For Logan Anderson, moving on from a traumatic past means moving back to his hometown of Castle Rock, Colorado, to start a personal-security business with his brothers. But it’s not long before Logan runs into Grace Mason, his best friend from high school…and the woman who never answered his letters during his Army years.
Grace was pleasantly surprised to see Logan return to Castle Rock, despite … Rock, despite their falling-out ten years ago. Everyone always assumed they would end up together, including Grace, who had eyes only for him. But as Logan eventually escaped their town, Grace got pulled further into her family’s controlling grasp—and farther away from the man she loved.
Now, united by scars both visible and not, the two must fight to free Grace from the suffocating hold of her family. But the Masons won’t let go easily—and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep the couple apart.

I could not put this book down. I loved the twists, characters from start to finish. Cannot wait to read the other books by this author.
Haven’t read a Susan Stoker book that I didn’t enjoy.
Start of another good series by Susan Stoker.
It was a good second chance romance.
you cant go wrong with any book from this author!
It’s Susan Stoker – what else is there to say??
Susan Stoker never disappoints. Her characters are intelligent and caring, people I would like to know myself. Her stories are intriguing and she brings you into the book so you feel involved with it. I like that the same characters appear in each of her series so you can really get to know them but also that each book is a stand alone.
It was predictable. My second time through and it dragged a lot. Maybe because I read it before? It didn’t keep my attention for long. I kept putting it down.
An excellent start to what looks to be an excellent series. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting, in a good way. Grace is a beautiful, likable woman who from all appearances is stuck between a what her parents want and her own desires. Unknown to most is the abuse she endures from her parents to keep her in line.
There are a couple things I really appreciated about this story. First it is an terrific example of how devastating emotional and psychological abuse can be. It can be far more long reaching than physical although that is bad enough.
Second, is the unseen strength it takes to stand up to that abuse and try to get help, to get out and away from it.
Oops, there’s a third, the awareness of the abuse of men. Men are not immune to abuse, no-one human or animal is immune. Abuse is real. It happens everywhere. It is unacceptable, everytime.
I don’t know how the author does write such amazing stories every time. Logan and Grace have a long history and her parents did everything to keep them apart. Over the past decade as well as currently after Logan is back in town with his brothers to start his own business. Never did I imagine what insanity might look like regarding Grace and her family. Great story.
I have never read a book that had this subject matter. While it could disturb some people it really does happen. The author did a wonderful job describing the effects of this awful violent crime. The story was a very good suspenseful romance with steam book. Narration was very good
True love, can stand the testory of time and evil parents. Love the visit to the jail.
Loved It
Susan writes such wonderful stories that touch on so many things that happen in real life but aren’t always talked about. We here so much about domestic violence, but we forget it goes both ways but men don’t want to admit it. And we forget verbal abuse it just as deadly.
I really liked this book. I love that the Anderson Brother’s took something tragic from their childhood and made something great! This was an amazing book.
Claiming Grace is a wonderful start to a new series. I loved this story and loved that Logan saw the vulnerability behind the facade that Grace had put up.
I can’t wait to read more of the stories in this series. SS is an addiction that I never want to find a cure for.
-5 Stars!-
This is a new series by Susan Stoker and a must read…I loved it. Some will think less of this young woman for not being stronger, but a life time of emotional abuse has left Grace broken. Her controlling parents were manipulative and evil. Logan her high school sweetheart returns ten years later and all wasn’t as it seemed. Logan and his brothers start up a security company helping people who have been abused escape. Can Logan wake up and see what is happening with Grace? Will he rescue his damsel in distress? You’ll be hoping for a second chance.
This story has a solid story line and well developed characters, I look forward to hearing about the other brothers.
A rare DNF for me. Thank god for KU. Gutless heroine we are supposed to feel sorry for. How is this getting such high reviews?
Started great with the story of the three brothers and the sadness of their lives and what happened with their dad.
Then we get to the heroine, OMG, how childish was this story.
Nearly 30 years old, physically abused by her parents, monitored to the nth degree, having to hide money in a secret bank account and she is WORKING for them. Just HELL NO.
AND THEN IT GETS WORSE. I KID YOU NOT.
The author needs to take this book back to the start and rewrite the whole thing.
NOBODY is that pathetically useless as this heroine is.
Such a waste of what sounded like a good story.
Claiming Grace (Ace Security Book 1) by Susan Stoker is a contemporary, second chance, romantic suspense.
Logan has returned home to Castle Rock, Colorado from his career in the military. He and his brothers, who are triplets, have started Ace Security in memory of their father and in hopes of helping people escape abusive situations. Logan initially avoids his high school sweetheart, Grace, due to the abrupt way their relationship ended 10 years ago. Eventually, they are reunited and he discovers that she is in danger. He also discovers that things aren’t always as they appear. Logan sets out to restore his relationship with Grace and enlists his brothers’ help to rescue her.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. Much of the storyline and villianry was way over the top, but I really wasn’t expecting it to be realistic anyway. This was a fun read.
4 stars
I purchased a copy of Claiming Grace (Ace Security Book 1) by Susan Stoker and this review was given freely.
A second chance at love romance and an excellent beginning to the series. Opening at the funeral of their murdered father, triplets Logan {Military}, Blake {former MP now PI and security expert}, and Nathan {accountant} have returned to their hometown of Castle Rock, Colorado which brings back memories of their abusive childhood resulting in them starting a personal security company to assist abuse people, Ace Security. While there, Logan reunites with his best friend from High School and first love, Grace whose controlling family continues to abuse her. A poignant story with a mildly steamy romance, that contains many forms of abuse but ends happily. There is a tease which leads you into the next book. Best if read in order in series. Recommend age 18+
When Grace sends Logan out to boot camp, she knew they would love each other forever. Yet ten years later they each find themselves battling bad memories which include abuse by loved ones. Once they talk, they realize how love could be forever. The thought that women could be abusive to their children is disturbing yet Ms. Stoker write a haunting love story around the abusive relationship between Grace and her parents. You won’t forget this one.
