The plot was well written and well planned and the characters were created with such great detail and depth which made this book a very enjoyable read!
I adore a well told Regency Period romance, especially when it’s well told and imaginative while staying true to the period. A hard trick to pull off, but Tess St. John managed to do it with flair – and suspense – with Millicent and Tristan‘s romance in Claiming Lady Brinton (Regency Redemption, Book 1). This is a great, wonderfully written story that I was delighted to download. Highly recommended.
A lovely story. Tristan has been missing for two years. Millicent was left believing she was abandoned. When he returns they set out to find the truth of why he was kidnapped. This is truly an adorable story about a young man who had to endure extreme hardships in order to grow. There is also a secondary romance with a couple who get a second chance at marriage and family. You will enjoy the sweet cadence of the e story as the good guys vanquish the villains.
London, England 1819
Lady Millicent Brinton was so elated. After two years she had ceased to be the focus of gossip and the endless whispers of society. Now maybe she had a chance at happiness.. or at least friendship and contentment in her marriage to Jeremy Winslow. While at a ball, they had walked outside to get some air and as Jeremy rubbed her arms to help the chill she heard … “Would you please..” a deep voice interrupted from behind her. “Remove your hands from my wife.” Merciful heavens! It was his voice!
That is how Tristan came back into her life.
I was captured from the first few pages and could not wait to find out why Tristan had disappeared on their wedding day and had been declared dead. The way he had treated her after the wedding was atrocious. It had been more a marriage of convenience for both. He for her money and she because her father wanted his daughter to marry a title.
The man who now appeared before her declared he was a changed man and would make everything up to her. He was going to be a real husband and treat her as she deserved. He declared “I want your trust, your happiness, and most of all, I want your heart.” Of yes I loved this man.
Tess St John has woven a story filled with intrigue, a mystery, an attraction that slowly builds and sizzles with two main characters who are strong and come alive with their thoughts and actions. As everything unfolds I could not wait to see what happened!
Prepare to sit back and read awhile, because you will not be able to put it down! Cannot wait for the next in this new series! Perfect!
A wonderful story. The plot was well-developed which includes a tragic tale and some unexpected surprises. All the characters were wonderfully created. I loved the story and I highly recommend it.
London – 1819
Lady Millicent Brinton, age 26, is attending a ball when out of nowhere, Tristen, Viscount Brinton appears. He is her husband thought to have run away after their wedding. It was then said that the ship he was on capsized and he drowned. But, now here he is. Now, he has a lot of explaining to do to his wife.
Tristen had not wanted to run away after their wedding. But he was injured by a carriage accident, captured, and then woke up onboard a ship full of prisoners. He worked onboard the ship and sailed around the world for a long time until he was able to escape. Back in London, Tristen is determined to make it up to Millicent, as well as find who captured him in the first place.
As they spend time together, they learn each other again and appreciate how the other has matured. Their attraction deepens but Tristen does not want to push Millicent to consummate their marriage until she is truly ready. But he is prepared to wait for as long as it takes.
This is a sweet love story which includes a truly great cast of characters. I’m sure that readers will enjoy this book.

Struggling under the weight of her husband’s disappearance on their wedding day and later reports of his death, Lady Millicent Brinton has dreaded every encounter with the ton. On the cusp of getting engaged once more, her rakish husband reappears with a story that makes little sense. Lord Tristan Brinton is fully aware of just how appalling his behaviour towards Millicent has been and waking up on a convict ship is the catalyst for turning his life around. Apart from investigating who orchestrated his disappearance, he is also determined to win Millicent’s love and prove to her that he is a changed man. Instead of disbelieving Tristan, Millicent gives him the benefit of the doubt but navigating society is still difficult, especially as the gossips are having a field day at her expense. The underlying tension in this book steers the course of the plot, but Tristan and Millicent’s love story touches the heart. Tristan’s protectiveness towards Millicent brings reassurance, and he is surprised when she finally reaches out to him. This novel is well written, heart-warming and tender without being maudlin or overly sweet. The secondary characters are also interesting and I enjoyed their story as well. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
