This book was originally published with the title “His Civil War Bride.” It has been retitled, and recovered, but the story remains the same.

A read full of history, mystery and romance. It’s so nice to be able to read clean wholesome romance books and still feel the enchantment of love. While I tend to be more of a wholesome contemporary romance reader, this historical read pleasantly surprised me.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
I really enjoyed this romance! It was like all her friends and family were conspiring to hook her up with the colonel even though she was “practically engaged” to her long time beau! The narration was really good! The characters were different enough to tell them apart, and then men sounded like men!
Amazing!!! I couldn’t put it down. The characters and the action were so real, I could see it in my mind’s eye… Can’t wait to read the next one!!!
Loved the first book in the North & South Series. The first romance story, of many to come, bringing hope that love can survive the pains of the Civil War. A refreshing love story, in a time when love was put to its greatest test. Thank you Christine for birthing this multi-author series.
Fantastic incorporation of historic facts that bring the time period to life!
Peyton Fuller, Young, beautiful and wealthy. Unspoiled and full of life. Her family was wealthy but down to earth and believed in helping those that were unfortunate. They paid the men and women that worked for them, didn’t own them.
Union Colonel Mason Stout a young man who had been through much in his career with the Army. Injured he left the service, but missed it greatly.. When the call to Arms to fight against the Confederacy came he answered with a full heart.
They meet in Harrisburg, PA and their story begins. This story will have drama between the two, intrigue when A spy is discovered so early on in the war. Can the two overcome the drama and realize they were meant to be? A young orphan boy might just be the key to bring them together.
This Author captures the heart and soul of Women during the war. Their feelings when they feel betrayed as their men go off to fight for their country. She captures the feelings of men leaving behind their loved ones as well. These two are determined to survive and she gives them both the strength to learn to do it together.
I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down.
Don’t miss this first story in the North and South series! You’ll want to read them all!
This first book is a terrific start to a series of love stories that find a way inspite of the war. I have waited for this series to begin and I am not disappointed with this first story. I eagerly look forward to book 2.
I loved this story. Peyton had nothing more on her mind than what dress to wear and when would Justin propose to her. Then the war began, and thousands of men poured into Harrisburg for training. She first saw Mason sitting on his horse and was struck by how blue his eyes were. She met him for the first time at a church doings, and was instantly attracted to him, which confused her no end. Wasn’t she supposed to be in love with Justin? Then she saw Justin kissing another woman on the street and was really confused. This is a story of getting ready for war, spying, and, most of all love.
