Moira’s life is finally heading in the direction she worked herself silly to achieve. She recently graduated from college at the top of her class, and before she heads to graduate school in the fall, she embarks on a two-week holiday with her besties in Ireland to celebrate. It is supposed to be the trip of a lifetime – one where she figures she can finally change her virginal status. Only, … Only, nothing goes as planned.
Moira and her two friends get chased into another world by a big, freaking winged monster, and her life just goes downhill from there. At least… until she meets this really hot guy who shows her just how incredible the horizontal tango can be. There’s just one teensy little problem: once they do the deed, she kind of ends up mated to him – for life.
Now Moira has to figure out if she can give up the life she always thought she would lead, for the one man in all the universe she is fated to love.
Publisher’s Note: While this is the second book in the steamy, paranormal Alcyran Chronicles series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

This was a cute but good book. I loved the dynamic between Moira and Valerian. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys insta attraction and a good sci fi romance.
Book two in the series, it is not necessary to read the first one. This is a creative and original story. Moira is swept away into a strange world and “given” to the king (Valerian) by the men who find her.The internal dialogues of these two characters is a great way to let us get to know them and make sense of their behaviors. I hope there will be a book three about the third friend in the group.
Definitely worth the time to read.

Anya Summer never disappoints – even I’m not a big fan of paranormal I got sucked into her universe.
I tried…
I usually love stories by this author. I tried to love this one but just couldn’t. Yes, it is a completely different genre for Ms. Summers than I’m used to reading but that wasn’t my problem. My issue was how it seemed that the same thing was repeated and repeated…..especially Moria’s body issues. Will I put this book on the keeper shelf? It’s doubtful. Will I read the other stories in the series? Probably…I do need to know what happened to Anna and Gemma after they fell through the portal after all.

A captivating, thrilling 2nd book in ‘The Alcyran Chronicles’ series and like the first one this one also takes you on a wild adventure! Full of intrigue, steam, action, drama, and witty banter. Exciting story-line with lots of twists and turns. Amazing and strong characters … fated mates … off the charts chemistry … intense and off the charts. Definitely recommended!

Spoilers ahead:
This was a really interesting book. Moira, whose real family are her 2 best friends, travels with those friends to Ireland to celebrate graduating from college. She thinks of herself as plain looking and a bit overweight compared to her companions, but she is determined to lose her virginity on this trip. But she and her friends get far more than a celebratory trip to Ireland when a mysterious black mist whisks them to an unknown place. There the girls are separated and this story focuses solely on Moira, her survival, her capture by soldiers, her desire to escape and find and save her friends so they can all return to their lives, but also her undeniable attraction to the King who is also inexplicably drawn to her. The story has a lot of intrigue and action, and sexual tension. It is well written and keeps the reader engaged.

Moira, Gemma and Anna are in Ireland for a vacation of a lifetime. While there the girls are chased by a flying monster and they get herded through a portal. They become separated when the fall through the portal. This book deals with Moira. She’s chased by animals and finally too tired to go on she falls asleep. When she wakes up she’s taken prisoner to the King. She is presented as a gift to a vampire king. The Vampire King, Valerian is surprised when he finds that Moira is his fated mate and that her blood gives him life. I totally enjoyed this book by Anya Summers and will go back and read the first book of this series.

