Shipping off to boot camp hadn’t been a hard pill to swallow. It was my time to serve our country, just like my father and my grandfather before me. The pain that throbbed in my chest every night I was away was the stone cold fact that I’d left her behind, not ever having told her how I felt. After twelve years and only a few short visits in-between, I’m finally back for good. I’ve waited long … enough and I’m ready to take back the girl I let get away all those years ago.
Finding out he’s back in town isn’t too shocking, but finding out he’s back permanently – that’s a whole different story. He’s been my unicorn for as long as I can remember and the more I think about seeing him, the more I want to run and hide. Twelve years is a long time to live without someone in your life, we’ve both grown up and I doubt he’ll remember the little girl his brother dumped in middle school. Now that he’s back how do I hide the feelings of desire and heartbreak that he left me with all those years ago.

This was a sweet slow burn read. I loved that Nate saved himself for Kennedy.
Kennedy grew up with Nate’s family even dated his brother but when she broke up with his brother & Nate left for the military. There was no place for her in that family. Years later Nate is back and he wants the girl will she have those feelings back!
I really enjoyed Nate and Kennedy’s story. Kennedy was somewhat sad at first, since she seemed to make a life out of work and not much else, but Nate’s return to town forced that to change. Nate, on the other hand, surprised me with his admission to Kennedy, but that only made him and this story that much more intriguing. Their slow burn to admitting their love for each other was a nice distraction from the realities of a cold day in January!
I do, however, wish that Aaron and Sara had a much more severe comeuppance. Maybe we’ll see more of a consequence for their actions in future books.
Different than expected second chance
Claimed was such a great read. Nate and Kennedy have a second chance at love. It is a different second chance love story. I loved how Chelsea made Nate such a great upstanding alpha man in this book. It was such a great change from other books. Loved it!!!
This book was so amazing.
Kennedy, such a sweet and loving girl. Everything about her screamed special and especially when she writes a letter to someone so near and dear that she can’t bear to give it to him herself. That broke my heart, but then when he comes back she gets shocking news, one that can change her whole life.
Nate, I wish I could get him and keep him for myself. He was just so amazing. So straight forward, no beating around the Bush and I loved that about him. He left to go do his duty and now he is back for the one girl who claimed his heart a long time ago. But this time it’s his turn to claim her, for life.
I read this book in one sitting because it was that amazing and I loved the ending. Everyone should be reading this book, you won’t regret it!!!
This is the first book in a new series from this talented author, and is Kennedy and Nate’s story. Kennedy had had a huge crush on Nate since childhood, and when Nate leaves his hometown to enlist with the Marines, neither of them say anything about their feelings for each other. Now Nate has returned to his hometown as the hero, but will Kennedy still be there? Can they no longer deny their feelings for each other? No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story, which is heart-warming, and I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more form this extremely talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
Claimed by Chelsea McDonald is an epic read. This is the first book that I have read of hers and will definitely be reading more. I received a free copy of this book and I am providing you with my honest review.
Kennedy and Nate’s story has some unique qualities that gives an edge to it from other stories you may have read. I won’t say what these qualities are because I don’t want to give out any spoilers, but once you read their story you will know what I am referring to.
Nate is the epitome of every small town hero…good looking, star football player, perfect student and right after graduation he enlisted to become a Marine (like his father and grandfather). His only regret is having not told Kennedy how he felt about her before he left for the Marines.
Kennedy is considered an outsider because she came from New York even though she was only six years old. Kennedy and Nate’s family were very close and his home was like a second home to her.
For as long as Kennedy can remember she had a crush on Nate but believed he only seen her as a little sister and his little brothers girlfriend. Nate has an inkling that Kennedy might feel something for him that’s why when he came back home for good it was to Claim the girl he let her away all those years ago.
Kennedy and Nate’s story will definitely capture your attention and hook you in from the very beginning!
Claimed had me on the edge of my seat. It pulled me right in, the storyline flowed so easily from page to page. Chelsea has now become a new favorite author and I cant wait to see where she goes with the next book in the series.
Nate Armstrong is not your typical Jock, but he is the boy next door that you want to take a bite out of. But can he come back to the one person he knew all along was meant for him, or will he come back to see that she has moved on without ever knowing how he has felt for her?
Kennedy Myers has had to battle feelings for so long she isn’t sure if she even belongs anymore, her life hasn’t always been easy, but can she confess her love to the one Boy who has had her heart all along? Will Kennedy wait for his return or will she leave and never look back?
This was my first read by Chelsea McDonald and I throughly enjoyed it. It was a sweet, easy read with some very lovable characters.
Kennedy had always had a crush on Nate, when he shipped off to the Marines she was devastated. Over the years they have seen each other on occasion but now 12 years later Nate is home for good.
Could this finally be their chance?
A great story and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
A lovely read that kept me interested, but I felt the connection between Kennedy and Nate was some times lacking and there were parts that either confused me or didn’t feel believable. With some changes, this book could become a 4 or 5 star read. It hasn’t put me off though and I’d still consider reading other books by this author
I loved the story but there were some errors which caused me to give this a 4.
I have never read anything by this author before and I will seek out more.
Kennedy and Nate are a fun amazing couple.
I am super curious about Aaron
The plot of this one initially drew me in, but unfortunately the story fell a little flat for me. There were a lot of parts that dragged in areas, and I felt like the reason for the breakup between Aaron and Kennedy was made into a way bigger deal than it turned out to be. I also didn’t understand the “feud” between the brothers; it seemed like it was added for the sake of drama.
I did like Nate and Kennedy’s relationship once it finally developed into something.
Just the absolute best story. Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!
When someone you love leaves and you never know if they will return must be so hard.
That’s what Kennedy felt like. The love of her life going off to join the Marines. She was 15 when he left but she knew that he was her forever.
Nate joined the Marines and despite only wanting to go for a short while ended up being 12 years. But he came back for one person only.
After all these years would she still be available. Would she wait for him?
The story was a little predictable but the journey to the end was one that made you smile.
I want to know what happens in the next book as soon as possible. Jason and Laceys book will be a great story. I also hope we get Aaron’s story. Not that I like him. However, there is more to him than what you have read.
A great quick read. I loved how sure Nate was in his feelings for Kennedy and how he has his plan thought out from the start. I loved the twist on him being the inexperienced one. I couldn’t help but want more from this I felt that some things could have been explored a bit more, such as the dynamics between Kennedy, Nate and his brother, however this didn’t detract from the story it’s just what I would have liked. I would read more from this author
3.5 stars
I really wanted to love this book but it didn’t do it for me. I hate leaving a bad review. Just because it doesn’t work for me doesn’t mean it’s not your jam! The writing wasn’t my style. It has a lot of potential though.
This was my 1st book by Ms. McDonald but certainly not my last. Claimed had me hooked from the beginning all the way til the end. I don’t want to go into telling about the book cause you just have to read it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Ms. McDonald did a great job on building her characters and the plot and the ending was great. I do wish it was a little bit longer cause I wasn’t ready for it to end.
This one was a solid 3.5 stars for me. I rounded up because I am a sucker for reading military men that come home for good to claim the girl that got away.
Kennedy used to date Nate’s brother, but it was a young immature connection that was never going to be. Because she loved Nate. But Nate comes home and he couldn’t be into her..could he?
This is a slow burn, the timelines from the past are a bit jumpy, but overall I liked the characters and their connection.
