For Logan Anderson, moving on from a traumatic past means moving back to his hometown of Castle Rock, Colorado, to start a personal-security business with his brothers. But it’s not long before Logan runs into Grace Mason, his best friend from high school…and the woman who never answered his letters during his Army years.
Grace was pleasantly surprised to see Logan return to Castle Rock, despite … Rock, despite their falling-out ten years ago. Everyone always assumed they would end up together, including Grace, who had eyes only for him. But as Logan eventually escaped their town, Grace got pulled further into her family’s controlling grasp—and farther away from the man she loved.
Now, united by scars both visible and not, the two must fight to free Grace from the suffocating hold of her family. But the Masons won’t let go easily—and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep the couple apart.

When it comes to really tough subjects Susan Stoker has a knack of bringing out the truth of things while wrapping you into the story she weaves. Although this book contains incidents and stories of abuse that may be triggers or be disturbing to some individuals, it is informative and a reminder that abuse can happen no matter what your means.
Logan and his brothers have returned to Castle Rock to bury their father. Their mother had always been abusive and they lived with it until they were old enough to leave. Their father paid the ultimate price, his life and their mother killed herself after doing the deed.
Because of this and their childhood Logan and his brothers are starting a security company to aid those men who might otherwise never come forward.
Now Grace on the other hand, knows what her parents inflict on her is abuse but she can’t figure a way out. Her parents are manipulative and emotional abusers. The last straw is when the set their sights on someone they want her to marry.
Grace and Logan had a relationship in school, when he left to join the Army they vowed to write and she would wait for him. But he didn’t write and Grace finally stopped waiting.
Now she sneaks out of her parents home to be with her friend Felicity. She has her own apartment but her parents always need something and she spends more time at their home than her own.
A favorite scene is the confrontation between Logan and Grace when he finds out she never got his letters.
Things heat up after that conversation, in more ways than one. Bradford and his parents aren’t thrilled with Grace’s parents ideas. However, Grace and Bradford had long decided to be just friends even though his sister Alexis doesn’t quite understand that.
Logan finds there are many more types of abuse than the physical and vows to be with Grace.
An emotional and heart wrenching story as the journey to happiness meets extreme circumstances for all involved. Keep those tissues handy, you will definitely need them.
This whole series by Susan Stoker is the best. I will be reading all of them.
Claiming Grace is not for the fainthearted. Both characters have suffered from abuse, either physical or emotional. Logan managed to escape his abuser and has now returned home with his brothers. But can he rekindle the love he felt for Grace, after leaving her behind?
Grace’s trauma may not be visible but it was just as damaging. I loved the ethos behind Logan’s company – rescuing abused adults and children, a very worthy but emotionally draining cause.
At turns sad, sweet, romantic and heart wrenching. I really teared up at times and before I knew it I’d read the book in one sitting!
I read the series a book a day because I liked the characters and the style of writing.
Susan Stoker never hesitates to tackle tough issues. In this book, it was child abuse, but to an adult child as well as spousal abuse of a husband. The storyline and Grace’s rescue were a little out there, but it fit the story line. Susan can also write aa villain well and in this book there was no exception. I’m now three books into the series and I won’t give anything away but my prediction about felicity from this book was wrong-o. And now I’m just as happy about that. If you enjoy the gentleman alpha male, read any of this authors books.
Susan Stoker has done it again!!
Claiming Grace is a wonderful start in the new series, Ace Security.
It is a great book! An intense story! And a touching romance about a second chance at love! I can wait to read Book 2!!
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
This is a great start to a new series by Susan Stoker. I am already a fan of hers and was very excited to start this new series.
Logan and Grace knew each other in high school. Both were interested in each other but had things going on in their lives that prevented them from taking that next step. Promises were made when they departed but yet real life stepped in as did meddling parents.
Years later they met again and at first residual hurt keeps them apart but once they finally get together and talk about the hurt they caused each other walls starts crumbling.
There were many takeaways from this book that I loved that were addressed. I loved when Logan was given some tough love when at first, he wasn’t acknowledging that Grace was being abused. He grew up with a physically abuse mother and since Grace doesn’t have marks in the beginning he doesn’t call it abuse. He was educated fast!
Susan Stoker is known for writing strong females but she hit it out of the park when she wrote Grace. You could see the strength this woman had but yet just how vulnerable she was. To watch her take her life back was amazing to read.
I would recommend this book.
This has got to be one of the better stories Susan Stoker has written!! Like all of her characters, they deal with real life issues. This author also brings out real life feelings while you read them.
This is the first book in this series. In this series, there are 3 brother, triplets, actually. They are brought back to town due to their mother killing their dad and then killing herself. They decide in their dads honor, they should help people like him (abused, etc…), so they open a security company.
This is the opening to the story of Grace and Logan. They have a history together. Their history makes chance meetings awkward and painful to see happen. They each have pain, abuse and treachery in their past.
We meet Grace and Logan in the first story of this series. Logan had physical abuse from his mom, while Grace has mental abuse from both her parents. I loved how Grace was able to keep her pure heart and goodness shining through no matter what was done to her, yet showing a steel spine with a determination to live and love in life. This story speaks of their love conquering over all the hate and abuse suffered in their lives. I can’t wait to see what Mrs Stoker has in store for Blake next!
This is a very good original, well written story and characters!! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!!
