When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder — much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing — not even a … smear of blood — to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

I was so glad that I finally picked up this book after hearing so many good things about it for years. I felt like the world was original and the characters were interesting, especially the characters with magical elements. a few predictable parts, but mostly I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Can’t wait to continue on with this …
I absolutely love this book. It is one of my favorites. Most people say this is one of those “love it” or “hate it” kind of books, but I cannot see how anyone wouldn’t like this. City of Bones is one of the top rate fantasy books, and while it takes a little while to get attached and to the action, it is worth the wait of a few chapters. Once you …
I have read this series previously and am now re-visiting it. This is one of my favorite YA series. Well written, intense, action-packed and more. Whether you see what’s coming or are taken by surprise you can’t put it down and love it.
This book was really good, I’ve heard people talk about it a lot but I’ve never really thought about reading it until this year. It really is a page turner and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. You have to make sure you have all the books though, or else you’ll be dying because of the cliff hangers and plot twist happening.
This is just the first of many novels by this fantasy queen, and it sets you rolling into the series ready to follow these amazingly crafted characters through this beautiful crafted world for the next five novels. Packed with action, romance, drama, and sarcasm Cassandra Clare knows exactly what young adult readers want.
This was the first book that I read by Cassandra Clare and it was the book to start my addiction. This book made me want to wait and wait and buy all the series just so I can claim this series for myself. I give it a 10/10
Great ya fantasy

~Quick Review~
I was so ecstatic when I finally read the first novel in The Mortal Instruments series, City of Bones. The story is well created and the world-building is amazing. I also appreciated the …
This was a real page-turner, and I wouldn’t say that it was like a full-on romance book, but it had SOME kissing. This book was action-packed ALL the way! I really look up to Clary, because she is a clever, witty, smart, adventurous, and caring girl. I can’t tell much about Jace, because I don’t know much about him yet, I’m really hoping there’s …
This was my latest “quarantine read”. This book has been on my TBR pile for a long time (2-3 years??) The truth is, I only read about one Fantasy book a year. Novels like Game of Thrones or Outlander take me weeks (if not months) to complete, based on their sheer length and density, and sometimes I even take a break in the middle to read something …
At first, I didn’t think it would be that good but boy was I wrong. I couldn’t wait to read the other five books. This is one of my favorite books.
The City of Bones was a wonderful book to read that had me up all night turning pages. I immediately fell in love with the characters, from Clary’s care and loyalty to Jace’s sarcastic humor. I found myself buying the rest of the series as soon as I finished the first book. I recommend this book to anyone that loves a good romance story, strong …
So fun to read! I’ve read all of the books and they are almost addicting. To be honest I think that if you like romance, thriller, action, fantasy, and cliff-hangers then this is the book for you! It has werewolves, vampires, fairies/fae, demons and the most often talked about are the shadow hunters, and the humans which in the book humans are …
Love this series
Love this series!
I loved the world Cassandra Clare created, starting with this book. The story line is original…a real page-turner. She maintained my interest in subsequent books as her characters continue to resolve the issues they have to deal with. Although there are slow scenes, they only serve to set up for the action that follows. I highly recommend this …
Hated the build up to the ending but only because I I didn’t want to believe it. Ugh. It was so good though. Supernatural stuff. I guess it was romantic but I felt more action. And I loved that. Couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Love Clary.
I am so in love with this book. I kept putting off this series and I’m so happy to be finally reading it.
This is a wonderful read for young adults to full adults. It weaves a wonderful new world right along side the real world.
Good story line and edge of your seat action.
