Evan Quinn left Jade Island for the mainland to uncover as much of the secret history of Alphas and Omegas as he could. Evan uses his wealth to have a rare Omega delivered to him. He quickly learns that money can’t buy everything he needs. Now that the Omega is gone, he has second thoughts. An underground government intent on destroying mankind crosses their paths. Can Evan protect Emmy from One … One World? Or will she be snatched away before he can claim her as his own?
Claiming an Alpha’s Heart is the second book in the Hidden Gems Dark Omegaverse series by author A.R. Ford. These are not your typical Alphas or Omegas. If you’re looking for a twisted, dark, steamy, intensity and an HEA, this one is for you.
Warning:
This story contains mature content and potentially triggering material including complete power exchange, violence, and sexual situations intended for adults 18+only.
If you are unfamiliar with omegaverse, please research the trope before proceeding further. Alpha, Omega, and Beta behavior differs from “normal human” behavior.

Very riveting storyline. Caught my attention and I had to finish reading till the end. Loved the characters they were steamy, interesting and there was action and adventure with twists and turns and some suspense. It’s interesting that the Alpha has to learn the history about Alpha and omegas. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A tweaked Omegaverse world continues
Claiming An Alpha’s Heart is the second book in the Hidden Gems Dark Omegaverse series. The author has continued to tweak the Omegaverse world so that it is a bit different, which I am sort of starting to like.
While the story-line itself was interesting there were issues with the editing and proofreading which caused me to become frustrated at some points. The errors also meant that the story was broken up for me while reading instead of flowing smoothly. So I am disappointed by this but I still thought the book was okay and had good promise.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
A riveting book two in the Hidden Gems Dark Omegaverse series! The story-line is interesting, steamy, well written, and action-packed with suspense, twists and turns, and more! The characters are strong and good together; the chemistry between them is amazing. Definitely recommended!

The story line and the character work were good. The story didn’t have a smooth flow to it and this was due to spelling and grammatical errors that were made throughout the book. With some editing and refining this has the promise of a terrific book.

The writing and editing of this m/f omegaverse was a little rough, with a few incorrectly constructed sentences and typos per page in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building not great, with this dystopian world and society not being very well described, and some of the descriptions that were there were somewhat confusing. The characterization was poorly done, with the heroine especially seeming to have a strange animal-like fixation on shiny things and emotional reactions many times being consistent with the processing ability of a toddler. It was jarring for me, as the reader, to read this in an adult woman. The development of the romantic relationship was also rough, with this heroine falling in love with this hero when he is abusing her and viciously mistreating her. It seemed strange that the heroine would fall in love with him at that point in the story instead of after he turned over a new leaf and was trying to show her that he wanted to be a good mate. My preferred form of dark romance is when it uses a variation of the Enemies to Lovers trope, where the heroine fights against the hero’s mistreatment at the beginning. This novel did not take advantage of that opportunity. The plot and pacing was somewhat uneven, with the heroine conveniently stumbling upon the solution to a plot problem multiple times, which struck me as somewhat lazy writing. This novel has surprisingly low angst for a dark romance, and the stakes are very high, as the Alphas are trying to defeat One World. However, I could not figure out how One World and the current governing structure interacted, or how old the organization was. The explanations for how One World fit in this dystopian world and the plot were pretty poor. This book contained the Mating Bond trope common to omegaverse romance, and the Virgin and the Bad Boy trope. The world building was two stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was three stars. The plot and pacing was three stars. Therefore, I was generous and rounded up the combined score of this novel to three stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so in that respect, it is better than a lot of m/f omegaverse romance novels that end on cliffhangers. I recommend this novel only to readers who want to add another dark m/f omegaverse romance without a cliffhanger ending to their already read pile. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

“Money talks, Emmy. Always remember that.“ ~ Rafe
—>>> As a member of the elite class of Alphas, Evan Quinn is hellbent on remaining aloof and single, even after being presented with the unexpected gift of a rare Omega. A being so rare, in fact, that no Alphas seem to know what to do with them in their time, as it has been over three decades…well, besides the obvious, during an estrus cycle. That is merely due to pure physiology.
Emmy Rowe had been scratching out an existence in the dangerous wastelands when she was caught and taken to work at a whorehouse. Taken by a mysterious man named Rafe just before before her situation could get much worse, Emmy finds herself shepherded on a short journey only to be sharply betrayed by the very man who had just saved her, when he sells her to Evan. All of Emmy ached for something, anything, a sign from the gorgeous male who claims her body, but she finally realizes that she will never hold any special place in Evan’s heart. Because Evan just does not do relationships.
Used to being unwanted, first with her abusive Guardians, then Rafe, and now Evan, Emmy strikes out on her own, unclaimed. What follows will be yet another learning journey of finally learning of her true worth and place in the slowly modernizing world. Old directives, evil forces, and familiar characters from Book 1 (to name a few) make this an exciting and satisfying read as events barrel towards Evan and Emmy’s HEA.
AMAZING! A fantastic, well written read. An intense storyline that holds your attention as you get caught up in the fierce twists and hot chemistry. Plenty of excitement and emotionally heartfelt. A thrilling must read.
