Being dead definitely has its disadvantages. Number one being that I have to wait until the full moon to kick Benny’s ass. What right did he have to kill me? None. Not only that, I was his thirteenth kill, so he’s alive instead. Not for long, if I have my way. With Lorena gone, the island has taken on a life of its own and it’s up to me to destroy it. But doing so will require massive sacrifices. so will require massive sacrifices.
Sacrifices I’m not sure I’m willing to give.
But the fate of everyone on the island rests in my hands.
Who will live and who will be gone forever?
The choice is mine.

I was dying to see how this terrific series would conclude.
This book continued the abundance of suspense and emotions that the previous ones had, but it also presented an exciting conclusion that was well worth all of the anxiety that the other books put me through. This was a brilliant series from start to finish. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
I loved the nail-biting, the edge of my seat moments and how well everything flowed together! This is a great story, a great series that kept me pulled in and entertained! The magic, the mystery… everything.
This is the final book in this unusual dark young-adult series and this started right where we left off previously with that shocking act of violence at the hands of someone Callie had grown to trust.
And no matter how my much she tries to tell herself otherwise Callie just can’t forgive or give a certain someone the benefit of the doubt.
All her bitterness and hurt pushed in that particular direction.
She’s also now in the unique position of having the tables turned on her and she’s not handling it very well emotionally.
So I do think it’s a massive flaw in Callie’s character that she has a tendency to react without thinking things through to there logical conclusion.
She’s Passionate and hence follows her feelings a lot of the times but usually quite rashly and mostly consequences be damned.
She never takes the time to just take stock of the entire situation always running before she can walk.
She is also pretty low on the trust factor though I can’t necessarily blame her in that regard as she has been betrayed constantly throughout this series by those she had begun to rely on.
With her, it tends to be black and white and she struggles to see the grey in between.
This was action-packed especially the second half and again there are some major curveballs thrown in Callie’s direction that I didn’t expect.
This series is at its heart a clean young-adult romance with some dark undertones and thankfully it does have a HEA for Callie and Benny which I’m ever so pleased about.
On a sidenote that unexpected reveal at the end of this threw me for a loop.
I thought it was a brilliant touch and definitely want to know more.
This series is unusual and imaginative and very different and though Callie could get a tad annoying and judgy at times a page-turner.
But considering Callie’s young age that was only to be expected really.
My favourite out of this series was definitely the first book but the rest of these did make compelling reading also.
Book 4 finally closed the curtain and left me satisfied with the end result for Benny and Callie’s future together.

Sometimes it’s hard to review a book without giving away spoilers, so I’ll give it my best shot.
This is an absolutely amazing finale to a wonderful series. Callie has come so far in her abilities to deal with whatever the Circus of the Dead and the mysterious island throws at her, but she is still learning what she must in order to free herself and her friends from this horrid place.
Kimberly Loth has created a unique world and cast of characters and when some of these characters die (or do they?), the reader feels like they have lost a friend. The worst part about reading the last in a series is not being able to interact with the characters anymore.
This book is geared at the YA crowd, but don’t let that fool you. There is plenty of magic, voodoo, zombies, witches, villains, romance and tension in this book and series. The ending was perfect and I loved the twist at the end that opens up the possibilities of more books set in this world.
The narrator, Sarah Puckett, does a great job and adds a lot to an already wonderful book. I was given the chance to listen to this book by the author and chose to review it.
What a blockbuster ending! With Callie now a ghost, she can do so little until the full moon except to contemplate what she wants to do. And Benny is on her target list. Lorena left the island, so Callie is stuck with figuring out how to stop the cycle that has taken so many lives and left so many in limbo. She’s slowly discovering who she can trust and who will do anything to make sure she never leaves the island or finds the happiness she dreamed could be hers. Still heartbroken that her mother would do something like this, that the man she loves killed her, and that she knows little of the power she has at her fingertips, Callie has to wade through the mire to figure out what she can do to get the only woman who can free her back to the island before everything is lost to her.
Each of the characters plays an integral part in the motion of the plot, and this author conducted them like an orchestra to bring about an amazing and unpredictable ending. The characters were fascinating. The story was exhilarating. And the ending was extraordinary. From the first moment of the first book, I wanted to see Callie find her way off the island and find love at the same time. Yet, when it all ended, I wasn’t ready for it to be over. I look forward to whatever the author has in mind to write next.
When Callie wakes up turned into a ghost after Benny killed her, she would never have imagined that adapting to her new existence would be so complicated. Now that she’s finally in charge of the island, she must learn the rules of magic that keeps so many people captive, discovering how to control the other ghosts. While dealing with the betrayal of her boyfriend Benny, Callie plans a revenge against her mother Lorena, the real responsible behind her death. But first she needs to protect the islanders and free the ghosts, finding a way to do it before she destroys the island forever.
I really loved the characters of this story. Each one of them was so special and unique! Callie is a strong protagonist who has to face the most difficult challenge: keep fighting after her own death. The author did an excellent job creating that uncertain and spooky atmosphere during her first moments as a ghost. Also, the amazing display of her magic blew my mind, I loved the whole fantasy of this book.
And it’s just that the plot of this story is so captivating. The intrigue and suspense were built in an impressive way, leaving me absolutely hooked in an addictive reading. There were new places and new creatures, all of them completely creepy and mysterious. Everything was so epic and original, and of course it had that dark element that I like so much. The author created an amazing game of loyalties, making us discover the truth with each page and generating really impressive plot twists.
