other books so you know all about the Hill family. Ashley is coming home for Christmas this year from Dallas. Well, honestly she is coming home for her twin sister’s wedding to her ex-fiance. Yes you read that right. No no cheating was going on and YES Ashley was okay with it. In fact encouraged it because she saw the spark before they did themselves. The problem is the whole town can’t seem to understand that she isn’t upset about it. You know small towns and gossip. Then we have Jennings Hill, her best friend in high school until she started dating Eric who is now marrying her sister. Oh life truly does go in circles. Cant’ wait for more books in this series.
Scott provides yet another lovely tale in this series. This time we are celebrating Christmas with a side of Texas fun. I really enjoy Scott’s writing style. I found the characters immediately relatable and the story flowed quickly. I found I had finished without realizing I was nearing the end. A fun fast paced tale that I truly enjoyed.
Jennings Hill has been in love with Ashley Hughes since he was fourteen years old. Up to two years ago he thought all they could be was friends because she was with her high school sweetheart Eric. One New Years’ Eve they shared a kiss that seeped in his blood and lite him on fire and there has not been a woman since that he could commit too. His brothers say sleep with her and get her out of his system and move on but Jennings is terrified one night will never be enough. Ashley Hughes is back home after two years in Dallas to lick her wounds to attend the wedding of her sister Taylor to none other than her high school boyfriend Eric. Eric and Taylor are perfect for each other far more than she ever was for Eric. Ashley after she kissed Jennings New Years took off to Dallas to lick her wounds and give her sister and Eric time to figure out what she already knew. Now she is back and everyone thinks she is still in love with Eric even Jennings. All Ashley can think about is how much she missed having Jennings in her life and how everyone will not leave Eric to think alone. She has a plan she and Jennings can pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend through Christmas and then break up after she moves back to Dallas. The problem is Jennings is the only reason she would stay. Can Jennings let go of the past and love Ashley?
Claiming Cowboy Story we return to Hills of Texas to Jennings Story. Kadie Scott did a wonderful story allowing the story to follow well and for you to understand the there is more behind the characters then even the reader can believe. It was wonderful to see Jennings finally get his happily ever after knowing he has been waiting for Ashley all this time. This book is part of the Hills family Saga where Cowboys are real and the Hills of Texas come alive.
What another brilliant addition to the Hills of Texas Series by Kadie Scott. Each read I have read by Kadie Scott continues to prove me wrong on how much better each one can get, and once again I was totally captivated and entranced by this read from the very start until the end! Each time we get another book from this author she always manages to create characters that are real, relatable and lovable, and a storyline that flows effortlessly. You connect with the characters on another level that makes you thoroughly enjoy following their journey through their ups and downs and hoping that they get their HEA. This is another book you should not miss, I can’t wait to see what else Kadie Scott brings us!
Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas by Kadie Scott is book number four in the Hills of Texas series. This is Ashley Hughes and Jennings Hill’s story.
I enjoyed Jennings’ character but these two drove me crazy with their lack of communication and pride. A second chance and sweet romance but was just an okay read for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is such an enjoyable story packed full with second chance and first chances. Handsome cowboy Jennings Hill and charming accountant Ashley Hughes wade their way through some testy waters before romance can truly, deeply bloom at last.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book. This is a sweet, hot romance story that will warm your night and is a great book to start your holiday reading season with. I was pulled in right from the start and was engaged until the end. The characters bring the story to life as well as kept me turning pages. Ashley finds herself back home to plan her twin sister’s wedding and to her ex to boot. What will happen when her cowboy crush goes as her plus one? You don’t want to miss this one, I highly recommend this book.
I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. I have read all the Hills of Texas books by Kadie Scott and have loved them. You could easily read this book as a stand alone. The books each tell the story of one of the Hill famiily children. This story is about Jennings Hill and Ashley Hughes. Both are from ranching families and Ashley and Jennings have known each other for years. Ashley returned home for Christmas and her twin sister’s wedding to Ashley’s ex boyfriend. Everyone is so concerned that Ashley is still in love with her ex Eric who is now engaged to her sister Taylor. She realized she no longer had feelings for Eric and gave the couple her blessing. Jennings has bad feelings toward Eric and he seems to feel the same way about Jennings.
She plots with Jennings to have a pretend boyfriend, Jennings, her former best friend. However Eric doesn’t believe it is a real relationship and makes comments. Taylor and her parents believe it to be true. Jennings realizes he has been in love with her since they were 15 and she was with Eric. Ashley starts to think she has feelings for Jennings too. The group goes through all the normal bridal activities and experience some awkward moments. Ashley and Jennings also notice lots of chemistry and they sleep together but both are afraid to share their true feelings. I loved all the interactions between Ashley and Jennings as well as between her, Taylor and Eric. It is such a wonderful book with lots of angst, steamy scenes, romance and emotional moments. I look forward to the next book.
Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas (Hills of Texas #4) by Kadie Scott has a different Hill brother as the main character. The story also has a very different set of dynamics between the characters. These differences keep the series interesting; I like it.
It is a coming home story as well as a “friends or enemy-friends to lovers” story-line. It makes the story seem so much more believable than the instant love route, so I like that too. The characters are engaging, far from perfect in a normal kind of way. Just like friends would be, especially those from high school. As Jennings and Ashley maneuver through the sister’s wedding, the holidays and their growing attraction, a real relationship can grow. Plenty of small-town speculation and drama to keep this romance on edge.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
