Her Temporary Cowboy Attorney Jackson Harris regularly goes toe-to-toe with the world’s toughest lawyers–but none of them compare to Lucy Maxwell. The feisty director of Oklahoma’s Big Heart Ranch for orphans is as stubborn as she is pretty. But Jack must stay focused; he’s only there to evaluate the ranch’s funding. Falling for Lucy and the sweet children she protects is out of the question. … question. Though Lucy is determined to keep the ranch, she’s not about to give control to a city slicker–even a devastatingly good-looking one. But as they bump heads, Jack and Lucy gradually nudge open their hearts. Could a temporary cowboy become a permanent part of Lucy’s life?

I just bought Tina’s latest book, Christmas with the Cowboy, and discovered it was book 3 in the series. Since I already own book 2, I ended up borrowing this one from the library until I can get my hands on my own copy.
This is a cute, clean story and worth the read. I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the series and recommend this series if you’re a sucker for COWBOYS!
Sigh. What a heart-warming Love Inspired book by Tina Radcliffe. I’ve always enjoyed Tina’s books and this one is another winner. If you’ve never read Tina’s books, definitely try this one! Anyone who enjoys well-written contemporary romance with cowboys and lovable children would love this book.
The story has a great plot that sucks you in from the first page. Lucy, as the co-owner and manager of her ranch for orphaned children, needs her annual funding from the Brisbane Foundation to keep the ranch going. Jack, the newly appointed counselor for Brisbane Foundation, opposes the funding and creates instant drama and tension. The story unfolds as Jack spends a summer on the ranch and discovers how the ranch operates and what it really means.
Lucy is fiercely protective, loyal, loving, stubborn, and oh-so-lovable. She works hard to keep the ranch going and wants to be self-sufficient. She’s been burned by a fiancé in the past and don’t want to repeat the mistake. Jack is a suave, sophisticated corporate law attorney, hiding from his glitzy New York City life after being devastated by his ex-fiancée. He’s determined, resourceful, but also tender-hearted and loving. These two sure butt heads and sparks fly like crazy as they battle each other in words and wit. Their banter is funny, sometimes spiteful, and overall quite enjoyable. The themes of spiritual maturity and forgiveness are woven into the plot well.
I am hoping for future books featuring Lucy’s single-mom sister and cattle-loving brother. They are such great secondary characters who deserve their own stories!
I received a copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a favorable review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
This charming story about a jaded attorney and a spirited director of a ranch for orphans is perfect for me! Lucy will fight tooth and nail for those kids on that ranch, even if she has to come up against Jackson, the lawyer that hold’s the purse strings for the foundation that regularly gives money to the ranch. Jackson thinks that the ranch isn’t worthy of the money and should receive less or maybe none of the money but Lucy makes him come and stay at the ranch for 6 weeks (or rather his aunt does who is the director of the foundation) before he makes the final decision. A lot can happen in 6 weeks and it certainly does! For one, Jackson is assigned a child to be his buddy and that’s “Dub”, a 5 year old with so much sweetness in his soul that Jackson can’t help but love him! I could love this book just by the interactions between Mr. Jack and Dub alone! However, there were so many sweet and tender experiences in this book. I had a hard time putting it down. I loved all the characters, especially “The General”! She was fantastic! Due yourself a favor and read this book. It’s great!
Claiming Her Cowboy by Tina Radcliffe is a heartwarming story that will tug at all your emotions and heart strings that should make you want to help foster children that have been abused, abandoned and neglected. I loved the beautiful dedication Rancliffe had to Big Oak Ranch that is a Christian home for children that have suffered.
Meeting Lucy, Travis and Emma Maxwell, in this initial book of the Big Heart Ranch series, brought renewed hope for other children. The Maxwell’s had suffered loss during their childhood and placed in foster care. Their compassion, resilient, courage, faith and love brought another chance to those less fortune when they inherited the property for Big Heart Ranch.
This initial book is Lucy’s story. She was one hardworking young lady without thinking about the cost to her personal life. Add Jackson Harris into the story and there are tense moments with his desire to change things at the ranch to make it more functional. Lucy and Jack butted heads more than once and then they were faced in confronting their own recent hurts and buried secrets. Will their faith, God’s amazing love and grace be enough to give them a second chance for romance and new beginnings with a brighter future for Big Heart Ranch too? I’m looking forward to reading the other books in this series. I’ve fallen in love the characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to post a review but have shared my own opinion.
Claiming Her Cowboy is the first story in Tina Radcliffe’s Big Heart Ranch series. What a wonderful story of love, faith and trust. Jackson Harris and Lucy Maxwell each have painful pasts to overcome. Watch as they learn to trust and believe in themselves and in each other as they grow closer to God and trust that all in His time is the perfect time.
I can’t wait to read more in this series and from this wonderful author. The characters are real, the emotions are strong and you just don’t want to put the book down until you are finished.
After reading the other books in the Big Heart Ranch series, I was thrilled to get to go back to the beginning and read the one book that I had not yet read, the first in the series, Claiming Her Cowboy!
This story was just as wonderful as the other three books in the series, and made me appreciate some things and characters even more, now that I know deeper back stories. I really appreciated getting to know the story behind Dub Lewis and his sisters and how they ended up on the ranch.
Just as with all of the other main characters in the Big Heart Ranch books, I really liked Lucy and Jack. They were so right for each other, yet it took them awhile to figure that out! This book was very enjoyable to read.
What a good read. Lucy is sweet and gives so much of herself, yet so very hard on herself. I could relate in so many ways to that aspect of her. Jack, well, just downright handsome, a bit arrogant at first, but the ranch softens him a bit. And Dub… what a sweetheart! Who wouldn’t love him!?!
I highly recommend and can’t wait for the rest in the series! I have a feeling the siblings have their own stories coming.
(This review is my own opinion. I won this book in a giveaway, not from the author.)
Enjoyed how the main characters learned about each other. Dub and the other children made you care and wish for a happy ending. This book should be a Hallmark movie, to learn more about the characters’ back stories.
How could you not love a romance that involves a little kid named Dub, a greased pig contest, and a wealthy very masculine hero? Five-year-old Dub who has a world of adult cares on his shoulders is easily my favorite character in Claiming Her Cowboy. Dub faces the responsibilities in his life with the resolve and commitment that the previous adults in his life lacked. You want to reach in a pick him up for a hug when he cries and when he experiences thrills that the rest of us take for granted.
Jackson is the hero we all want in our lives. He doesn’t mind stepping off his lofty perch to shovel manure or fuss with the chickens and his very actions prove his love with no guarantees for a return. And he can sweet with the cowboys and dance with the stars. And he’s softer hearted than the heroine. Ahh. We should each have our own Jackson.
The setting in the story is perfect. A ranch for orphans just makes the heart sing. And the banter between sharp characters is fun. But the big question is can the two most stubborn people at Big Heart Ranch untangle their locked horns and fall in love?
