In a race against the clock, she must betray his trust to achieve her mission… But fooling an alien warrior comes with a price.
No longer a captive but a guest of the alien warrior race, the Lathar, Jane Allen hasn’t forgotten what she is: a hard as nails marine major. Tasked with finding a way to beat the technologically advanced aliens, she needs to find answers for her superiors… before they … before they arm the nukes and give the Lathar an excuse for war. Because the little green men aren’t so little. Or green… they’re large, ripped, scarily-attractive alpha male warriors hot enough to make any red-blooded woman weak at the knees. Especially one particular alien warrior with black hair and a sexy growl she can’t resist…
She’s his… she just doesn’t know it yet.
Karryl K’Vass has wanted the human woman, Jane, from the moment he saw her. But she’s a tricky one, evading his claim even though he knows she desires him. His campaign for her heart is stalled when duty calls him away; a mission into a dangerous part of space to gather intelligence on the Empire’s enemies. A beautiful stowaway is the last thing he needs, even if she does make his body burn. He’ll finish his mission and get her back to the safety of Lathar Prime… Then maybe he can claim her as his mate.
But no plan survives contact with the enemy. Reptilian mercenaries, a crash landing, and a case of amnesia later and they land in the clutches of their enemies who think it would be better if Karryl took a long walk out of a short airlock…

Claiming Her Alien Warrior is book two in the Warriors of the Lathar series by Mina Carter. Theirs action, danger, suspense, and a little memory loss.
Both Jane and Karryl are stubborn warriors. I enjoyed their romance. Jane is an older heroine in her 40’s. I liked having a more mature/worldly women in this installment. Karryl has to work hard to dig into Janes defenses and get her to let him in and see that they are meant for each other. I liked his determination and the fight Jane put up. Their romance was fiery.
The secondary characters are interesting. We keep meeting new Lathar warriors. Not all of them are nice and honorable, but the same can be said for the human race too.
The only thing I did’t care for is that we don’t get a closer/resolution on Earth and Jane spying for Earth. That was the whole start of the story, then it went a different direction and never finished that plot line.
Claiming Her Alien Warrior was a thrilling and exciting read. I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
Rated: 4 Stars
Loved Jane’s kick-ass attitude. It took Tarrick a while to appreciate her. This book is a fun read filled with action, romance and nasty villains.
Love this series and the sexy Lathar warriors! Hot and fast-paced!
Love the dragon warriors and the women they find as mates. Good book
Claiming Her Alien Warrior is book 2, and thought it’s technically possible to read them separately, I would suggest picking up book 1 in the series so that the setup is clear and you’re not left wondering what’s going on as often.
This book is Karryl and Jane’s and I have to say, I think it was more fun than the first book. Karryl is kind of this big hulking dude who looks and acts like a brute most of the time, but as you might expect if you read romances, is really a darned good guy underneath all of that. And not even THAT far underneath. His dogged determination to win Jane is admirable and his confusion as the roadblocks she throws at him are adorable.
Jane for her part is an ‘older’ female lead who is tough as nails, a lifetime marine, a divorcee, and a fearsome friend. Watching her struggle to keep Karryl from getting under her skin (and her, lets be honest) was a lot of fun. It’s a battle we all know she’ll lose, but the journey is certainly an enjoyable ride.
Their interaction of trade station was an interesting (if sadly short) aside that showed the darker side (yes, even than women stealing aliens) of the wider universe. As with my previous review, I will point out that even though some of the things mentioned are atrocious, it should be remembered that humans have done pretty much all of it, so saints we are not, and Karrly drives home to Jane just how dangerous their existence has become now that they’ve made contact. If you want to get philosophical, it’s apropos.
If you’re into alpha male leads with squishy hearts underneath, hard-core female leads, universe building, creepy aliens, steamy fun times, and a mating that took a fight to get to, then this is a good read for you. Mostly smiles for this one; nothing too heart wrenching on the way to the HEA.
Okay… I would have given this book 4 stars EXCEPT… (gah, can I even mention it without cringing?) the author fell for the WORST character expression for a bad-ass military woman. “Do you HAVE to go? Can’t the Emperor send someone else in your stead?”
Mina Carter, have you lost your brain?
Sorry, I am not this brash, but I shuddered. Pleasedon’tletJanesaythis! pleasedon’tletjanesaywhatIthinkshe’sabouttosay…
She did.
It ruined the entire book, kiddo. You spend so much time developing a decent female role, and you ruined it.
Maybe you, the reader, should skip this one. At least read it on KU so you can say you read Book 2 so you can keep up on the continuity. Personally, Mia, rewrite it. You could only make it better. And please keep Jane in character!! Or at least say: “Nudge nudge, wink wink!” if you meant for her to use this so over-used line to manipulate someone else’s behavior. In other words, rewrite it anyways.
Our hero fell for our heroine when they overran the base she was stationed on. Now on the Lathar home planet our heroine is struggling with the mission given to her by Earth. When she smuggles aboard a ship our hero is on, then saves his life, she soon finds out how much that means to him. Hopefully, in future books we’ll find out just how stupid Earth is trying to hide their ulterior motives.
This was a pretty fun read. If you like science fiction at all (the action-packed kind) and steamy romance, this has both in abundance. I liked the characters a lot, especially the strong human marine, Jane Allen, who kicks butt, takes names, and chews bubble gum (and she’s all out of bubble gum). She makes an admirable and fun character, but she’s not so abrasive that you can’t understand Karryl’s attraction to her and understand how she befuddles him on a regular basis. They make a great team together, both romantically and in the butt-kicking department. This is so fun, I’ve read and reread it several times. This is my first book by this author, but it looks like the second in the series. I’m going to be looking at getting rest, for sure.
I didn’t realize that this wasn’t the first book in the series. This was written where it can be a stand-alone story. There are a few places where you can tell there was a previous story for some of the secondary characters, but does not affect the enjoyment of this book. The world building was good, the flow was good, & the characters were likable. Karryl was definitely a hot great alpha male hero type of character that’s not afraid to show his emotional side with Jane. Jane is deffinitly getting in her own way to finding happiness with him, thank goodness things all fall together in order for an HEA.
Fun read.
It was rather spicey and very entertaining the other world location made it just great for my taste
I enjoyed it.
This series is improving with every book. Very unusually it is a stubborn heroine who is causing the problems and I loved the twist with Jane being married.
The women from earth who opted to stay with the Lathar are finding themselves the interest of the warriors who do not understand them at all.
Jane is still an enlisted soldier though and is put under orders to spy on the Lathar.
Earth, being stupid, plans to use nuclear weapons against the Lathar with no thought to the consequences as usual.
I loved this story between Jane and Karryl. Jane is so stubborn and it is nearly right to the end before she gets her head out of her butt.
But I do love that these women are strong, capable and able to kick butt as good as the warrior males.
Okay
poorly written, uninteresting
Good story, more sex than I care for.
Disappointed with this book. There were a lot of grammatical errors. This distracts me from the story.
I liked the book mainly because the heroin was an equal to the main character and she was very unpredictable.
Great series! Read it in order as characters reappear!
I do not like books with graphic sex. It would be nice to get a warning about it before downloading the book. It was not bad during those pages that were actually about the plot.
