To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.
As Clary uncovers more about her family’s past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he’s willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City–whatever the cost?

Awesome series, highly recommend! Love the New York modern-day setting, and all the characters – Shadowhunters, demons, warlocks, werewolves, faeries, vampires, etc. The romantic aspects of the book are all interesting and don’t detract from the plot. This series is very hard to put down and will have you hooked from start to finish!
(Audiobook)
What started out as a remarkable audiobook journey for me with somewhat bland narration has taken me to new level of wonderment. While you would think the main focal point would be saving Clary’s mother’s life (I mean seriously its the first line in the synopsis) it’s seem now that Clary love life is actually the plot.
That story plot was tossed at you in book one and I fear that it will run its course throughout the entire series. The main Question is answered for me though which was “Are Clary and Jace really brother and sister’. Yeah you read that right. Want me to tell you the answer…I can’t but if you read the previous book then I suspect you already know that answer as well.
We are introduced to new cast mates. But by far I think the most intriguing of the bunch would be Sebastian. Oh, and before I forget let’s make that love triangle Clary seems overwhelmed with into a love square. You guessed it, the ultra-naive heroine wants again opens her gracious heart a new love interest appears.
While we waited for the big lifesaving moment of Jocelyn (I mean I really was expecting something amazing, spectacular leaving me awestruck) instead you’ll get a knock on a door letting you know if she is alive or dead. I was left extremely unimpressed by Clare for not making this moment more than what it was given.
Once again Clare as blowing me away with her combative scenes. I loved the action that occurred with the boundaries of the City of Glass. The creative way forces were joined together.
This leaves me stuck though. As I’ve mentioned in my Reviews of the previous two books for The Mortal Instrument Series I found Clary to be a temperamental toddler who is overly naive and falls in like/love as much as I eat bacon. I still found her to be the same, in fact none of the characters still have yet developed much maturity given the powers they hold. I still want the amazing fights that Clare has provided me. So that is my dilemma. Do I continue in a somewhat predictable storyline just for a small slice of action?
Really love this series, as a writer and a reader.

A truly formidable YA series
That propels you to continue reading and reading. Well written, imaginative, alluring and more. You come back for more of each character just to see what happens next. I will read each spin off sites as they come also.
I love this entire series!
Though I am way outside of the average age of a YA reader … It was great!
I’m back in this masterfully built world with amazing characters that jump of the page. I get the pleasure of watching tthe book play out in my brain … that is the mark of a great book. It is a joy to read and you really feel for Claire … so much upheaval …
I tore through this book & then was on to the next!