I devoured this story from beginning to end because EVERYTHING happens in this book. It has a fast pace, it’s full of action and adrenaline, with some really amazing fight scenes. Although there is also a lot of drama and some parts that broke my heart, in addition to a very beautiful romance. I kept trusting Benny despite his supposed betrayal, I couldn’t believe he was the bad guy. And it’s just that Benny is a character that I love so much, he’s so sweet and beautiful, so protective and special with Callie. Their love story is epic, it is tragic and at the same time beautiful, each of their meetings left me sighing and wishing they could finally be together.
On the other hand, I have to say that I loved the setting of this series, the author’s creativity is impressive in describing every detail so full of imagination and with that touch of darkness that made it even more fascinating. And the end was so shocking! It had so much magic and tons of action. It was the perfect ending and even more because it had a very shocking revelation that was mind blowing. I loved this book so much and I think it’s the best series Kimberly has written so far. It’s definitely a new favorite!
This is a fantastic ending to a unique YA series. Callie managed to rid the island of Lorena, but the cost was high. Now Callie has to figure out how to destroy the island while at the same time saving both the ghosts and the rest of the islanders. That’s pretty hard to do when you happen to be a ghost yourself. Callie is a great character, things did not come easy for her, but she remained determined, strong and protective of her friends throughout everything. I loved seeing how she grew into her powers and how her relationship with Benny developed. You can’t help but love Benny, he is loyal, sweet and full of surprises. This story had lots of suspense, angst, excitement, a glowing skull, zombies, ghosts and even a nasty witch/werewolf. The story flows well, keeps you captivated and has a surprising twist right at the end, both adults and teenagers will enjoy this whole series.
What. A. Finale. Even though she is a ghost, Callie takes a whole lot onto her shoulders. She wants to free the ghosts. She wants to free the Islanders. She wants to destroy Lorena. She wants to destroy the island. That is a hell of a to do list! Can she do it? Read and find out! I loved this book as well as the whole series! I look forward to whatever Kimberly Loth writes next!
Callie was dispatched quickly! What about saving the people and the ghosts? A new twist! Lorena had resulted much tricky and ruthless than what Callie would have imagined. Every Callie plan was going down and Callie didn’t understand what could be happening. But when it comes to dealing, Callie didn’t give up despite the mistakes she made with her impetuosity. I loved that at every moment there was a question and a new mystery to solve. The twists were super with the exciting and intriguing situations that had me trying to guess the outcome of the story. Enjoyed this story where nothing was easy, there was voodoo magic and the protagonist faced strange and magic challenges all the time. Suspense, a skull, zombies, ghosts and even what seemed a nasty werewolf in training. The unexpected end left me chuckling. Good!
I loved reading this series from start to finish. Kimberly Loth has created a world of magic with The Circus of the Dead, one that was hard to put down. I loved following Callie’s story and how she wants to help the people of the island. She makes mistakes, but does her best to fix them. I look forward to seeing what Kimberly comes up with next.
A fantastic ending to this series. Callie proves herself to be more magically powerful than she could ever believe. Benny plays a huge part along with Amy and Ruth. The circus may finally meet its demise, hopefully with everyone who Callie cares about intact. Reviewed complimentary copy voluntarily.
Oh. My. Goodness.
The perfect completion to this series. Of course, Callie unwittingly makes a couple more mistakes, but she FINALLY gets to fix them!! (And she finally does the ONE thing I would have done first in her love situation. LOL)
I would never have expected the way everything finally came together, nor some of the characters who came in to antagonize or help Callie. It was all unexpected and awesome, just like the other three books were!
I 100% love how this series ended. The HEA was perfect. I couldn’t ask for more….except maybe the spin-off that was hinted at. I’ll ask for that. 😉
Action, surprises, new villains, old villains, sacrifice, love and romance, voodoo, ancestral magic, ghosts, zombies, and N’Orleans. You need this book in your life.
Overall rating: 4.6
Truly a great wrap up of a series, complete with a little teaser to make you ponder possibilities. The pages flew by quickly, taking my emotions through its paces. Of course we readers want an HEA, but it’s never a guarantee and we just don’t know what it will cost as well. Loved this entire series and would truly recommend highly! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Circus Of The Dead: Book 4 is the final book in this young adult paranormal & urban fantasy romance. A mythology, a powerful ancestral witch and obeah, ghosts, and zombies plus a wicked twist ending. A mystifying marvel artistry suspense that is a page turner. Magical and pandemonium ending to this series.
This series is everything you could want in a YA series. Callie is a remarkable heroine, who finds herself on an island in New Orleans as an Obeah and ancestral witch tricked by the person who is supposed to love her. She has so many growing pains, but she never loses heart and proves that a good and just soul can persevere. Benny is constantly surprising, but unwavering in his love for Callie. I also thoroughly enjoyed the little twist at the very end. This book really has everything you could want in series finale. It has the angst, drama, resolution and surprises. I don’t want to give away the plot to much or tell you to much of what happens, but pick this up and read it. You will enjoy! I volunteered to read this book.
What an EPIC conclusion with a twist so great you will not believe it! In the final book, Callie is developing mastery over what she is able to do as a powerful ancestral witch and obeah. As always, she is looking out for the best interests of everyone involved as she is trying to undo what has been done by Lorena. Ms. Loth has truly crafted an outstanding storyline that has readers on pins and needles while the pages turn as they attempt to figure out this perplexing puzzle. This is not a standalone and the books must be read in order. Do not wait to one click your copy of this magnificent series! I highly recommend it. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
