When I arrived at Darklight Academy, all I wanted was to leave. Now I’ll do whatever it takes to stay. There’s only one demon who is supposed to be up in my business, and his name is Xavier. So when Rafael—the demon who has taken up residence in my nightmares—decides that I am the only thing standing between him and his freedom, I’m forced to make a choice. Find the key, or lose Xavier forever. … Xavier forever.
But wait—there’s more. Turns out that when a siren loses her man, she’s forced to return to the sea. Somehow I missed that in Siren 101. But after learning what happened with my mother, I know the danger is real. Exile in the ocean would cost me more than Xavier and this life we’re trying to build. It would also break the rest of my heart if I lose the three other men who have pledged themselves to me.
Not so long ago, I thought we could face anything together, but do we have what it takes to defeat Rafael before he unleashes his psycho demon wrath on the world? When imprisoned demons want out, they leave no stone unturned.
But this demon unleashed a different kind of fury when he picked on me.

Claiming Darkness by Laney Powell is a wonderful story that I have had the privilege to read. This is book number two in this wonderful series writen by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about demons and paranormal romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This continues where book 1 left off. All 4 of her men and now super supportive and they get along. I wasnt sure they would. We find out some more information about her Mom and what happens to Sirens if their men fall out of love with them or tell them they dont love them anymore. Rafael is a bad demon and keeps taking people in hopes to find her men as a bargaining chip so she finds the stone. Her worst fears are realized. There’s also a traitor among the school. Sorcha has been trying to talk to Raven a couple of times. I just wonder if she has something really important to tell her or if she is messing with her again. Raven wont let her say anything so we dont really know at this point. Will she be able to rescue Xavier before its too late?
Okay, this was goodish. I think there needed to be a little more filled out though. Its not very detailed about the guys powers. Devon especially. He’s got a lot of power it seems but he’s a Necromancer so I am not sure how many powers he has. He seems to be able to do a lot. They all do. Seems like they have more than one power but its not explained. They just perform it. I would have also liked more of an emotional connection between all of them. The lust is there for sure and I can tell they care about each other but something is definitely missing. I still have many questions so I hope its touched on in the next book.
Our heroine has accepted her new place but another being sees her as the key to his release. Can she find away around this demand and still protect those close to her?
This is book two of a new paranormal academy story. It works well as a standalone, although you will be missing some of the background. I recommend starting at the beginning for maximum enjoyment.
The story is well written and easy to read, while the plot produces several twists and unexpected circumstances which keep things interesting. The characters are also well developed and we learn more about them in this book. I found the plot engaging and enjoyable, making for an easy and enjoyable read. I am definitely looking forward to the next book.
Highly recommended.

Claiming Darkness is book two of the Academy of the Underworld and picks up where book one left off. Raven and the guys are back as they work together to fight Rafael and help Raven with her magic. This is a fast paced read filled with action, drama, danger, mystery, suspense and twists that pulled me into the story. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
OMG! This one picks up right where we left off in to 1st book. Great world building series that sucks you into its vortex! Raven is fighting an abstract demon in her dreams. Her and her boys need to band together to prevent the demon, Rafael from permanently kidnapping her. There is a leak in Darklight Academy feeding Rafael information. Can they figure it out before it’s too late? Pick up a copy for yourself to find out!

Raven went into the light but all she found was someplace dark and foul smelling and one ticked of Demon who’s not above torture to get what he wants. Rafael says her mother took something he wants it back but if this guy gets what he wants and gets out there will be some major consequences. But know matter what Raven will protect her guys Xavier,Devin,Mikahail & Carrick. Also she puts Sorcha in her place and now Raven is beginning to grow in her magic as well as her confidence navigating her siren powers. This book will end in another cliffhanger can’t wait for the next one.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This is Book 2 of this series and it’s gr8. I can’t wait for the next book. The story continues with Raven & her four men, Xavier, Mikhail, Devin, and Carrick loving each other, but also the guys are teaching her protective magic. Things are really heating up in more ways than one. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
There is more action and suspense in this thrown in with the sexy men Raven has behind her. There is danger and such mystery that it was hard to put down because I needed to know what was going on. I only hate that it’s still part of a series and we need to wait for the next one to see how Raven’s adventure continues.

ONE THROW DOWN THRILL RIDE!!!
Hell hath no fury! Laney blazes through with an ass kicking vengeance, throwing down the gaunlet and razing hell, blasting this baby to life brilliantly. When the going gets tough, she blows the gates of hell wide open, unleashing her wrath in all it’s glory, and what a block busting sight to behold. One action packed, hard hitting, pulse racing, heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, block busting thrill ride, revving up the mayhem an tossing in chaos, blending this bad boy together piece by piece. Twixt and twinned and put through the ringer, keeping pace with a slew of shocking twists and startling turns, rolling with the current and breaking free. The characters are authentic with depth and perception, transforming their personalities with enough flaws for diversity. The scenes are so colorfully detailed and descriptive it paints a thrilling back for one mind-blowing culmination. Remarkable job Laney, thanks for sharing this little fella with us.
This book had so much happening that I just couldn’t put it down.
The author has outdone herself and I can’t wait for the next book.