Anya once again greatly impressed me and made me fall in love with her writing once more! This was so different from other PNR I have read! It was FANTASTIC!!! I loved Moira and Valerians story! She wanted to lose her virginity but she certainly never expected that to happen
on another planet. To a vampire. That she found herself mated for life to. While this story can certainly be read as a standalone, I absolutely cannot wait to continue this series.
Moira, Gemma and Anna who grew up together and just finished college decide to take a vacation in Ireland before they split up for their prospective jobs. When they arrive in Ireland after they booked in their hotel they decide to walk to a pub and after closing they walk to the hotel but along the way they get lost. While walking a flying creature chases them into a alley and a portal opens which they use to escape. They’re separated when they land in a new world. Moira lands and looks for her friends and see Anna. They see the creature has followed them and they start running and the creature captures Anna and Moira follows, but she loses them and must fend for herself. She gets capture by a scouting party and is presented to their King Valarian a vampire. The King is beautifully handsome and Moira is attracted to him and so is the King to Moira, but she must escape to try to find her friends. King Valarian also has a rival tribe who’s trying to upsurge him. With all the turmoil and misunderstandings, can our couple reach a understanding and forge a union. I enjoyed the second book about Moira a virgin who’s been thrust into a situation who has self confidence issues because of her size and King Valarian made the perfect couple who saw beyond the image. I can’t wait for the third book which will be about Anna. I volunteer to read and review this ARC.
I confess I read the first book before this one so I can’t really comment on whether it stands alone. This is book 2 and it’s Moira’s story. She was not my favorite character. She’s got low self esteem and I found that it lasted way too long. She’s also hung up on finding her friends and isn’t too smart about it. There’s a difference between bold and daring and impulsive and stupid and Moira tilts too far to the later. That being said it was still a fast, fun, hot read. I will pick up the next one in the series. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
Book 2 in this series that is a departure from the usual style for this author. If you haven’t read book 1, don’t stress because this is enjoyable read as a standalone. This is a very enjoyable read that presents vampires in a different way to the usual & that made it more original & fun to read. The characters were interesting and the story was well paced. My only criticism is that there was a bit of repetitiveness to the writing, particularly in the beginning, but it was only slightly annoying. Overall, I’d recommend this book for a fun read.
Moira, Gemma, and Anna were in Ireland on a two-week vacation to celebrate their friendship before they all moved on to different graduate schools to complete their studies. Up to now, they had been together for 8 years! Coming out of the pub a little tipsy, the girls got lost getting back to their hotel. They wandered into less busy streets where it was darker and scarier due to the lack of people. Just about ready to call an Uber, they heard a whooshing noise they couldn’t identify. All three of them screamed when they looked up at the huge monster above them. Gemma screamed at them to run, and that broke the immobility and got them moving! But they ran down a dead end! The thing hovered and its wings made debris fly up into their faces. The creature landed at the end of the alley, wide enough to block any escape route. Then it walked toward them – but Moira saw it was wearing BOOTS! Huh?? Leaning back against the dead end wall, it suddenly dissolved into a black swirl. The three of them jumped in to escape the monster, hoping they could survive whatever this new thing was. But the monster followed them in and moved right to Anna! Moira chased after her into the forest. As she saw Anna trapped against a tree, the monster grabbed her and flew upward!
With Anna and Gemma now missing, Moira is captured and taken before the king. Valerian quickly finds that a very rare thing has happened for the first time in 500 years – Moira is Valerian’s mate! Is Moira ready to settle down with a half-vampire? How will she find her missing friends? Was that trip through the portal a one-way adventure?
I enjoyed this book and the detailed world-building the author gave us. The only negative I had was repeating some of the points being made over and over again. One example was Moira’s weight situation and how she had lost the weight mostly but still suffered the emotional pain of it. All that is true, but repeating it again and again started to bother me. The same is true for the Uber that Moira said over and over that she should/would/could call. I anticipated her cell phone would not have a signal, not that she wouldn’t even try to call someone to come get them. But aside from that, the details of the portal and streets and forest, for me, made the experience seem more real. I liked the characters and thought they were developed well and earned my respect. (It’s okay to scream when a monster is chasing you.)
The second book of the Alcyran Chronicles shows us the fate of the second of the trio of girlfriends who were pulled into a different universe when a spell whent wrong/ or right?
Gray mouse, self-conscious and unhappy with her size – tall and curvey, she cannot understand that she lands as a present to the local king.
This king and many of his citizens are vampires – but quite humane and well-behaved. So the title is a mis-nomer, there is no beast in this story.
For a large part this is a typical cliché story of virgin and vampire, but at least it has some stories on the side to make it a more layered story.
For taht I gave a 3.5 stars. The story itself is well-written and entertaining, but for my taste still too cliché. Ms. Summers can write beautifully and in depth, but sadly this story falls flat.

Wow. What a story. Moira and her two heart sisters have just arrived in Ireland on a holiday. After a few drinks and a bit tipsy, the three girls get lost walking back to their hotel. Then a huge flying monster is after them. Somehow, they fall into a big black something and end up on another planet. But Moira is alone and doesn’t know where the other two are. Moira is then captured and taken to King Valerian, a gorgeous specimen of manhood. I loved this story and the characters. And the love scene in the bath wasn’t too bad either.
Moira and her 2 besties head to Ireland for a great end of college 2 week vacation and the last time the 3 of them will be together full-time. They will be off to 3 different grad schools. Their first night in Dublin they get rip-roaring drunk and get lost on their way back to the hotel. So lost, mind you, that they end up in another dimension after being chased by a winged monster. The monster carries Annie away, Gemma can’t be found, and Moira is by herself until she is found by some medieval-looking warriors with strange blue eyes who take her with them. They speak an archaic English that Moira soon figures out (but doesn’t let on) and finds out she’s to be a gift to the king. When she meets the king Valerian, she realizes he’s not and gorgeous and interested in her. But she has to find her friends. He doesn’t plan on letting her go; they’re fated mates and that’s a big deal. Why? Will he help her? Will she stay? I generally love anything by Anya Summers. I liked the premise of this story and when I finished, I was glad I read it. But there was an inordinate amount of space taken up with world-building; tons of it. And less time spent on dialogue and interaction between the characters, which I love the most. Don’t get me wrong, I love the world descriptions too but not if I feel it takes away from the story. Still, it was worth reading! I need to go back and read book 1!!

I enjoyed this entertaining read. I liked Moira and Valerian and my heart really connected with this curvy girl and her alien vampire mate. I thought that they had really good chemistry. I felt that this story was a bit of a slow starter but once it got going it really pulled me in. A interesting blend of drama, excitement, emotion, adventure, passion and romance will hold your attention and have you rooting for this couple.
I love Anya and now her her world of Alcyra!
The Alcyran Chronicles are the wonderful new adventures of three best friends sucked through a vortex or wormhole to a new world, separated as soon as they arrive, and taken home to three different countries. In this installment of the three book series Moira is on a graduation celebration trip to Ireland with her two best friends when they are sucked through a wormhole or vortex to a new world. As soon as they “land” they are separated and taken to three different countries. Moira is captured by “living vampires “ as a prize for the king. The king refuses to believe she’s from earth and not a spy; and since he can’t trust her, King Valerian has to keep a close eye on her. Creating the opportunity for their attraction to grow. Now all Moira has to do is find her friends and accept that this alien planet is her new home.
Anya has succeeded again in creating a strong, dominant male that is not afraid to show his love with consistent and formidable behavior. Moira is lost, in a foreign world. Valerian is there to show her she is safe and that he will do what needs to be done to keep her that way. Protecting her from even herself.

An amazing, wondrous out of this world story. Three friends end up in an alternate world where the middle ages is the here and now and the paranormals rule. The bite of suspense, the intrigue and adventure grabs your attention. I missed the first book of the series so I’ve bought it to catch up.
